I saw this thing on Pinterest where you could make initials out of buttons and I thought it was just the cutest thing, especially since I just inherited a giant thing of buttons. Well, my 5yo decided buttons weren't blingy enough for her (I really have no idea where she gets this girly-girl super sparkly thing) and requested gemstones. So that's what I did. We got a cardboard letter for Joann, painted it gold (her idea, of course) and tonight I hot glued on the jewels and a loop of gold ribbon to hang it from. I ended up with a couple of blisters. I really don't remember hot glue guns getting this HOT when I used to use them more often! But I just love how it turned out. I can't wait to see her reaction! I got a cardboard letter for my son too, but he wants buttons and red paint, which I have to go buy, so it will be a bit for that one. I think that's going to look great too, but it will definitely take longer than the hour it took me to do the jewels.
Does anyone here besides me have a slight or not-so-slight infatuation with the royal families of Europe? Interesting to know they still exist, beyond the British Kate & William we tend to read more about in the U.S. press. The eventual queen of Sweden (after her grandfather the King and ger mother the Crown Princess) will be Princess Estelle of Sweden. I think she's four years old now and she is incredibly cute. Here's a picture of her with her parents. There are entire tumblr blogs devoted to her! Just another (more pleasant) rabbit hole to fall into.
