I've started making homemade play food and I am obsessed! It's a lot of fun, but my kiddo isn't old enough to play with it yet and my husband isn't really into crafts, so I was looking for other crafty types to geek out over play food and other cute felt projects. I couldn't find any free patterns for bell peppers, so designing a pattern is my current project. The first one came out pretty well, but it could do with some tweaking before I post it online. Bad photo of the first try below:

Has anyone ever made curtains? Is it harder than it looks, for a basic square/rectangular curtain with a rod pocket or grommets? We've been window-shopping for curtains, and for the price and color choices, I'm tempted to buy fabric and make my own. I have a sewing machine (mid-80s-ish White model, nothing spectacular), I can sew a fairly straight line, and I've done a couple of small sewing projects. How crazy am I?

I love taking something old or no longer used and making it into something useful or wearable.

I finally get my turn to host Thanksgiving at our house this year after about 8 years. My sil and mil have been taking turns and beating me to the punch for invites. I've had a warp dyed and waiting to become a table runner and placemats for for almost that whole time. After I invited everyone late last month I realized that I had better get on that warp. As so often happens while I weave, I decided to make some celtic knot binding to go around everything. So I now have the whole warp woven, and part of it over dyed because there was just too much yellow and not enough red, and the warp for the tablet weaving dyed. I have no idea if it will be done before thanksgiving ( I need like 20+ yards of binding), but I'm going to try. I always do this to myself at the holidays. I get all ambitious and over extend myself. Anyway, what are you all working on for the holidays?

So I'm doing a cross stitch project for my mother. It was originally to be a Christmas present, but that's not going to happen - it will take me a few more months at this point. It's going to end up like this: Framed in three panels. So far I have done this: I'm finding it really hard to stay motivated, cause the colour and design just aren't to my taste. But that's ok, I'm making it as a gift and I know she will love it, which is why I chose this design. I'm just getting bogged down in all the shades of orange and having to work with a colour I really don't like. I just need to push through til I can do some of the parts I'll find more satisfying - shapes and the blue shading. So yeah, just wanted to share and try to gain more motivation. I like bigger cross stitch projects cause the end results are really satisfying, but the 50 shades of orange part of this is getting really dull.

I thought I'd try my hand at this, so I bought a couple of kits. I'm currently making a little monster. Anyone else do this?

What all do you make? Right now I'm mostly making historical costumes. I really like Victorian and Edwardian fashions so most of my costumes reflect that. The doll clothes I make are all over the place period fashion wise and I most often make them out of scraps.

I love to make costumes (although I am not very good at it.) This is my youngest son performing as John Brown. I made the beard.

I finished sewing my child's superhero/super villian costume

it's far from perfect, but it's not a bad start. Please ignore the fact that my evilcat ate the band off the mask and it's been re-tied. bad kitty! The mask and bracers are felt + interfacing + gray velvety lining. (and handy snaps on the bracers) The cape is purple silky stuff + gray velvety lining. I didn't use interfacing but should have, because it doesn't hang right in the middle. Version 3.0 will have that. Hard to get action shots of it though, because one only wears a cape to FLYYYYYYY around the house. -
Any other writers on this site? Professional, hobby, whatever. I started writing when I was 11. I've previously written plays, short stories and way too much fanfiction. Right now I'm at work on my first original novel, which believe it or not was inspired by that horrid SAHD story about the abortion clinic we read the other day. We'll see how it goes, I'm still figuring out the characters. What are your current projects?
