  1. Last Monday a Dominican monk was on air on Radio Maria (an important conservative Catholic radio) answering to people's questions. He said that natural disasters are caused by the original sin and consequently the last earthquakes that destroyed many towns in Central Italy can be linked to our state legalising civil partnerships for same sex couples. The RCC distanced itself from this position, denying it being the official teching of the Church and defining the statement as bordering to superstition. Radio Maria ended its collaboration with the priest and apologised to the population that lives in the afflicted areas (not to gay people though, those are filthy sinners ready for hellfire /sarcasm). Unfortunately the monk didn't take back his statements nor apologised but said that people in Vatican should reread the RCC Catechism 'cause he is right, of course. www.thelocal.it/20161105/italian-priest-blames-earthquakes-on-gay-unions https://www.google.it/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2016/nov/05/italian-priest-blames-earthquakes-on-gay-civil-unions%3F0p19G%3De&ved=0ahUKEwiE-96NlpLQAhUG1xQKHRPOC8MQFggiMAI&usg=AFQjCNHTiAtQb7PXfa5G2399X6jxV68Q2A&sig2=9DxH7wo6u2p1cBAyGxqZiA Leaving alone the offensive, insulting and utterly unacceptable beliefs that are the basis of discrimination towards gay people, from a theological point of view the whole reasoning makes no sense. The RCC believes in evolution sparked and guided by a superior intelligence, namely god, that governs through the laws of nature that we can discover through science. Science tells us that earthquakes existed long before humans had the possibility to commit the "original sin". Logic says earthquake and sin have no relation whatsoever. Right?
  2. http://www.vox.com/2016/3/7/11172846/supreme-court-alabama-gay-lesbian-adoption After a year of dealing with Alabama's bullshit, the Supreme Court has chosen to give them the big 'ol middle finger. Case background: A lesbian woman had three kids with her former partner, who birthed all three. She adopted the three kids in Georgia after establishing temporary residency so both her and her partner would have equal custodial rights. When the couple broke up, Alabama refused to acknowledge the adoption. Alabama ruled that Georgia "mistakenly" granted parental rights to the mom who did not birth the children. The Supreme court not only ruled 8-0 in favor of the non-birth mom, but refused to hear oral arguments and even sign their decision. Haha!
  3. I'm curious. The Duggars (and other extremist fundies) are loud talkers on their political stance regarding abortion and gay rights but do they have much knowledge on legislation beyond these two hot button topics? I'm thinking about budgetary concerns, involvement in the middle east, our active conflicts, etc, etc. I know that they are Republican and lean far to the right, but have they talked about anything else? It just seems that being of limited education and minimal communication skills that they stick to these two issues and nothing else. I could be missing it. Has anyone heard of their larger scope of political beliefs?
  4. the duggers get more then they ask for. http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.co ... ppens_next Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the parents starring in "19 Kids And Counting," posted a photo to Facebook of themselves kissing and asked other couples to do the same. Some same-sex couples obliged. Guess what happened next?
  5. The duggars are shoving PDA in everyones' faces. But as soon as it becomes out of wedlock, non christian, or literally any other type of people, kissing is immoral and wrong.
  6. This article came up on my FB feed and I thought y'all might want to take a look: http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2013/09/19-k ... t-viewers/
  7. For those of you who don't watch Glee/haven't been watching it lately, here's some quick background info: Kurt and Blaine have a well known reality tv obsession. Blaine also really wants to get married, despite the obvious obstacles of age (they're both around 18-19), distance (one lives in ohio, the other lives in nyc) and the fact that they aren't exactly together right now. For all of the reasons above, this makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time.
  8. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but I sometimes enjoy listening to his podcast and I was very interested to hear him critique the Duggars in the opener to his most recent podcast (Savage Love episode #274 released 1/17/12): I wish he'd go after their homophobic beliefs and strict gender roles - but this kind of publicity can't but help our cause.
