    Bailey Sarian

Wasn't quite sure where to post this, so this seems like a good a spot as any. I started watching Bailey Sarian videos on Facebook every so often (when they'd pop up in the suggested for you section), but the censorship drove me batty. I then had the genius idea to search for her videos on YouTube, & blammo. There she was. If you're not familiar with who she is, Bailey tells true crime stories about crazy, disturbing situations & people, and she applies makeup during the story. Plus the videos are uncensored, which adds to the overall quality of her work. And she seems to have a sense of humor, too, & I greatly appreciate that. If you ever get the chance, take a gander at her videos. They're very well done, even when the topics are disturbing.

  4. I'm 31 and I cannot apply eyeliner to save my life. I can use a liner brush and get a little along the lash line. Lately I've been trying to learn more because I REALLY want to use it. I found a tightlining eyeliner at sephora and I really love that. I can do the upper waterline... but I can only just do a basic touch and my eyes still run like a faucet. I've tried to use gel, liquid, ink pens... you name it, I have it, and I just want to be able to apply a basic line of black eyeliner . Does anybody have a suggestion?

    Pregnancy makeup help!

HI everyone, Has anyone had to change makeup while pregnant? Cystic acne is making a reappearance in my life and I'm very out of touch of which foundations are helpful for it. I got a free trial of Curology, a serum made specifically for your skin that seems to be clearing it, but I feel like my current foundation isn't up to the task. I use Exuviance Skin Caring, it feels so nice and I love the benefits, but I'm using a lot of concealer to cover the redness and breakout spots. It's also not doing as well with my suddenly dry skin from the heat. I will not abandon their concealer, because it is the best on the planet for me. The only other foundation I've really loved was Lancôme Teint Visionnaire with the matching concealer in the top due to having yellow undertone options, but it's only sold in APAC so not an option. I'm not sure if it helps recommendations, but I use a sonic makeup brush to apply so I can't mess up blending and can stretch my foundation bottle out. I'm currently just using the Clarisonic brush head on my generic skin cleaner. I'm also looking for mascara recommendations. I hate clumping and wear glasses with easily irritated eyes, so I was getting my eyelashes professionally done to not have to bother with the smudgy mess or having to take it off mid day. The prorated cost of of it is 75 cents/day (worth it, so worth it) so I'm okay with mascara that will last a bit. Any suggestions would be really helpful, especially since I don't know if my skin will settle or keep continuing to change. But also, please tell me if I'm not the only weirdo who calculates out her beauty routine to a daily cost to justify buying nice things once in awhile.

What are your favorite lipsticks? So far, Tom Ford is the one I'm really familiar with (and I love it). I've only recently started wearing lipstick, as I mainly focus on eyes and hoarding fuckloads of lip balms and glosses .
  7. Hey y'all! I was perusing the forum on one of my days off a few weeksmonths ago, and saw a comment where someone had asked about eyeshadow application. I started firing off an answer... before I looked up and realized the post was at least four months old - if only I'd gotten over my weird forum social anxiety sooner! I scratched the post, but it's kind of hung with me since. What do!? Then I saw there were blogs. Hayyyy. Anyway, hi. You can call me AJ. As you may have seen from the blog description, I am a Walgreens employee who, until the restructuring of the Cosmetics department, worked primarily the Cosmetics department. Up until I started working that department, I didn't give a rip about makeup. Tomboy to the fullest, I am. I like NASCAR and baseball, I never gave a shit. But, when I started working Cos, I realized that I was intrigued, and that I could give better advice to my customers if I wore makeup myself. So, I bought some inexpensive makeup, dove into YouTube tutorials, and now I wear makeup daily. I feel pretty when my face looks nice. Since makeup and makeup skills improve the more you do them, my skills and the things I like to use have been ever evolving. Trends evolve too. But once you know the basics? You're set. Since I am headed to work very soon, I'll start diving more into this in earnest soon. What are some things y'all would like to know? Eyeshadow seems to be a popular one, as does contouring. The basics of makeup tools? Maybe some recommendations on specific products? Buying cruelty-free on a budget? Let me know!

I hope that got your attention. I was going to post this on Facebook, but then I realized I didn't want to bother with all the hilarious jokes about women, makeup, me, or some combination of the three from men practicing their stand-up comedy routines in the comments. So. I'm looking for recommendations for good quality but affordable makeup. I currently use Body Shop products, but I've had multiple bad experiences with the company so I'm looking for other recommendations. My current makeup strategy is: -dab some concealer under my eyes and on any spots and blend it with my fingers. -use a makeup brush to put some powder that's about a shade too dark all over my face. -apply a dark purple solid eyeliner which inevitably goes on too thick, which I then smudge a bit to try to, I don't know, make look like I meant to do that or something? -optional: put some brown shimmery eye shadow on my eyelids. -if I'm feeling especially ambitious I also add a little pale gold shimmery eye shadow to the inner corners of my eyes, and pretend to blend it. -apply mascara. I blink and little spots of mascara get transferred above my eyes and I wipe them off. -use the same brush I used to apply the face powder to apply some blush in what I think may be a shade of peach. I don't really like doing my makeup. I don't have great fine motor control, so I can't do liquid eyeliner or anything like that. I would love for my makeup routine to last no more than 10 minutes total. My main concern is to replace the face powder with a good sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer. I have a pale olive complexion contrasted by very dark hair and darkish eyes, so my main goal is to look less tired and anemic. I have sort of mildly dry skin but I'm also prone to mild breakouts. Does anyone have any advice? I could really use it!

