  1. I just can't get enough of this song right now. I've been feeling very... melancholic, I've had suicidal fantasies and self harmed myself after a 10 year break. And this song, it just speaks to me. It makes me have emotions and it makes me feel like I should get away from whatever I've been doing to myself. And I got an image in my head a few hours ago. I debated doing anything about it, but I need this. I need art. I need the therapeutic feel of it, even though it makes me uncomfortable at the same time. Here's my first concept sketch of the piece I will be maki

    Need some help!

So I have this project for Conceptual Development class. One of my themes is sociopolitical, specifically purity/rape culture. Technically it's a "drawing" but it doesn't have to be a literal drawing. It simply needs to convey the formal elements: line, texture, color, etc... My background is going to be a quilt. Now the part I need help with is, beyond the quilt itself, the feminine squares & whatnot... what suggests rape culture? When you think of either if these cultural ideas, what items come to mind that you would or could associate with either one (or both)?

    Drawing/sketching

Disclaimer: I am not skilled (at all), but there is a school of thought that you can teach yourself to sketch reasonably well with a bit of time and effort. A couple of years ago I bought Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, and made my way through most of the exercises. I liked it, although it got a bit too mystical at times (get yourself into a trance, etc.) I did find some good tips and help in there. Recently I just picked up Keys to Drawing by Bert Dodson and though I've just started, I'm liking it better. It's very direct and practical.

    Stuffies!

@laPapessaGiovanna has kindly given permission for me to post her adorable drawing here for people to color. I am quite jealous of her ability. I the bunny. I just want to pick it up and squeeze it.

    Draw *blank* Every Day

So I'm not often one to share my art outside of my tumblr or facebook, but I thought maybe people here might be interested in seeing a few of my artings. Back in July of this year I started an art tag on twitter/tumblr. It was #drawweirdaleveryday. Now that tag has evolved into several tags (though the only currently active one is still #drawweirdaleveryday). Here's a few of my favorites over the past few months. David Bowie My best friend and her cat "Weird Al" Yankovic A comparison between a drawing (of Weird Al) done in early October and one done in late October
  6. On the FJ Colorists Unite blog we have been discussing drawing our own art to color and drawing in general. Tikobaby asked if I had pictures of my other doodles, so I took some today. These are very rough sketches without any finishing or clean up at all. I'm going to make 2 different posts because I have quite a few of them.
  7. I remembered that I do actually have one of my doodles that I digitized after doing the sketch. The sketch: The digital version:

  9. Curious

    Wolf Pup

With some trepidation, I post this little doodle I did. I mostly just (attempt to) draw little cartoony animals and I rarely color them or even get them out of the "rough" stage. I was looking through my drawing journal and came across this little guy that was actually finished. This picture sucks because I had to use my tablet. I'm going to have to give up and charge the batteries for my real camera, I think.
