Cleopatra7 posted a topic in Wide World of Snarkhttps://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile.nytimes.com/2017/12/24/us/teen-murder-racist-virginia.amp.html This case reminds me of a similar one that happened about twenty years ago when two brothers and their cousin who were into the Neo Nazi skinhead scene murdered the former’s JW parents and younger brother: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeman_family_murders
Given the horrific incident that took place at the club in Orlando, I cannot bring myself to be funny or post puns. I am totally fed up with humanity and how someone can senselessly take away the multiples of lives with the gutless use of an assault rifle. It just sickens me and tears at my heart. That this sick bastard would use his hatred for LGBT people as a means for perpetrating his terrorist action is completely sub-human. Yet, I do not hold this against people of any particular beliefs or race. This wasn't about Islam or Muslims. This was about someone with a totally blackened heart, full of hatred for people that were of NO threat to him, or anyone else for that matter. My heart cries for these innocent lives lost, those injured, and the families of everyone directly impacted by this act. My heart cries for the continued loss of life at the hands of gun violence. As I ask in my title for this blog entry, when does it stop? Just sayin...
Actor Rose McGowan shared a Facebook post criticising the posters with the comment, “Fuck this shit”. “There is a major problem when the men and women at 20th Century Fox think casual violence against women is the way to market a film,” she elaborated in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. “There is no context in the ad, just a woman getting strangled. The fact that no one flagged this is offensive and, frankly, stupid.” She quoted a friend’s discussion of “the brutality of that hideous X-Men poster” with his nine-year-old daughter. “Her words: ‘Dad, why is that monster man committing violence against a woman?’ This from a 9-year-old. If she can see it, why can’t Fox?” I admit to being a fan of Rose McGowan. However, that does not make me in any way biased toward her or her stance on this issue. I do, in fact, agree with it 100%. It is not an image that should be posted on billboards and other posters. Yes, it is fictional, but the image you have on display for everyone to see is not fictional. And they are glorifying it. It is a sad commentary on where we are as a society in the 21st Century. Just sayin...
