    Outlander on Starz

Who's watching?? It officially premieres on the 9th, but I know there are sneak previews out there (I'm holding out til Saturday).
  2. OkToBeTakei

    The Life of Pi.

Watching this right now. I saw no topic about it. I loved the book.
  3. Not breaking CNN link http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/12/showbiz/m ... ?hpt=en_c1 JK Rowling is writing a script for Warner Bros. for a film based on FBAWTFT. Exciting definitely, but this: made my knees week. Please, oh please may JK Rowling write a screenplay for Bathilda Bagshot's A History of Magic. Or you know, maybe she could just go ahead and write that book itself.
  4. So we went out tonight and saw this. I loved it. Anyone else seen it? Thoughts? I suppose this could also encompass the book as well... loved that as well.
  5. I went to see this movie today, and I give it a big thumbs-up. Finally a movie where fine actors develop interesting characters! And no one had to blow anything up or take off their clothes. It's funny, interesting, visually stunning and touching. It also reminded me how much I wish I could dress like Indian women do. Everything they wear looks comfortable and have such rich colors. You don't have to be of a "certain age" to enjoy this movie, but if you are (like me), it's very relate-able.

We Need to Talk about Kevin

Anyone else read the book? I thought it was terrifying. Also -- I wonder what J'Chelle would think if she read it. In her shoes, I'd start taking a good long look at my youngest 8 or so...
  7. I bet you have all watched it already, but here's a thread to discuss it. Meanwhile, I iz ded. It looks so great that I am not coherent at the moment.
  8. Hey so I just came back from the theater... it's not too bad! As usual awkward dialogue at times. Other awkward scenes like when all the werewolf meet and talk... really weird transformers like voices. Also I could not think possible to dramatize the birth more than it already is, but yeap they did it! Why did they make her heart stop? I don't remember that? I think also that the imprinting did not seem as creepy as in the book? And older Renesmee is really gorgeous! All in all I'm looking forward to watch part 2, coz when Bella wakes up as a vampire, it's my favorite part of the book, but more than anything I want to watch the Hunger Games.

    Sarah's Key

My husband and I saw Sarah's Key tonight and we both thought it was really good. I'm not a big movie fan, particularly if a movie is based upon a book because the result is usually not nearly as good as the book, but this film honored the book, in my view. Kristin Scott Thomas plays the female lead and Aidan Quinn has a good role, too. If you enjoyed the book, you may enjoy the movie as well. Has anyone else seen it? I know the release has been rather limited as it is an independent film.

    Pride and Prejudice

1995, though I am sure there are some who prefer the 2005, or even earlier versions... Either way, I am so defrauded by Colin Firth in P&P!!
