Hey, hey, hey, Goodbye! - the effort to turn the House
VelociRapture posted a topic in Quiver Full of Politics
This thread is dedicated to resources and links to help the effort to turn the U.S. House of Reps blue! https://swingleft.org/ Swing Left was mentioned previously on here. Enter your zip code to find the nearest swing district to you. You can take a variety of actions like volunteering or donating to the opponent's campaign. Running List of Vulnerable Seats - Bruce Poliquin (ME-02) Daniel Donovan (NY-11) John Faso (NY-19) Claudia Tenney (NY-22) John Katko (NY-24) Leonard Lance (NJ-07) Ryan Costello (PA-06) That's all I have time for now. You can use the map on their website to find more - both parties have vulnerable districts, so some people may want to help out in vulnerable blue districts instead.- 19 replies

Bernie Sanders went on Morning Joe today and the following exchange occurred: Bernie Sander is really pissing me off right now. First of all, why is he trying to speak for Democrats when he's already let us know he doesn't consider himself one (except, of course, when he wants to run as one to get access to Democratic money and donor lists.) And secondly, being pro-choice and pro-gun control is a fundamental part of the party platform. Why the fuck would we want a candidate that doesn't believe women have a right to make their own medical decisions and who doesn't value public safety. If we wanted a candidate like that, we would vote for the Republican candidate. Damn it, this man pisses me off.

I was very torn about who I wanted to win the election for the new chair of the DNC because I really like both Tom Perez and Keith Ellison. I had even joked to a friend the other day that I wish they could both win and run the DNC together. Well the results are in, and I couldn't be happier. Tom Perez won and then he appointed his opponent as his Deputy Chair. http://www.palmerreport.com/politics/tom-perez-wins-dnc-chair-keith-ellison-deputy/1668/ And the new DNC chair and Deputy Chair have a message for Donald Trump: http://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/tom-perez-keith-ellison-donald-trump-going-worst-nightmare/1674/ Way to go Tom. And isn't it amazing (in a completely horrifying way) how Trump manages to make a complete and total ass of himself at all times and on every occasion.

Thanks to the mods for starting this forum! I like politics in small doses, but I also like them contained. I've been thinking for some time we need a thread for political cartooning. I'm not fussy about party - anything that makes a point, I believe it's fair game. I'll start off with this one:

Now, I'm not from the US, but since basically everything the US does affects the rest of the world too, I'm very interested in US politics. And I have to say, I'm also very concerned. Especially with the Republican front-runner candidates who are simply insane. In fact, if I were a US citizen, I'd rather vote for Bernie Sanders than for someone like Trump or Cruz, or one of the other Republican loonies, and I'm definitely not a social democratic or even socialist by far. Since we have some members here who actually work or have worked in politics, or otherwise seem to know a lot about that topic, I'm interested, what do you think will happen? Will Trump really get the Republican nomination? And if yes, does he have any chance to actually win the main election? And if not Trump, who else will be the Republican candidate? And what about the Democrats? Do you think Sanders will win? Or will it be HRC?

The speakers scheduled to appear tonight: Elizabeth Waren Corey Booker Michelle Obama Bernie Sanders I'm excited! Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch tonight's proceedings until tomorrow morning, so if anyone is watching and wants to post some highlights, I would really appreciate it!

Bernie supporters irritating me
ShepherdontheRock posted a blog entry in Musings of the Shepherd on the Rock
Lately, all I'm seeing from my liberal friends is people jumping on the Bernie bandwagon. And apparently he is oh-so-much-better than Hillary because: -Apparently getting corporate funding means you aren't genuine? -Also, people who are planning on voting for Hillary(like me) are just voting for her because she's a woman (can't possibly be her effective policy history) -Apparently Hillary is the exact same as a Republican for policies she used to support but now doesn't (people claiming she's a racist because of this stupid meme about her working for Barry Goldwater in high school) TBH I don't even mind Bernie, I'm just so irritated at people who look at unrealistic policies (many of which are little more than slogans about how bad Wall Street is) and throw bitch fits about the one candidate that has a legitimate shot at a. keeping Republicans out of the White House and b. actually being able to work with a likely Republican-controlled congress. I'm not even that enthusiastic about Hillary, but DAMN. I'm just really irritated that people believe bullshit (a lot of times sexist bullshit) and are so fanatic that they can't possibly see any reason why someone wouldn't think exactly like them.- 16 comments
