  1. I did a search here on this & didn't find a hit so hopefully it hasn't been covered. I also wasn't exactly sure where to put this, so I picked a generic forum. I stumbled across a good child free page on FB and found an article about a man & women who'd unintentionally made a child together. The woman had made it clear that she wanted an abortion but the fellow talked her out of it saying he'd raise the child. She held him to his word, birthed the child, signed over all her rights, & pays more than her court appointed child support obligation. The fellow is apparently in over his head. He goes to Reddit for advice believing he can beg the court to force her into parenting & gets his crap handed right back to him. I have found many MRA site comments from men stating that women who don't want the babies should just give them over to the father to raise. While there are probably some who could & will step up & do well in the role... there are many who wouldn't. I submit exhibit A, as to why women shouldn't be forced to have children they don't want. Second only to the fact that we aren't mindless brood mares & it's just wrong. https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/5b79z4/nm_i_got_a_girl_pregnant_and_she_wanted_to_get_an/
  2. Not sure whether to post this here or on the misogyny thread but here is a really good article on the New Statesman about the latest awful policy to come out of Westminster where women will now have to prove that one of their kids was the product of sexual assault if they have more than 2 kids and need to claim child tax credit. Never mind the fact that the 2 child maximum will push thousands of already existing children that little bit further into poverty or that people should be allowed to eat regardless of the circumstances of their birth; no the Nasty Party want to punish women for having sex while poor and allow that punishment to spill over onto their kids. Seriously, Fuck This! http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2015/08/tory-rape-exception-tax-credits-worse-you-thought
  3. Portland Oregon parents have apparently given their daughter with a neurodegenerative disorder the option of going to the hospital or heaven should she get sick again. http://www.foxnews.com/health/2015/10/27/oregon-family-lets-dying-5-year-old-daughter-decide-heaven-or-hospital/
  4. OK, when I was a leeeetle bitty kid (shortly after Edison invented moving pictures), Mom and Dad would let us watch Walt Disney stuff, no problems. But good heavens, Amurrica and the whole world are now in great danger of being corrupted by folks supporting the Ebil Hommaseksxual Agenda! https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/are-we-ready-for-a-gay-disney-princess-we-may-be-closer-than-you-think/2016/05/11/69d3302e-12e2-11e6-81b4-581a5c4c42df_story.html I am not sure whether it's important to be all emotional about Bucky and Pronk's subversion of the PROPER state of matrimony, or whether to be slightly relieved that they're not just fornicating all over the place in sinful open cohabitation....
  5. A former Arkansas Pastor has been charged with 70 counts of child porn, though said to be very anti LGTB. http://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2016/may/10/former-arkansas-pastor-faces-70-child-pornography-/?f=news Another pastor is accused of sexual assaulting two teen girls in his congregation. http://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2016/may/12/avoca-pastor-accused-sexually-assaulting-teen-cong/
  6. My son is in first grade, after three girls I realize I only have a few books I think he may like. We have the HP books, some books about dogs....Animal Ark I think, what's popular with the boys? So far he is big on non-fiction early readers about sharks and giant squids and the like. I like to keep a variety of books because you never know what will catch their interest. He is not quite ready for chapter books, but I would like to get familiar with the genre, While we are on this subject, in case people are looking for books for their kids, My nine year old girl recently read and loved The Doll People series by Ann M. Martin (my older girls liked it too) Fairest by Gail Carson Levine- she has several good books Candy Apple series which is meh. Princess Academy- don't remember author She is starting to like the Warrior series by Erin Hunter about cats. * I don't know if I posted this or dreamt it but I have some fuzzy memory of a guy at the bookstore telling me that Babysitter Club books are being made into a graphic novel.

  9. No word yet on whether or not water is still wet, but I can only assume that's the next area of study. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/2 ... 91153.html (Is it necessary to disclaim every time you don't break a link that this is because the siteowners won't care?) I can only hope that in a family with enough kids, the ones that don't fit in will be ignored and overlooked and relatively safe.

    Antitheist kids and respect?

