  1. Ugh Hey Roman, drink a big glass of shut the fuck up already.
  2. The guy who is running against Claire McCaskill shared this special photo on the Facebooks the other day Jesus, what a fornicating douche.
  3. Another sexist pig giving tech a bad name This irritates me. We need women in tech. We don't need douche cannons with insufficient personalities. And a lot of times it's hard enough being an IT contractor with out douche cannons like Gulakov "helping" us along.
  4. Yeah, an Orange Fart Cloud snowflake couldn't stand the idea of seeing strong women on the big screen.
  5. I bumped into this one after following a link in the comments section of the Boyer blog. Racheal (sic) is a SAHD who appears to be friends with a lot of our usual suspects. She's also a Civil War reenactor who wants to let us know that slavery is totally biblical. This isn't just a jaw-droppingly bigoted post, it's also an incredible SODRT fail. She cites a bunch well-debunked Lost Cause talking points to argue that slaveholders were actually really good people who taught their slaves to read and gave them all sorts of nice things (apparently "that's why we have slave spirituals," as if black folks couldn't come up with their own musical traditions). She cites the Reconstruction policy of "40 acres and a mule," which Southern whites fought tooth and nail, as if it were something Antebellum slaveowners were doing all the time just to be nice. And she posts a picture of a man whose back is covered in scars from brutal whippings and asks us, in all earnestness, "what did this man do that warranted that?" In a later post she complains that she can't bring up these totally legit points without people picking on her for being a Christian. (Yeah, that's why they disagree...) Of course I shouldn't be surprised by stuff like this. They keep it a little more hush than the misogyny, but their leaders are people who idolize out-and-out white supremacists like R. L Dabney and R.J. Rushdoony. This whole movement is the perfect embodiment of "I'm not racist but.." "I'm not racist but those people are going to outbreed us." "I'm not racist but I don't want my kids exposed to the crowd at our local public school, you know what I mean." "I'm not racist, Planned Parenthood are the real racists!" "I'm not racist, I'm just honoring my southern heritage!" Here's an IFB church in Texas that at least admits what's on their minds (this one is really... something else, holy shit): https://www.applebybaptistchurch.com/articles.html I'm not sure where I'm going with all these damned links except to say that I'm tired of this thing where we tiptoe around ever calling anyone a racist even when presented with overwhelming evidence. I know that not every single conservative Christian is boiling with personal hatred towards people of other races. Obviously. But they ought to mind the company they keep, because this whole movement is absolutely soaked in old-time racism. I wouldn't want to associate myself with institutions or thinkers who come with that kind of unacknowledged baggage, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, in case anyone's reading this and thinking "well, can you really prove that this is going on?" Yes. We have the receipts. See above, and I'm sure the rest of you can link me to more. Oh, and if you need a palate cleanser, this speech by the mayor of New Orleans is a wonderful example of how we can grapple with our nation's difficult history with grace and moral fortitude. You won't regret reading it.
  6. The post that prompted the share is the third one on the page, but they all have a solid place here. I found the "Bad Advisor" on Tumblr & they now have a site of their own. Basically it's all real questions pulled from Dear Abby & such answered in a fabulously sarcastic way. They give the questioner exactly what they wanted & a little of what they didn't want. https://theestablishment.co/bad-advice-on-ogling-young-women-and-thwarting-abortions-aa0acdee0eaa
  7. Not sure whether to post this here or on the misogyny thread but here is a really good article on the New Statesman about the latest awful policy to come out of Westminster where women will now have to prove that one of their kids was the product of sexual assault if they have more than 2 kids and need to claim child tax credit. Never mind the fact that the 2 child maximum will push thousands of already existing children that little bit further into poverty or that people should be allowed to eat regardless of the circumstances of their birth; no the Nasty Party want to punish women for having sex while poor and allow that punishment to spill over onto their kids. Seriously, Fuck This! http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2015/08/tory-rape-exception-tax-credits-worse-you-thought

The Daily Fail is at it again!

