  1. I was quite taken about the funny and exciting-to-read Harry Potter discussion, that were sparked on the other threads now. So let´s have a thread about it! Talk about why you love it or why you hate it. What´s the best part, what´s the worst part and what a child (or a teen, or a adult!) could gain from it. And what else books are dear to you? What are you reading to your children and at what age? What do you let them read? In the Nym household, we keep to the classics, mostly. My oldest is going to be a First Grader in September. That´s our Children´s Book Style: Grimm´s fairy tales and similar fairy tales, Austrian Folk Tales and similar, Wilhelm Busch´s rhyming picture stories, Mira Lobe ("The little I-am-I"), Else Ury (Short Stories and Nesthäkchen), Paul Biegel ("Tulle Dwarfs"),... you get the picture :). Waldorf books like a Jahreszeitenbuch/the Year-around-book are also really great! Would you recommend Harry Potter for a under-10yrs-old? Valerie loves everything with witches, fairies, ghosts and all the like. We already started "That Lovely Mister Devil" from Christine Nöstlinger And both my girls adore Bibi Blockberg! Mr Nym says, although he isn´t a fan of Harry Potter character, he likes that it seems to create a quite positive image about Boarding Schools, so he is okay with us both reading the first book together with her, if she would like it.

    The Theory (HP)

I mentioned in one of the threads that I'd attended a charity dinner where JK was speaking and had a theory that I wound up defending in a Tumblr challenge a few years back. My theory is that Molly Weasley had her own Deathly Hallows in the final battle. While viewed as a children’s story, or a physical quest, there was much more to the Deathly Hallows than that, the mastery of death could lie not just in objects, but in the right mix of people. The theory, hotly debated amongst vigilant believers, was in current contest as those three Hallows were united as they dueled against Bellatrix Lestrange. There was Luna, the Resurrection Stone, the girl who fed thestrals, missed a mother and danced in and out of everyone else’s version of reality. The girl whose haunting alternate ways so often helped others get back to themselves when feeling lost or alone asking nothing in return, helping them resurrect who they were when they vulnerable. There was Hermione, the Invisibility Cloak that had shielded others so many times, often invisible and unthanked in her constant support of everyone. The cloak’s true gift lay in the ability to shield others, not just a single wearer and never tired out. For Hermione had never left Harry’s side, had helped Hagrid for ages on his case for Buckbeak, had knit hat after hat for house elf rights, had been the constant plan maker to hide them from trouble. The girl who was tortured to shield others. There was Ginny, the Elder Wand. The girl who stood toe to toe with Voldemort in a very private battle for months on end and ensured the only causality would be herself. If it is assumed the castle wasn’t doused with Flelix Feliciats, then Ginny was actively thwarting the giant, murderous creature she kept releasing while blacked out from killing. Chamber opening, rebellion leading, unmastered Ginny who showed Tom Riddle having a thing was not the same as being able to use it. Their mistress was one Molly Weasley, who could selflessly possess the attributes. A daughter by blood, a daughter by heart from across the hill, a daughter to be. When faced with a depraved killer who had felled notable duelists, Molly could not be beat. The mother in her, the fresh grief she had might have been enough, but her Hallows ensured Bellatrix would never harm again.
  3. This is the thread to discuss the new Harry Potter. I am leaving this post as is so even previews do not contain anything to upset anyone. You do NOT (and should not) need to spoiler in this thread. Off we go!
  4. so, there I was in a harry potter rp, as usual and suddenly it hit me, if the HP world was real and a fundie kid got a letter, what would happen? what if one of pp's kid got it? would he go full uncle vernon on them? would hagrid pay them a visit? where would they be sorted? jessa is a slytherin 100% imo. i'm very entretained by the thought of a fundie at hogwarts. lol

A page from the HP Creatures coloring book. I used crayons.

    Dragon's eye

I did the eye weeks ago, and it took me ages to do the background out of pure laziness. I've discovered that some backgrounds can be boring, and that makes it take way longer to do. And makes me pay less attention to do a good job with coloring (strokes, filling out color, etc). This is from the Harry Potter: magical creatures coloring book. I colored with crayons.
  10. J K Rowling has decided to publish the script of Harry Potter play The Cursed Child as a book to be published on 31st of July this year. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2016/02/10/harry-potter-new-book-jk-rowling-play-cursed-child_n_9201640.html
  11. ! {TEXT1}: This conversation started in one of the Joshley Madison threads: viewtopic.php?f=87&t=26846&start=40#p1012531 Except the Malfoys ultimately chose their son over Voldemort. Voldemort is their Gothard, and they hate muggles and muggle-borns just as much as Gothardites hate teh gays and non-Christians. When the Malfoys were about to get everything they ever wanted - the downfall of Harry and Voldemort was on the brink of victory - Mrs. Malfoy was only concerned about the safety of her son. She was willing to throw everything away and risk death/torture for her son. These crap holes would never do that. And don't compare butt weasels to Ma and Pa Keller, that's mean to butt weasels

    J.K. Rowling - Harry Potter 8 - Hoax

http://www.breathecast.com/articles/har ... ing-12523/ Apparently, Rowling has decided to continue the series. Daniel Radcliffe even said he'd be up for playing the part of Harry in the films again. On the one hand, I'm happy about this, but on the other, the series ended in a pretty good place and I'm not sure another novel is needed.
  13. Not breaking CNN link http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/12/showbiz/m ... ?hpt=en_c1 JK Rowling is writing a script for Warner Bros. for a film based on FBAWTFT. Exciting definitely, but this: made my knees week. Please, oh please may JK Rowling write a screenplay for Bathilda Bagshot's A History of Magic. Or you know, maybe she could just go ahead and write that book itself.
  14. I don't get Snape. Well, I do, I just don't get the appeal. I think he's a brilliantly-written character, very well-rounded, and St. Alan does an awesome job of playing him in the movies. But I don't get why people like Snape as a person. Up until around the fifth book, I never once thought Snape was particularly awesome. I mean, shit, he was a giant asshole, possibly the biggest one in the series barring Voldemort. I did like him in OOTP whenever he and Umbridge were on the same page, but that's about it. I didn't really begin to like him until the later part of Deathly Hallows, when he stopped being such a douchnozzle. Then again, I didn't like him until he was dead and then the Prince's Tale... Anyway, I don't get the Snape fangirls. At all. He's not sexy (in the books, anyway, and it's not like St. Alan had to be prettyfied in order to play him- sort of the opposite, imo), he's a raging dickhead most of the series, and it seems to be because of a grudge he's holding against a guy who's been dead for about 16 years. I ran into the fangirls well before DH, books or movies, and fuuuuuuck were they annoying. What's the appeal?! I'd also like to know why Draco and Lucius Malfoy are supposed to be so appealing too- they're fucking Death Eaters, major assfaces as well, and it seems the only thing going for them is that they're both tired of being kicked around by Voldemort and are played by rather good-lucking actors.
