  1. Abigail is taking the WV bar exam in July. She's decided she wants to be a lawyer again to fight for environmental causes. http://www.abigailbenjamin.net/abigailsblog/2016/6/22/have-strength-of-heart I'll believe it when I see it, but if this helps give her a non-batshit-insane goal to work towards, then good for her.
  2. It's been a while since we checked in on Abigail. She says when it comes to religion, she feels like a foster kid. abigails-alcove.blogspot.com/2015/04/my-unexpected-easter-gift.html She also had a fucking Christian seder. I was ready to go off on her in the comment section, only to discover that she disabled comments again. abigails-alcove.blogspot.com/2015/04/welcome-to-holy-thursday.html
  3. ...And she's receiving SCORN again. Anyone want to bet on how long it is before Jesus tells her it's time to close comments again? I'm guessing three days at most. She actually had a pretty thoughtful post about the Pope's comments on being responsible with family planning up, but of course she deleted it after a bunch of commenters came in, stroked her ego, and told her the Pope's words were just taken out of context and really he'd applaud her for getting pregnant again and again knowing each would end in a high risk C-section. Now in her latest post she describes how she was shocked and shaken to her core after meeting a woman who was happy that she'd had her tubes tied after having two children. Her heart was TORN. Meanwhile this poor woman is blissfully ignorant of the emotional trauma she inflicted on St. Abigail the Martyr. What a life... abigails-alcove.blogspot.ca/
  4. I will be the first to say that Abigail is a bucket full of :cray-cray: :wtf: but I find one of her recent posts rather refreshing in light of what other fundies (Lori*Cough*Lori) would have done: Abigail: Look at that! She recognized her daughter as a person, totally independent from her, and she didn't flip the hell out when the little one got creative with the kiddie scissors. Can you imagine how Lori or Generation Starvation mom would have reacted??? abigails-alcove.blogspot.com/2014/11/counting-my-blessings.html The whole post is full of fun memories she made with her kids on Thanksgiving. Abigail may get a lot of things wrong, but I really appreciate that she seems to have a respect for her children as individuals.
  5. Abigail has been warned that her current pregnancy could have problems with the placenta, so she had been on modified bed rest and enduring a lot of other restrictions. She just went to see a high-risk OBGYN, who told her that the placenta was fine, but also that she should get a tubal ligation after her C-section. Abigail explains that this isn't an option because she is Catholic. The doctor says that he is Catholic too, and suggest that she get sterilized without telling anyone. So, how much of this exchange do you think actually happened? abigails-alcove.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-struggle-to-be-both-faithful-and.html
  6. Abigail is such a pro-life martyr guys. Her latest is a whole post about how she's such a martyr for the pro life cause because she's had miscarriages, high risk pregnancies and a kid in the NICU and apparently no one could ever know her struggles! Only prolife know what it's like (because no pro choice person has ever had a difficult pregnancy or sick kid. ANd no pro life type might consider things like genetic counseling or birth control) Also when you're Abby t's soooo hard to be judged! No one gives her enough sympathy about her difficult pregnancy because it's pregnancy number 6. . It's all about feeding the ego. She even opened up her comment section so she could have more ego stroking. abigails-alcove.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-harder-parts-of-being-pro-life.html
  7. I am a long time lurker and only occasional poster, but I just had to talk about this with someone. This blog entry is from a fundie Catholic. She is an online friend of Abigail and they had medically fragile babies around similar times. Here is the entry I want to discuss: aknottedlife.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-story-of-lazarus-for-james-3rd.html The original story is here: learningtobeanewlywed.blogspot.com/2011/03/today-james-is-6-months-old.html So here is my problem with her: What about the medical professionals that worked tirelessly on her baby for 61 minutes??? Why does Bishop Sheen get credit for this baby's recovery? This woman made a (in hind sight) horrible choice to have a home birth 40 minutes away from a decent hospital. Yes, most homebirths are safe, but hers was the poster birth for what could go wrong. She made a bad decision, a horrible thing happened to her baby, medical professionals saved him, and a would be saint gets credit? I am very happy her son is doing well (although he definitely has some residual side effects of anoxia), but give credit where credit is due. Second, WTH is that Lazarus redux about. Bible fan fiction? Sigh. If you keep reading you will see she has squeezed out 2 more kids during the 3 years since her son's birth. She admits she cannot handle NFP, claims not to want anymore kids, but is too pious to resort to condoms. She has 5 kids in 7 years. Her blog is full of woe is me, but most of it is her own doing. :angry-banghead:
  8. Content Warning: Miscarriage, infertility and child death abigails-alcove.blogspot.ca/ Background: she's a Catholic fundie(ish?) blogger. She used to be an evil post-modern feminist who went to law school. She and her husband got married in the Catholic church and then I guess they kind of went off the deep end: no birth control, abortion is murder, I'm-better-than-you-because-I'm-Catholic sort of stuff. Aside from that, she has the biggest persecution complex I've ever seen. She has had some struggles - she lost a baby in a late miscarriage, one of her daughters had some serious complications, she's had something like five C-Sections - but she thinks all this makes her a martyr and specially chosen by God for suffering. I'm telling you, if someone sneezes near this lady she interprets it as spiritual warfare against her. In one of her latest posts, she talks about how jealous she is of her cousin, who recently received a lot of help from family members after the birth of her child. Not to worry, though. Abigail and her husband come to the cheerful conclusion that the reason she has to suffer SO MUCH MORE than other people is because God made her a special snowflake and he loves her MORE than everyone else.
