  1. I was quite shocked to read this. I know that one of the princes has been pushing for it, but the atmosphere there just doesn't seem conducive to change, especially for women. "Saudi Arabia Agrees to Let Women Drive"

    Violence Against Women

Actor Rose McGowan shared a Facebook post criticising the posters with the comment, “Fuck this shit”. “There is a major problem when the men and women at 20th Century Fox think casual violence against women is the way to market a film,” she elaborated in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. “There is no context in the ad, just a woman getting strangled. The fact that no one flagged this is offensive and, frankly, stupid.” She quoted a friend’s discussion of “the brutality of that hideous X-Men poster” with his nine-year-old daughter. “Her words: ‘Dad, why is that monster man committing violence against a woman?’ This from a 9-year-old. If she can see it, why can’t Fox?” I admit to being a fan of Rose McGowan. However, that does not make me in any way biased toward her or her stance on this issue. I do, in fact, agree with it 100%. It is not an image that should be posted on billboards and other posters. Yes, it is fictional, but the image you have on display for everyone to see is not fictional. And they are glorifying it. It is a sad commentary on where we are as a society in the 21st Century. Just sayin...
  3. So the CDC apparently came out and advised that any woman of childbearing age not currently on birth control shouldn't drink. ever. not because you are pregnant but because becoming pregnant is not outside the realm of possibility. I saw this and immediately thought this sounded like something our fundie friends would say. bc not only is a pregnant woman's body merely a vessel for the child she's carrying, but all women's bodies are potential vessels and are thus rightly at all times subject to the scrutiny and control of others. what??? http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/02/02/cdc-urges-young-women-avoid-all-alcohol-unless-theyre-using-contraception/79701890/
  4. I wonder this all of the time now from watching Michelle D., Terri Maxwell, and their offspring. How in the world does one go from being "normal" to being a full on fundy, giving up all their individual thoughts to Bill Gothard (or whatever leader they follow)? Gothard not only drains his followers' wallets, he also drains their emotions and individual thoughts. I have to wonder...how do people fall for people like this without digging deep and finding out what they are really about?
