I'm not sure this really needs its own thread, and it follows on from the discussion of the Wesco family: US missionary who was illegally trying to reach an uncontacted tribe has been killed So, knowing it's illegal, and knowing the Sentinelese have previously been hostile to outsiders, he went ahead anyway because Jesus. I guess at least this one didn't drag kids along with him? On the other hand, the martyr-hungry persecution.org has this to say: Yes, because this isolated and endangered group with a history of fending off outsiders is definitely part of some anti-Christian conspiracy. Uh-huh. Wonder if John-boy will get word of this and feel moved to compose more "poetry"?
Remember the missionary who was killed while trying to convert the Sentinelese. Well, his father blames extreme Christianity for his sons actions. He also said that his son should not be healed up as a hero. He was misguided. https://www.faithwire.com/2019/02/04/john-allen-chaus-father-says-extreme-christianity-led-to-sons-murder/ I agree with this. I don’t think John had bad intentions when he tried to convert the tribe. I don’t condone his actions. I do think that his belief system played a part in his actions. This is just one of many examples of extreme/cult Christianity causing harm in the world.