The charming folks at the Daily Mail have been paying attention to the things that are going on in UK politics. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/03/28/british-daily-mail-slammed-for-sexist-legs-it-headline-on-brexit-eve.html I suppose I shouldn't expect anything else from these guys now but come on!
  9. Jameis Winston (NFL qb) tells classroom of elementary girls that they should be silent, polite and gentle. The boys should be loud and strong and can do anything they put their minds to. He tries to back away later but it's pretty weak. http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/23/sport/jameis-winston-elementary-school-speech/index.html
  10. Some good news out of Hawaii; nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/hawaii-republican-leader-rep-beth-fukumoto-officially-resigns-gop-n737341
  11. Another asshole Republican from Oklahoma living down to the party's reputation rawstory.com/2017/03/watch-oklahoma-state-rep-says-rape-and-incest-are-the-will-of-god-in-abortion-bill-hearing/#.WNMse1MLFcs.twitter
  12. Another Republican says what they're thinking https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/02/14/oklahoma-bill-would-require-father-of-fetus-to-approve-abortion Hey, Humphrey, fuck you! What's next you piece of shit? Women having to get permission to leave the house? To drive?
  13. Today is the International Women's Day. Looking for an image to go with my well wishes to all of us on my status I found this image. It states that the rising of women is the raising of us all. Lately I have often heard of how feminism is wrong because it privileges women. When I hear this I wonder how is it possible that people don't understand that granting women's rights is beneficial to the entire society. For example to deny women their right to choose on reproductive issues, defund public programs specifically created to help them with these issues and promote abstinence only sex ed have immediate consequences on single women and long term consequences on the society as a whole. How is it possible that some people just don't understand it? I also have often heard that, in comparison with the horrid life conditions of so many women around the World (FGM, child marriage, trafficking just to name a few), Western World women's concerns about casual sexism, paid maternity leave and the like are just ridiculous and they should stop whining. What do you think about this? Is there room to fight against both? Is sexism still a concern? Is it still a widely spread, hurtful and deeply ingrained habit?
  14. Some good news out of Nebraska today kcrg.com/content/news/Nebraska-lawmaker-quits-after-unsavory-Womens-March-tweet-411756165.html Dear Fornicate Stick Kintner. Door. Ass. Avoid it impacting on the way out.
  15. Ugh. buzzfeed.com/tylerkingkade/georgia-bill-would-stop-colleges-from-carrying-out-rape-inve And this idiot is all excited about Donald J. Putinfluffer and how said Putinfluffer is going to destroy Title IX. I'd call him a fucking pig but that would be insulting to pigs.
  16. It's been almost twenty years but I'm glad I don't work there now. thesmokinggun.com/documents/revolting/vile-walmart-squirter-arrested-839205
  17. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that this guy voted for the Orange Toxic Megacolon thesmokinggun.com/buster/buttocks/old-guy-in-mooning-bust-628439
  18. I just saw this on FB and my jaw dropped. SERIOUSLY?!
  19. Just read a long article on HuffPo Highline ("Stories that stay with you"): My Journey to the Center of the Alt-right by Luke O'Brien http://highline.huffingtonpost.com/articles/en/alt-right/ FJ explained to me the terms alt-right edge lord, cucking, 4chan, so thanks for that background. This article goes deeply into white identity politics and lays out how how Trump is enabling and promoting, white identity politics. As noted above, this is a long article and scary as crap. Luke O'Brien visited many leaders of the alt-right and has obviously done his research on the movement. He's a smart guy who writes well. Take your time to read the whole thing. Here are a few paragraphs from throughout the article to whet your appetite. I learned two new-to-me words in this article: sigil: an inscribed or painted symbol considered to have magical power bricolage: (in art or literature) construction or creation from a diverse range of available things.
  20. On the Facebooks today. Of course the girls get punished! Let's not have informative sex ed so the male & female students know the importance of self control & healthy bodily function. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/10/04/boy-has-impure-thoughts-blames-cheerleaders-skirts-school-punishes-cheerleaders/?utm_source=ET&utm_medium=ETFB&utm_campaign=portal&utm_content=inf_10_60_2&tse_id=INF_00b51190917011e6b6db4d0235f40af5

    Reverse misogyny

https://m.facebook.com/MANWHOHASITALL/ This Facebook page is hysterical! The posts are funny but it's the comments that really make it work.
  22. Life is increasingly making no sense. How is it possible to molest a baby, on film, no less, and get no jail time? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/true-crime/wp/2016/09/19/teen-pleads-guilty-to-sexual-abuse-of-a-1-year-old-girl-then-a-judge-gives-him-no-prison-time/ It seems like the perpetrator was manipulated into the act by older adults online, but even so, he should have realized that what he was doing was wrong.
  23. This seems pretty interesting to me, and relevant to what we discuss here. Like the author, it bothers me to see young women distancing themselves from feminism, so I hope this does help to shine light on abusive, misogynist practices that are happening right now. http://nytlive.nytimes.com/womenintheworld/2016/04/19/novelist-creates-a-dystopian-world-for-girls-inspired-by-homegrown-fundamentalism/
