Ok, I love the first three panels.

The fourth makes me ask why there aren't purity rituals for the boys. Do dominionists have a double standard?

We read all the gushing about the couple's first kiss on the wedding dais. (Most of these affairs don't include an altar, too Catholic, I guess.)

But we really never read about how it is the groom's first kiss. For all we know, he might have visited a prostitute on daddy's dime to learn what it's all about. That's a time-honored practice in a lot of traditionally patriarchal societies!

What do we know about the boys' purity? Inquiring minds...

i imagine it's against the biblical order of things for a boy, even a son, to be under the authority of a woman in any form...it seems to me that if his mother has any authority at all, it's not her own, but an extension of the father's authority.

The boys are expected to remain pure also (i.e. not kiss before marriage.) I remember Josh going on and on and on about that. I don't think it's as emphasized nearly as much, though. It's almost like it's expected, and if a boy fails, it's the girl's fault anyway for tempting him.

I don't know about that when it comes to the purity ball crowd. I think they tend to be more fundie light and probably don't hold their boys to the same standard.

They do have the "integrity balls" but there the focus is more on not messing with girls because they're someone else's future wife, and how would you feel if someone got YOUR future wife all icky than there is on "purity".

The third panel is what gets me about all this purity ball/ring stuff. "Your Daddy Commands It", not God, but the father in the family. That creeps me out and I can't find biblical passages to back it up the way Vision Forum and others are doing it in todays time.