I've said before about my Small Relative. Small is being brought up by her dad. Like me, he's an atheist, but he's along the Dawkins/Hitchens line which I am not. He is a fantastic dad and I am pleased as well that Small is being brought up to have a sensible view of such things. However I have a bit of trouble. Small really respects her dad and she's heard him be pretty scathing about religion. So she's not the most tactful of kids at the best of times and now she's started to be quite antitheist. Her dad has strong views, but about religion, not believers. She can't see the difference. Now she's saying things like "It's really stupid to believe in God" and "Only silly people think that God is actually real". (She is four.) When I told her I used to believe in God too, she was amazed and not very complimentary Her dad is nothing like that, but Small is a child who is, er, free with her opinions I am at a bit of a loss. I respect Small's dad is raising her in his (lack of) beliefs and I don't want to confuse her. But I don't want her randomly wandering around saying stuff like that either. I don't know what to say when she comes out with such things. I've tried "Well, they aren't right about God, but they aren't stupid or silly" but I get back "YES, they are! Because THAT isn't real!" Does anyone have a similar situation or know what's best to say?
  11. I remember reading awhile back that as a result of the Jon and Kate plus 8 show, child labor laws were created in Pennsylvania to protect the amount of hours that children were allowed to be filmed and, in addition, a certain percentage (I think it was 15%) had to be set aside for each child for participating in the television show. I'm not sure that any such laws apply in Arkansas where the majority of 19 Kids and Counting is filmed. Also, even though several of the family members are over the age of 18, I really don't think they see any of the money- the family is paid one salary per episode, and I'm sure Jim Bob controls all of it. I do recall sometimes seeing under the credits "thanks to Josh and Anna Duggar", so I assume they get paid a separate salary, and I've also seen it for Amy Duggar and Mary Duggar, who probably get paid some kind of appearance fee on whatever episode they happen to be on. I also think there was something stated about laws regarding premature babies being filmed- it seemed as if there were many hours of footage of Josie's life in the NICU and it might have been in violation of whatever laws exist for preemies. Can you imagine if the Duggars were ordered to provide a tutor to the kids on filming days? Or if Jim Bob was told that he had to divvy up his salary amongst his 18 kids still at home?

    Not exactly QF

So its worth watching the whole 10 minutes of this clip. This woman has 12 kids by atleast 2 different fathers. The father of the bulk of the kids is locked up, and she is living entirely off the state. This was discussed on a talk radio program here in Atlanta this morning and they said that black women wind up like this while white women get a TLC show... http://www.boortz.com/weblogs/nealz-nuz ... democrats/ She's hardly J'Chelle besides the "children are a gift from god" thrown in the first clip. But she doesnt actually show any interest in taking care of her brood and pawns it off on others. Personally, I find them both disgusting.
  13. I suggest an alphabet theme, since many little Duggars/QFs are likely to produce prolifically. I'll start it off with: A is for Abigail or Andrew B is for Beatrice or Benjamin C is for Catherine or Christopher The goal is to reach 26.
  14. It airs tonight as part of their program on growing up to fast.
  15. Okay not sure if anyone has posted this yet, if so sorry.... This is a clip interviewing some of the Duggar kids and I have never seen such young people with such kool aide colored smiles in my life!!!! Link: http://moms.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2 ... -pregnancy Video at end of the article Thoughts?
  16. I know this might be a redundant question but do think any of the Duggar children would ever join the military? I've been wondering that for a few years now.
  17. Okay, I've been thinking about this for awhile. Networks like doing reality TV shows because: 1. No actors to pay 2. Non-union crew 3. No writers to pay 4. No children that have to have special privileges (like pay or eduction) When they all grow up, the Duggar kids have the power to bring a lawsuit that would permanently cripple #4. The cameras have filmed for all to see how the pressures of keeping up ratings encouraged the parents to pretty much stop homeschooling entirely. So no education. They also haven't been getting the interventions we all suspect several of them need. The kids haven't been paid when everyone knows the draw of the show is the kids not the parents. The Gosslin kids had stress, but at least they get typical educations and a BETTER lifestyle as a result of the show. The Duggar kids it could be argued have had their lifestyle substantially worsened. Think about the younger ones like Jed/Jer or Johanna. They have no earnings, no education, and substantial competitive pressure (got to bring those ratings)! Basically all the same problems of real child actors without the benefit. So I comfort myself with the idea that eventually the Duggar kids will KILL the whole genre that spurned them.
  18. Very interesting. I can imagine the various comments fundies would make about this. http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle ... story.html
