Seriously? Who isn't buying this stuff? It's not like we need 30 second spots to remind us, "hey, we need something in the bathroom that we can use to clean ourselves up a bit after we're done in there!" No! It's not like you have to send the kids out into the woods to gather up usable leafage as a suitable replacement! Sure, there's different kinds, some thicker or softer than others, but basically, toilet paper is toilet paper! If it's not made out of sandpaper, it's fine! Just sayin...
This is not really about MRAs, but this seemed like the most appropriate forum. I have been rolling my eyes until they hurt at some obnoxious Be a Macho Man ads. I don't see a lot of TV ads, since I mostly watch TCM and am quick to hit the mute button, and often get up and go do something, when watching other stations and an ad comes on. And yet, these dumb things still managed to get under my skin. Interestingly, when I went looking for a series of Chevy ads that annoy me, I found the long version, which includes all of the short ones, and a few less-obnoxious and more practical moments. It's still pretty stupid, though, and glorifies the image of a Manly Man With a Truck more than actual reasons to own a truck: [bBvideo 560,340:256nwq6j] [/bBvideo] Then there's this idiocy. which I guess the ad creators thought was mocking other macho ads. But I think it ends up sending the message "don't let those other products tell you how to be a man -- only our product can do that!"
