    Unassisted Fundie Births

If anyone is interested, here is a link to a website about unassisted homebirths and “herbal remedies” for infertility and birthing. This story in particular is written by an obviously fundie woman and it made me laugh out loud at a few parts: http://birthjunkie.com/category/hospital-transfer-for-birth/ Here are some quotes you may find amusing since it’s a long read: “Sometime during the pushing, my midwife said that there was too much blood. A moment later she was more emphatic. “We have to stop this bleeding.” We all started praying against the bleeding. My husband commanded it to stop in the name of Jesus, and the midwife exclaimed, “It stopped! It was just like a faucet being turned off.” “As we approached my due date of September 24th, my husband thought he heard from the Lord that the baby would be born on the 15th and that it was another boy!” ^^^Guess what! She didn’t have the baby for another two weeks and it was a girl, lol! God didn’t talk to you dude. It was all just wishful thinking. ”The baby kept coming down and then going back up, and they used a vacuum extractor that wouldn’t work properly (Praise the Lord, as I found out later how risky their use is! I saw a 20/20 show just a week or so later, and was horrified),” Well if you saw it on 20/20, it must be true! She also got her earliest info about unnecessary csections on Phil Donahue, lol. The rest of the very long read is filled with all nine of her birth stories. It vilified the hell out of doctors and hospitals of course. It’s to be expected from a site dedicated to births without even a midwife present. It’s all about trusting the lord enough to have your birth at home without any help *eyeroll* I am going to keep looking around the website but I doubt they will post any stories of unassisted homebirths that have a horrible outcome. She mentions her sister having a funeral for a baby and her sister has had 5 unassisted homebirths. She never says if the lost baby was an unassisted Home birth.
  2. I am a long time lurker and only occasional poster, but I just had to talk about this with someone. This blog entry is from a fundie Catholic. She is an online friend of Abigail and they had medically fragile babies around similar times. Here is the entry I want to discuss: aknottedlife.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-story-of-lazarus-for-james-3rd.html The original story is here: learningtobeanewlywed.blogspot.com/2011/03/today-james-is-6-months-old.html So here is my problem with her: What about the medical professionals that worked tirelessly on her baby for 61 minutes??? Why does Bishop Sheen get credit for this baby's recovery? This woman made a (in hind sight) horrible choice to have a home birth 40 minutes away from a decent hospital. Yes, most homebirths are safe, but hers was the poster birth for what could go wrong. She made a bad decision, a horrible thing happened to her baby, medical professionals saved him, and a would be saint gets credit? I am very happy her son is doing well (although he definitely has some residual side effects of anoxia), but give credit where credit is due. Second, WTH is that Lazarus redux about. Bible fan fiction? Sigh. If you keep reading you will see she has squeezed out 2 more kids during the 3 years since her son's birth. She admits she cannot handle NFP, claims not to want anymore kids, but is too pious to resort to condoms. She has 5 kids in 7 years. Her blog is full of woe is me, but most of it is her own doing. :angry-banghead:
  3. Both Mommies look very happy. I guess Anna could go another week. Don't they generally induce around 42 weeks if labor hasn't started? I wonder if Stevie would allow one or both to be born on a Sunday?
