  1. It's heartbreaking that we need another thread on this horrible topic. Continued from here:
  2. I thought I'd start this thread as a catch all place for the various gun related stupidity that takes place (outside Florida of course). To start, here's an idiot down in La Porte, Texas I'm thinking of getting a dash cam because of this person.
  3. And a dumbass Ron Paul supporter did this last month. Of course thanks to our wonderful media we're just hearing about this now. They're worried about who is fornicating who and don't have time to talk about reich wingers doing garbage like this.
  4. It may be incredibly cynical of me to start a whole thread only to discuss mass shootings and gun violence, but it means we won't have to start a new thread every time gun related shit happens again. It is my sincere hope that this thread will not be used all that often, but... there was a mass shooting again today. This time in a church in Texas, with upwards of 20 people killed, including children.
  5. YouTube has gone ahead and done this This led to immediate gun nut triggering and whining about how ebil and mean and nasty the googles are being now. Of course there is an upside for the connoisseurs of the PornHubs....next time Florida Man gets caught watching spanktrovision he can claim it's now the only place he can go to in order to watch videos on guns.
  6. I just saw this on FB. Personally if people on my side of the political aisle want to arm themselves I do not have a problem with that. Not with the rise of the Klan, neo-Nazis, and other hate groups with an administration that looks the other way added into the mix. If people feel the need to have firearms to protect themselves from the right wing I don't judge them now. Hell, even I've thought of it from time to time.
  7. Last monday the CDC published a report according to which guns are the third leading cause of death for US children. If it were an illness with the same level of preventability as gun violence we would be talking about an horrifying epidemic and demanding vaccines. As a foreigner I'll never ever understand this aspect of US culture. As a mom I am shocked. I can imagine that many look at the stats and think that it won't happen to their own children because they are white, their family isn't violent or abusive and they stay away from dangerous neighbourhoods and from the wrong friends. But the callousness of this reasoning is breathtakingly frightening. https://www.google.it/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/opinions/children-are-dying-because-of-americas-lax-gun-policies/2017/06/20/21935b94-55c2-11e7-b38e-35fd8e0c288f_story.html And here you can find a link to the study by the CDC. I thought of bumping the old thread about gun control but it was inactive for more than a year and already 21 pages long. Feel free to merge though.
  8. The NRA recruitment video that is even upsetting gun owners It's amazing to me how liberals and the left are simultaneously cowering, triggered snowflakes and also an armed paramilitary threat that needs to be crushed by armed patriotic citizens. In other news that I'm sure is in no way connected to this new ad... Gun Sales Are Plummeting and Trump Wants to Help

  10. Well, the Kansas Board of Regents seems to have more sense that the state legislature does. And by the way - I believe that the University of Missouri is also adopting a clear bag policy. http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/article145594509.html

  13. I stumbled upon this family on social media. They have 9 (soon 10) children, they blog and (of course!!!), they sing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWzycOUrIYo. Their blog is full of crazy: http://www.johnstonfamilyministry.com A few favourites: http://www.johnstonfamilyministry.com/blog/ten-most-common-gun-control-soundbites-refuted (Let's shoot each other!) http://www.johnstonfamilyministry.com/article/ten-commandments-training-children (Let's hit our kids!) http://www.johnstonfamilyministry.com/blog/check-out-our-new-t-shirt-designs (Let's hang people who are pro-choice! ... or something ...) Have any of you ever heard of the Johnston Family?
  14. http://www.pitch.com/news/blog/20850297/kansas-lawmaker-leaves-loaded-handgun-in-committee-room I might love that this is from The Pitch and not from a traditional mainstream news source. And oh the irony that the dumbass left a gun in a committee room where people had been testifying about a fear of guns on college campuses (and hello, how many shootings have we seen on college campuses?)

Guns Aren't the Problem, Ammunition Is

While I strongly dislike guns, I do realize that people have some right to own one and that they may actually be collectibles, like dolls, stamps, coins, or other such things. But an empty gun won't hurt anyone, unless of course you swing it at someone. It is the ammunition that really causes harm. So instead of selling bullets that are designed to explode on impact and cause great damage, all guns should either do this or this No exceptions. Just sayin...

