  1. Don't know if this has been discussed, but I just saw it on People mag. He claims that he stabbed her to death in his sleep after taking cold medicine. http://people.com/crime/aspiring-pastor-stab-wife-death-cold-medicine/

  3. https://www.yahoo.com/beauty/dad-marries-terminally-ill-daughter-143702269.html This article caught my eye and turned my stomach. Can't do much background footwork at the moment... but it felt very FJ discussable... 16 months old!!! If she were 6 and wedding obsessed as some little ones are, I'd feel better about this. But this feels so.... fundieicky
  4. Several of my husband's brothers live and work in the Colorado city area and tonight there is suppose to be a big rally to protest the recent (very obvious) corruption in policing/politics/land rights. It is suppose to have all the communities out there coming together, Hildale, Colorado city, cane Beds and all faiths, not just FLDS, but the many non FLDS that live out there (like my BIL's) and AUB. There is suppose to be some real news coverage. Colorado city is landlocked so far from the county seat, I hope that the AZ government will finally step in and end this craziness. The area IMO could really grow, having a state college, cheap housing and cheap cost to do business. It could be a real fresh start for many if the few corrupt still left could leave. It will be interesting to watch it unfold tonight. http://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/archive/2015/10/24/ccj-short-creek-residents-organize-public-rally-against-flds-corruption/#.VivdYWBq3ug There is a facebook link on the bottom of the article that has local FLDS and non- FLDS already discussing the issues.
  5. How long till he's Noodleness becomes a true religion and people start praying to him/her? and christians condemn them of satan? http://bigstory.ap.org/4191999673474f2fa25674d5888297f4&utm_source=android_app&utm_medium=mail&utm_campaign=share
  6. My daughter in Connecticut told me about this yesterday. The Upstate (SC) Atheist group has been trying to volunteer at the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen for about a year, but have been told by the director that they are not welcome. The director has said that she would not feed the hungry rather than allow the atheist group to help out. No other group has ever turned down the atheists' help before. The Upstate Atheists will be volunteering at the Greer Soup Kitchen on November 16. I think I may go help them. http://www.goupstate.com/article/201310 ... ?p=2&tc=pg http://www.opposingviews.com/i/religion ... eer-group# Didn't Jesus say something about feeding the hungry in those pesky Beatitudes?

    Quiverfull in the UK

Here's an interesting read from the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22526252 (not breaking the link because it's the BBC). There's also a link at the bottom for a podcast airing tomorrow called "The Womb as a Weapon."
  8. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/12/21/p ... y-display/ Some theists want the right to be open with their faith and have no one complain. Fair enough, but some don't want to extend the same rights to nonbelievers.

  16. http://www.thestar.com/news/article/119 ... women?bn=1 One year since this movement started in response to a cop's comment that if women wouldn't dress provacitvely, they wouldn't be raped. edited because I initially blamed a lawyer - the statement was made to law students.

  18. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/1 ... 29609.html FB hasn't given a specific reason. Oddly enough, though I thought the Duggars went way over the line with Jubilee, I'm in sympathy with this mom, perhaps because of the way she's holding her newborn, who she knows won't live.

    Teddy bear returned

With all the bad things we read in the news I couldn't help but think this so sweet.Any one with kids knows how important their favoriate toy is and how upset they get when they loose it.I know this this a little old but I couldn't help but say hats off to these guys for returning the bear. With all the heartless people we read about in the news it nice to know their are people who still care. http://www.yakima-herald.com/stories/20 ... r-old-girl

  22. An atheist group from WI is targeting a Jesus statue in MT that has been there as a WWII memorial since the 50's. I personally don't care too much about the statue (i didn't even know about it until a friend posted this on FB) but I do have a problem with a group from WI coming into my home state and trying to tell us what to do. www.theblaze.com/stories/obey-the-const ... us-statue/
  23. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -pill.html This guy thinks he is 'helping' to repopulate his home city of Dundee, Scotland, by getting 14 different women pregnant with his children and now having a total of 16 at the age of 35. All of them are living entirely off state benefits and he does not have to pay child support as he isn't earning money. He's certainly got himself a 'quiver' there, I wonder what the fundys would think? Is he better or worse than those ebil people who use contraception and don't have any children? :?:
