    My Fundie Youtube Channel

Hey all! I've been working hard on making Youtube videos lately. I talk about different subjects and people that relate to fundamentalism while doing my makeup (GRWM = Get ready with me). Like the Pearls, Bill Gothard, the Duggars, etc. My goal is to be educational plus funny. I inject a lot of memes and jokes in the videos and I like to manipulate clips I find of my subjects online. I am shooting all of these on my iphone and I'm learning to use the editing software, so sometimes the videos can be rough at times. I wanted to share my videos with FJ because this was the forum that really got me invested in fundies. I also feel like this community might get some of the more obscure references to different people in the videos. This has become a labor of love for me. I am going to link to my 3 best videos (in my opinion, at least.) Feel free to check them out and let me know what you think. Vision Forum The Pearls The Duggars Part 1
  2. So I actually attended an IFB church for over half a year, September 2017 to March 2018. Placing an excessive priority on church growth and numbers is why I left. It had nothing to do with the submissive woman stuff, or the spanking stuff, or anything else you tend to read about in the horror stories. Above all else, they expected men and women to both be, in effect, master ‘salespersons’ for God (through traditional door-to-door gimmick especially, and occasionally other methods) — and if you hadn’t personally led anyone to Christ, that was WAY worse than a woman wearing pants to church, which was actually not a big deal for women there. I know — that breaks the stereotype of everything you might read and hear about the IFBers — but I’m very serious: they would have been FAR better with me aggressively hauling in unbelievers to pray the Sinner’s Prayer, than they would have been if I were just a quiet, meek, long skirt wearing woman who unobtrusively sat in the pews from week to week and did little else than submit to the preaching. (For the record, I sat quietly and listened in my female dress slacks from week to week, and not one comment was ever made on my manner of dress -- their only rule was for men and women to dress modestly, and I guess my pants were deemed ok in that regard.) Instead, the deal-breakers for me were their naivete (thinking that today’s feminists and atheists are eager to hear the Word of God, which they aren’t), and their eisegetical approach to evangelism and soul-winning (which included no emphasis on the Spirit, had them falling prey to Easy Believism, and opened my eyes to seeing the true pitfalls of Decision Theology), to be too much to contend with further. Would still rather deal with them than Vision Forum Calvinists and Gothardites any day of the week.

    Boy Drowns at Fairhaven Baptist

A 12 year old boy just drowned in the pool at Fairhaven Baptist Church while there were 2 adults in the pool. This is the place that CNN covered in there piece about abuse in the name of religous disclipline, along with Hephzibah House. Fairhaven has a connected school and college.
  4. OK, there's only like 105K people in my whole county, so you can imagine my startled reaction to see a quarter-page ad in our little local newspaper, with a "multi-millionaire philanthropist" coming to speak (today) at a Baptist church near me. His qualifications (selected from the ad): "After his salvation, his application of Biblical principles to business and finance made him a success at making money and giving money to God's work." Other claims: financial founder of 10 Bible colleges, over 1,000 churches, gifts in excess of $35 million (USD, I assume) to ministries, etc. Dear FJites, have I mentioned recently that Google is my TOTALLY BFF, but you guys are way near the top?....His name: Dr. Russell Anderson. I don't know much about the IFB groups, but when a FJ search indicated that the Pissing Preacher was a graduate of his college, I was SEVERELY tempted to attend. Three sessions today (10 am Eastern US, 11 am, and 6:30 pm). Do I give up some precious Farmville time to learn about his teaching on Christian Stewardship? If I go, should I take a notebook? A bodyguard? A triple-swig of the communion wine, because I'll need it? Rescue ferrets? Inquiring minds like mine want to know!

    Okay, Gang...I'm going in!

Okay. I've been hanging around this forum and others, taking in alot of information about church abuses, the IFB and survivor stories from within certain church groups. I have taken part in much snarking but at the same time felt great compassion for the children growing up in these environments. My heart hurts for their certain worldview. (the world isn't so bad! Its kind of cool out here) But lately, I have felt like I am only taking 3rd or 4th hand information as fact and making judgements on things i have not witnessed for myself. Somehow that feels almost as icky as some of the things we despise in these fundamentalists. Also, Im just really, really curious. So, I have decided to put my money where my mouth is....I found an IFB church in the town near me and I plan on going this Sunday to see just exactly what they are all about. Because I want to check myself here, I welcome any feedback before I go. I ran my own mental checklist and: a. my motive is pure. I just want to see what exactly they are preaching and teaching. It is in my own neighborhood, I would kind of like to know if there is any real abuse happening here. b. I am secure enough in myself and don't feel that I can be sucked in. c. I like my view of the world and don't feel like i need someone to guide me through it. I am 50 years old so that ship has nearly sailed, lol d. i am not afraid for my eternal soul, nor do i feel the need to blame bad things or wrong decisions on some dude with a pointy tail. e. worst case, if there is a good message and nice people - then all is well in mercer county. okay, guys and gals....what do you think? should i leave well enough alone or are you curious too? p.s. i promise to wear pants, own my unique and empowered womanhood, promote feminism and under no circumstances advocate spanking infants

    Independent Baptists

Are there any former independent Baptists on here? Would love to swap some stories!
  7. I don't know it this is relevant, but I was wondering about all the religions that are similar to the Duggars' but aren't quite the same. I know for one that the schwieters, they're an apostolic bunch, are very similar. I went with one for a bit, a few months, and they all wore the very modest clothes and the girls had to have very long hair. And in the end, the boy I went with, ended up marrying at 18 and having a baby not soon after with the girl he left for. The only difference really, is that they allowed dancing and I went swing dancing quite a few times.
  8. I think Ben will go into Seminary and become a pastor - and then maybe in about 10-15 years go into politics. Jessa will be his "helpmeet", a pastor's wife, and running the show behind the scenes. They'll have about 7 children in the next 12 years - and they'll break off a bit from Michelle and JimBob ( "leave and cleave") - and will ultimately be the most outspoken fundamentalists of the family... They will remain in Arkansas but will travel extensively for their ministry, put out books, and have a strong social media presence... That's my prediction! What's yours?!
  9. Is there a liturgy at the IFB ? How is a cult / Mass ? Is there often the Eucharist ? Do they read the Bible during the mass ? Do the Bible readings follow an annual order, or just what the pastor wants ? Old AND New Testament ? Is the sermon connected to the biblical text ? The sermons speaks often about what ? Do they sing a lot? What ? In the Eucharist, how does it take place ? With a host or real bread ? Wine or grape juice ? Who can take the Eucharist (child or adult) ? Is baptisms during mass? Are theyre are other ceremonies during Mass ? For former IFB : do you liked to go at the mass ? THank you for answering my questions

    Anybody familiar with Peter Ruckman?

Until moments ago, when I was reading about various strands of KJV only-ism, I was under the misapprehension that Pensacola's weirdness began and ended with PCC. But that is not the case: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Ruckman (not breaking the wikipedia link) ^ This fellow believes that the 1611 KJV "corrected" mistakes in the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts (by magic! we don't need no stinking scholarship!). He also espouses some really repugnant racist stuff, and some entertainingly weird stuff about aliens. Even some fundies find him alarming, partly because of the aliens, partly because he can't seem to stay married to the same spouse, and partly because he uses insulting language. Some sample hand-wringing: wayoflife.org/database/ruckman.html Anyway, Ruckman (I keep wanting to type the last name of our patron saint!) is the pastor of an IFB and the head of a Bible Institute (in the same city as PCC, which suggests he plays poorly with others), and his oddities have been lovingly detailed here. The tract is all kinds of special. thehidalgograincompany.wordpress.com/2010/09/22/the-peculiar-of-pensacola-part-5/
  11. This is a link to the first of nine blog posts by a woman named Ruth Burger, detailing physical and abuse at the hands of her father, "Dr." Kenneth Copley. Warning: This is very triggering. http://incongruouscircumspection.blogsp ... posed.html For a long time, Copley worked at ATI...which I find interesting, given how Gothard feels about adoption. (However, Burger ended up in the Copley family as the result of an "interrupted" fundie adoption.) Kenneth Copley is currently a pastor of discipleship at Brownburg Baptist Church, Brownburg, Indiana. And no, the state has not prosecuted this $#!+!!!

    Baptist churches

What are the differences between the various Baptist churches. I know there is IFB and Southern Baptist (I was raised as an SB, but we stopped going to church when I was pretty young, like, 8 or so, then started going again when I was around 10, then stopped again a while later because we kept moving around and Mom hated finding new churches) Anyway, the other day when I was driving I saw a sign for the association of regular baptist churches and somehting about a regular baptist press too. What's the difference between SBs, IFBs, and regular Baptists? (I had never even heard of RBs before I saw that sign!)

    That Old Black Bible

I found this... interesting: http://thatoldblackbible.blogspot.com/ Okay, this guy is part of IFBC (and has poor grammar skills for proof), so I understand why he would favor King James Version. But do they really believe that this is the TRUE version? And all other "counterfeits" are of the Devil? This is complete ludicrous to me, and I don't understand the reasoning. 1) King James version is just that- a version. It's translated from Hebrew and Greek. But aren't the other versions too? Not to mention, it's only a couple of hundred-years old. What makes KJ version Divine, and all others inspired by Satan? 2) And I guess asking why the Koran or Torah isn't included under God's word is out of the question. But the Bible? Not even that is God's word. Only the King James version. Anyways, any insight as to why they believe this? Biblical or historical proof? I was just taken aback to know that the Bible I've been reading this whole time is actually the works of the Devil His wife's blog: http://pelkeyphotos.blogspot.com/2012/0 ... d-day.html

    IFB Spectrum

Question for former (and current, if there are any) IFB-ers out there: How wide is the spectrum of IFB churches? What does a "liberal" IFB church look like (obviously 'liberal' is a relative term), and what are the 'rules' and practices of the most extreme conservative ones? I went to one last week that seemed pretty 'liberal' (e.g. still KJV doesn't need to be 1611, women said "Amen" in response to the pastor's rhetorical questions, a couple women with hair above the shoulders, etc), but I'm not sure how wide the spectrum is.
  16. I know on a a Duggar episode, they visited this church. I was wondering if anyone knew if it had any Gothard or Fundie connections? Here it is... wwwDOTbethelministriesDOTorg/pastorsDOThtm

    More Phoney Jews

I post on a public forum that is largely populated by IFBs. These folks are big supporters of fake Jews of the Lina and Tony type. Anyway, I just lost my patience with an apologist, she's a skirt wearing, head covering fundy who doesn't believe women should preach or vote (but spending 12 hours a day on a forum is ok). Oh her latest that got me going was Jesus wasn't a Jew so the phony Jews are more Jewish than the Jman. She's a big fan of Zola Levitt but claims she stopped financially supporting his ministry when he died. Her husband is purportedly a retired prof from some bible college in the South and she says with all conviction that her husband knows that one can believe in Jesus as the messiah and still be faithful to the Jewish religion. I really had to vent before my head exploded. edited for spelling
  18. Heads up...I haven't seen this yet, but I wanted to let you all know. Links not broken, these guys will not mind. From The Revealer (http://therevealer.org/) newsletter that I just got: So yeah, not yet online. But, here's an additional description from the Fallen From Grace blog: http://fallenfromgrace.net/2011/06/17/j ... -magazine/ I knew someone who went to the Roloff "girls' home" in 1978. She was more rebellious than her older sister, but not THAT rebellious. She told me she figured out how to work the system so she could get sprung faster...and she couldn't wait until she turned 18. But it was crap then and as we know, it's crap now.
