clueliss posted a topic in Quiver Full of PoliticsDang. The Republican Lineup against Claire McCaskill is turning into a real bunch of winners. I know I saw a thread on here somewhere (that I just looked for and couldn't quickly locate) about some other blowhard idiot in this same race. And it looks like the KC Star has audio of this incident. http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/news-columns-blogs/the-buzz/article197603534.html
laPapessaGiovanna posted a topic in AbortionI love this! Thanks to @Buzzard for the link. http://deadstate.org/satanic-temple-argues-that-missouris-extreme-abortion-laws-violate-their-religious-freedomfbrefreshforce/ I may consider converting.
clueliss posted a topic in Quiver Full of Politicshttp://krcgtv.com/news/local/questions-remain-about-death-of-transgender-teen-in-missouri The above is short. This one is longer (because the KC Star does better work than the local tv station that wants you to watch them). http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article175459621.html
clueliss posted a topic in Wide World of SnarkThis means that the protestors are back on Providence in good Ole Columbia. (By the way, my personal response to 'pray to end abortion' signs (there's a house that I drive past that sometimes has one) is 'what if God said no?') http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article145622364.html
http://www.abc17news.com/news/crime/man-arrested-for-delivery-of-meth-to-lincoln-university-mailroom/438086425 The US Post Office is not amused. And Missouri Man probably just figured out that playing with the mail like this elevates this to a federal offense.
So this has been trolling through my Facebook Feed for a couple of days now. A Missouri KKK leader was found in the river. And now they've arrested his wife/estranged wife. http://www.kansascity.com/news/state/missouri/article132417229.html Well, I'm glad they clarified this - because of course I thought, wait, isn't that he car dealer in KC area's name
I was torn on where to put this since this discusses a variety of articles but placed it in here. Spiritual abuse, Physical Abuse. Sexual Abuse. A Pastor with his own church that was in massive debt. I drive past Tri-City Christian Church when I go to/from KC via I70 - I recognize the steeple in the picture with the article. I'm going to have to resist the urge to drive by and throw things now. The Pitch is an alternative newspaper in Kansas City. FYI this is a long article. http://www.pitch.com/news/feature-story/article/20854225/tricity-ghosts-school-vouchers-raise-the-possibility-of-diverting-money-into-abusive-faith-communities One highlight er lowlight: and - they are quoting Boz Tchividjian (we have a thread on him, don't we?) quite heavily in this.
clueliss posted a topic in HealthI don't have children. I do, however, live in a 'college town.' And this school year, the Universtiy of Missouri has had an ongoing battle of Mumps. I'm going to guess that the anti-vaccine crowd had kids old enough to be in college now. That they're all crowded up in dorms and apartments around my city. And we have outbreaks in the late teen/twenty something age group of childhood diseases. Diseases that there are shots for. So now, after aid outbreak has occurred, they're going to give vaccines. http://www.komu.com/news/mumps-stricken-columbia-campus-plans-vaccination-clinic
clueliss posted a topic in Quiver Full of PoliticsI'm putting this one under Politics because I'm going to tie this to a tone-deaf move my Representative made a few minutes ago. Proving to me that she has no clue what is going on back home. Greitens is the new Missouri Governor. I had to pull the news off the Jefferson City station because it has more details than CoMo does. http://krcgtv.com/news/local/gov-greitins-holds-a-press-conference-regarding-child-abuse-at-a-dss-facility Bolding of SOUTHWEST BAPTIST UNIVERSITY is mine. So my Rep posts this lovely photo. Guess what SBUni stands for? Yes, Southwestern Baptist University. Their twitter is also followed by Republican Senator Roy Blunt. Shock shock shock.
clueliss posted a topic in Quiver Full of Politicshttp://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article128599699.html Out of Missouri politics. Looks like we have State Senator Grabby McNameCaller here. Boo?

The Missouri state House of Representatives just passed a "Personhood" amendment that would give fertilized eggs legal rights. Since there are only eight Democrats in the Senate outof thirty-four, it will almost pass: http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article75948507.html Hopefully, it won't be voted into law by a popular vote, but things are going so far to the right these days I wouldn't be surprised if it passes.
clueliss posted a topic in Quiver Full of PoliticsThis one is hitting the news in Kansas City - because KC is, in general, concerned that it might lose tings like the Big 12 Basketball Tournament and conventions over a proposed 'religious freedom' amendment in Missouri that would allow businesses to refuse service based on things such as sexual orientation based on religious beliefs. Indiana apparently has a similar law that is costing the city if Indianapolis convention money now. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/blair-kerkhoff/article66059372.html#storylink=fb_staff (and yes - that is a link to the sports section discussing politics - because college basketball in KC is newsworthy)