    Best mascaras?

Okay I'm allergic to literally everything lol, I also wear glasses and my eyes are sensitive so I wanna buy a good hypoallergenic mascara.. Any recommendations? Right now i'm using Almay's one coat nourishing lengthening mascara and it works great but I wanna have a few other options.
  10. I am going to buy a new finishing powder. No color or shimmer, matte translucent only. I am considering the Amazonian Clay one by Tart or Bye Bye Pores by IT Cosmetics. I was never terribly impressed with the mineral veil from Bare Minerals. Any other suggestions? Drugstore or salon quality, either suggestion is fine.

    Concealer for pale skin?

Any recommendations for concealer for pale skin? Preferably not super expensive, but tbh if it's a holy grail I'll drop some money on it. I have some mild breakouts (damn these late teen years) , and my preferred BB doesn't quite cover them. Lots of products I've tried are too yellow and/or too dark, and tend to oxidize on me and look all orange
  12. I need a new primer. Redness is the main issue I deal with. I tried Pixi previously, and it was okay. I love IT Cosmetics, but the one they have is $30.00 so I would like to see if there is a more financially feasible option first.
  13. This has recently happened to me and I'm ridiculously sad about my Anastasia Contour Pallete. I bought my first one almost two years ago and I LOVED it! Like, I have no words to describe how well it worked, how good it looked on my face and how a little bit went a long way. Fast forward to last month when I bought a new one- exactly the same shade as the old one and from the same Sephora; but it's not the same. Okay, well I have no proof it's not the same, I guess my skin could have changed overnight and is just not receptive to it anymore, but barring that- it's different and it doesn't look anywhere near as good on my face as my old palette. I double checked the outside of both palettes and they are identical, all the names are the same. I compared inserts on both of them and they appear to be identical. There is hardly anything left in my old one, but I decided to apply the old one on one side of my face and the new one on the other side. I used the same brushes for each, and sure enough, my new palette is "different." The pigments aren't as pronounced in the highlighters, but are more so in the contours. I also have to use a lot more product on the highlighters and they still don't look right. I'm so upset about this! Is there some kind of hack I can do to my new one to make it better? This isn't the first time this has happened to me. My old favorite FiberWig mascara did a rebrand and changed something and the new version is terrible. So am I the only one who has had this happen to them? What other products stopped working for you? Oh, and if you have any suggestions about a new contour palette, please let me know!

    Best BB/CC Cream

I need a new BB/CC cream. Price isn't really a factor. I have pale skin that tends to look red and pink, and I have huge pores. What's the absolute best there is?

    Pencil Liner

Since @ShepherdontheRock started the thread on liquid liner, I thought I'd start one on pencil liner. Anyone have any recommendations for good pencils that don't break the bank? I'm not so bad at the application, I just can't find a good stick liner that has high pigmentation and doesn't smudge, smear, or disappear instantly. I have super oily lids and nothing lasts. I'm currently using the Revlon Colorstay retractable stick with the smudger at the end and it's just total crap.

    Snog, Marry, Avoid (UK)

For those not in the know, it's a "make-under" show. Basically, they take people "addicted to fakery", literally dress them down and provide "natural" make-up. I used to be a fan, but beyond the first season, I started being conflicted. Basically, I like the idea of showing people that they do look good without make-up. Make-up is practically non-existent in my life, and I enjoy the idea of other people not caring either. But that's where my problem with this show starts. Granted that on camera you look odd without make-up, but they only show men and women how to put on more natural make-up. It plays into the segment they have, in which the Great British public decides whether they'd "snog, marry, avoid" that person "before" and "after". That rubs me completely the wrong way. Usually participants get a major "avoid" in their chosen looks, and get "snog" or "marry" in their new "natural" looks. Public shaming for expressing oneself however one chooses, really pisses me off. I personally don't think purple hair is all that attractive, but if that's your deal, you sure as hell don't need my approval. In my books that's just policing other people's bodies, and I'm not cool with that. As I said, I'm a conflicted about this show, because yes, I'm a big fan of going au naturel. But no, I would never tell anyone else what to wear. And no, why the hell does the "public" get to decide what's best for other people in terms of their attractiveness? Not to mention that it usually reinforces gender-roles, in terms of attire. I still do like watching though. But in any case...thoughts?

    The Maxwells and makeup/hair

I have noticed that none of the Maxwell ladies ever wear any makeup or appear to do anything with their hair. Have they ever said anything about this apparent 'convinction'? I haven't been able to find anything online and I'm curious.
