I am pretty sure they were on the agenda at Big Sandy, but alas, that one is already down. The Fab David Waller will be there as well. No surprise that two Kellys on two opposite ends of the state have different opinions about the now passed Tennessee ammendement1 which effectively ended the right to medical privacy under the TN constitution (but did not change anything under the U.S. Constitution). The showers look like they were nicer than the wedding... Some of the FL hostesses are wearing pants/shorts! I like the cake tied with a red bow. Kelly also said they are home in Florida now. -

Since it looks like Gil and Kelly will have 3 of their children married in short order. I'm thinking their next big money making seminar, speech circuit product may be titled: " Helping Our Sheltered Godly Children Find True love AND A Perfectly Christian Spouse". New blog w/ lots of pictures. So sad what happened. At least they are trying to help. Things like this is why the Bates have 2 married kids, 1 engaged, and 1 courting. They are allowed to travel without the entire clan and interact with people. I'm talking to YOU, Steve Maxwell!!! You would never let Joe, John and Jesse make such a trip.

I noticed that Kelly Bates has described the relationship between her 18 year old daugher Alyssa, and 23 year old John Webster, the son of a Congressman who is a Bates family friend, as "Special Friends." Kelly explicitedly denied that Alyssa and John are courting, but she did say that they are spending time together to get to know each other and develop a friendship. I am unfamiliar with the term "special friends" and wondered how this differs from "courting." I was wondering if anyone can clarify this situation for me. Thank you. To clarify briefly, what I specifically wanted to know is about the term "special friends" versus the term "courting?" Thank you.

In her latest post she says I’ve heard others say that a mother has the most difficult and most important job in the world… I’m not so sure! I know I wouldn’t be able to trade places with my husband in fulfilling his role as Dad! Decisions are hard for me; pressure is hard for me to cope with; bills are a nightmare… I’m just not cut out to carry the load that he does so well! I’m so grateful and so blessed to be by his side and to watch the example he sets for his children! This kills me why can't she figure it out? She's a grown woman with a ton of kids. Will Zack take her in and the young kids if Gil was to die tomorrow? -
Following the Bates's blog, Kelly's older brother seems to have died recently, but thankfully (as far as they're concerned) accepted Christ as his saviour shortly before. She clearly loved him a lot, so I'm really sorry for her, but somewhat disturbed at all the commenters who are "thrilled" he came to Christ before what sounds like a long, drawn-out death.

Perhaps I am reading too much into this post, but considering our discussion about Erin, the topic of the article is interesting. On the surface, the sentiment is lovely. God loves you and made you the way you are. However, I always grow suspicious when fundies talk about contentment. Sometimes the word contentment is code for, accept your lot in life, don't try for better and hide your real feelings under a mask of sweet, pretend joy. The Bates' children can't help but notice that Erin is the star of the family I wonder if there is any jealousy or resentment. Or perhaps the post has nothing to do with Erin and some of the older kids would like to go to college or see the world. I imagine that they must notice that the Duggars have a higher income and can afford nice items. It would be reasonable to question why god allow such a disparity of income between two, similar families. It is also interesting that she puts in the example, ' a different family size." Perhaps one of her children has been questioning the fact that their mother endangers her life through her endless pregnancies. What do you all think?

I've heard a lot of jokes about what must be happening to Michelle's body, or Kelly Bates's body, after having that many kids. But admittedly, now I'm really curious. What does happen to a woman after so many successive pregnancies?