    When Does It stop?

Given the horrific incident that took place at the club in Orlando, I cannot bring myself to be funny or post puns. I am totally fed up with humanity and how someone can senselessly take away the multiples of lives with the gutless use of an assault rifle. It just sickens me and tears at my heart. That this sick bastard would use his hatred for LGBT people as a means for perpetrating his terrorist action is completely sub-human. Yet, I do not hold this against people of any particular beliefs or race. This wasn't about Islam or Muslims. This was about someone with a totally blackened heart, full of hatred for people that were of NO threat to him, or anyone else for that matter. My heart cries for these innocent lives lost, those injured, and the families of everyone directly impacted by this act. My heart cries for the continued loss of life at the hands of gun violence. As I ask in my title for this blog entry, when does it stop? Just sayin...

    The Armor of Light (documentary)

Evangelical minister Rob Schenck questions whether it's possible to be pro-life and pro-gun and opens up a whole can of worms in the process. http://www.armoroflightfilm.com/
  18. One Edward Adams, 23, of Dubuque found out the hard way that if one steals something one should not really be posting pictures of the theft on the internetz. thonline.com/news/tri-state/article_16228b32-fc91-52e7-b467-5468e7de1ccb.html
  19. Facepalm. ketv.com/news/omaha-pastor-stopped-for-second-time-at-airport-with-gun-in-carryon/39441022 How the hell does one make that mistake anyways? WWJG? Who would Jesus grease?
  20. So it would seem there is some nut who is an "active Shooter" at the planned parenthood in Colorado Springs. Seems to be a rather fluid situation but takes it back to the original topic of how INSANE people who claim to be Pro-Life can be. If this is a case of yet another Nut Job who feels that he is saving the fertilized eggs I would love to understand the logic behind killing actual people to further his Pro-Life agenda. Why? Someone please explain to me how the heck you can be both Pro-Life and Pro-Death Penalty at the same time?? How liberating it must be to live a life completely devoid of logic. Planned Parenthood IS not just a "Baby Killing Factory" Why oh why must people refuse to educate themselves prior to taking a stand on something that they clearly do not understand... What the actually do: Abortion is a measly 3% of what they do there. 16% of what they do is Cancer Screening and prevention. 35% is CONTRACEPTION, you know that thing that you can do to the heathens that will stop them from needing an Abortion in the first place. I don't care what religion you belong to, there are so VERY few women who just leave the number of children that they have up to God's will. If that were the case you would see families with WAY more than 5 or 6 kids. Fertility issues my ass, more like you went for it and now that you are knee deep in diapers you suddenly are rethinking your whole "his will" stance. Don't get me wrong, I am with you, I am a big fan of controlling the number of mini me's I plan on setting on the world. Just drop the crap and let people be!! Leave families to decide what their family should look like and go home and make the family that you have always wanted, No kids, 12 cats whatever your deal is, it's all good. If your God is so Big and Scary with SEVERE wrath then leave it to him to deal with the sinners, I mean an eternity of suffering in Hell seems worse than anything that your micro brain can dream up. NOTE: Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, please forgive my Noobishness and move or delete or take away my weekly jellybean.
  21. A random killing spree in Kalamazoo has left 6 dead 3 wounded, including a teen. Suspect is a white male in his 50s. When is it going to end? Iy thoughts are with the victims and their families. http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/21/us/michigan-kalamazoo-county-shooting-spree/
  22. John Piper Gun Controversy

John Piper wrote an article in which he disagrees with Jerry Falwell Jr. on having/carrying guns… https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2015/12/23/john-piper-why-i-disagree-with-jerry-falwell-jr-on-christians-and-guns/ …and you can imagine how well it’s going over: http://sharperiron.org/filings/122215/31602 http://www.puritanboard.com/showthread.php/88541-John-Piper-Guns-Self-Defense http://baylyblog.com/blog/2015/12/john-get-your-gun Piper is unmanly, Piper is a wimp, Piper is a heretic, etc. I will say, though, that I thought one part of it-- which actually has nothing to do with guns-- was kinda cray: Maybe don't even call the police because Jesus.
