  1. When will they ever stop? One of the victims was a SIX year old! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/2 ... 93375.html (Link not broken as it's a news site.)
  2. This probably is only mildly humorous, if that, but I just thought of a 15-second funny bit. Fred Phelps, his daughter Cindy Lou Phelps Who (or whatever her name is), and the bunch of them go to London to protest at the Olympics. Deciding to capitalize on the popularity of the USA men's swim team star, they make new signs that read GOD HATES PHELPS On the sidewalk, they look at each other's signs, get an "uh-oh" look, and lightning bolts zap 'em! What think ye all? Shall I keep my day job?

    Fred Phelps ....ugh

He is coming to our City Council meeting at 8am on Monday... because our city is adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the protected classes in city's human relations code. He sent some sort of statement about being straight or die. Sooner or later someone is going to shoot him.

  5. got to love him outwit the haters. http://cjonline.com/news/2012-05-12/you ... er-protest The way Patty Akrouche tells the story, her Mother’s Day gift arrived a day early Saturday when her young son mounted a quiet counter-protest to the pickets of the Westboro Baptist Church. Nine-year-old Josef Miles and his mother were walking around the Washburn University campus Saturday, which was Graduation Day on campus. As they returned to the area where they had parked their car, they couldn’t help but notice the WBC protesters picketing in an area where they had an audience. After reading WBC signs proclaiming God’s hatred for homosexuals and other assorted groups, Josef asked Akrouche if he could create his own sign proclaiming his different view of God’s outlook. His sign, written in pencil on a small sketchpad, read simply, “God Hates No One.†“He’s growing up to be a fine young man,†his mother said in recalling the story. “I got my Mother’s Day gift
  6. I posted a few weeks ago that WBC was going to be at CMU speaking to a class. Today was the day. Michigan Live posted some quotes from the debate. Here is one goody response to a student who said that her chruch teaches God loves everyone and the WBC doesn't follow the bible. "Scratch off the paint on your church and it'll say 'whore house.'
  7. If you watched "America's Most Hated Family", Jael Phelps ranted how she had no interest in marriage and felt like she had more important things to do than fornicate blah blah blah. I happen to stumble on Lauren Drain's fan page (the girl who was kicked out of the church a few years back) and someone posted about Jael getting married. Looks like it's true. fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/s720x720/548823_312771558788098_100001657703402_770616_2069117187_n.jpg Jael's cousin posted the following with the picture: Looks like hate can find love?

  9. They are also going to be protesting at Michigan State University and I guess will be speaking to a class at Central Michigan University about their 1st amendement case. They are protesting the high school because they supposely got an email about how it is promoting the homesexual lifestyle. They say they are protesting MSU because "Universities are the places where the anti-Bible, pro-gay marriage is being mentioned and cultivated," according to Fred Phelps Jr. http://www.americanindependent.com/2153 ... r-michigan
  10. I am going to just post the link as there are a bunch of videos and such. it is an interesting look at them though. http://www.ramblingbeachcat.com/2011/11 ... ch-so.html
  11. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/westbor ... on-belief/ We already told you about Reason Rally, the upcoming event that atheists are heralding as a “Woodstock for non-belief.†The daylong celebration, which is promising to be the world’s largest gathering of atheists and secularists, is scheduled for March 24 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. While The Blaze has divulged the fact that evangelical groups plan to attend, it seems there’s another group — the Westboro Baptist Church — that is reportedly going to picket the massive conference praising “reason.†Westboro has become infamous for its picketing at military and celebrity funerals and for its bizarre slogans (they recently released a parody video about Whitney Houston entitled, “God Will Always Hate You†and alleged that the singer is burning in hell). In what appeared to be an effort to incite Westboro’s rage, Jim Klawon, Deputy Vice President of Administration of the National Atheist Party — the political party of non-belief — sent a letter poking at the radical “church†members and inciting them to attend Reason Rally. In a note addressed to Westboro’s founding member, 82-year-old Fred Phelps, Klawon urged the cult’s members (mostly individuals who are a part of Phelps’ family) to “come out and join the fun.†Here’s a screen shot of the letter: It wasn’t long before the atheists received a response from Megan Phelps-Roper, Fred’s granddaughter. Via Twitter, she accepted the invitation and pledged to picket at the “parade of fools.†Additionally, Phelps-Roper quoted Isaiah 1:18-20 in response to the Reason Rally, posting an image of the verse on her Twitter account: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.†Justin Vacula, a writer for the Scranton Atheism Examiner, spoke with the young woman about the group’s plans to picket: Atheists, Megan Phelps-Roper explains, deny God and should read Romans 1:22-29 which talks of atheists who have professed themselves to be wise and became fools and are filled with unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness and maliciousness. She also quoted Psalm 14:1 which says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no god…†Some atheists, Megan Phelps-Roper notes, when thinking of the Bible and the Westboro Baptist Church who will be attending the Reason Rally, might “act like it’s a big joke,†but they should see this as a “very serious matter.†“There is a god, there will be a day of judgment, and there is nothing unreasonable about worshiping your creator,†Megan Phelps-Roper says. Megan Phelps-Roper has a special message for Richard Dawkins. She explains,“He is a blasphemer of huge proportions. He promotes rebellion against God using the platform God gave him and will have a hot spot in Hell.†With the inclusion of Westboro, it looks like Reason Rally will be that much more interesting
  12. Reno – There are not many companies, as of late, willing to advertise on Rush Limbaugh’s syndicated radio show. Limbaugh’s controversial comments on Sandra Fluke’s personal life and testimony have cost him over 140 sponsors and forced Premiere Radio Networks to suspend national ads for at least two weeks. However, it is not all doom and gloom for Limbaugh’s show. Rumors persist inside Clear Channel, which owns Premiere Networks, that indicate the company is considering an offer of sponsorship from Westboro Baptist Church. The church made headlines locally in Reno for threatening to picket Brianna Denison’s funeral. What kind of advertisements Westboro Baptist Church is offering for broadcast is unclear. If the offer is accepted it would put LifeLock and Lear Financial, the only major businesses to stand with Rush Limbaugh, in strange company. LifeLock provides identity security services, while Lear Financial is known for encouraging people to invest in gold, silver, and platinum. Messages left with Westboro Baptist have not yet been returned.
  13. He is one of Fred Phelp's sons. According to Wiki, he has been estranged from his family and the WBC since he was 18. He's now 53. Randy Roberts Potts is also going to be on. He's the gay grandson of Oral Roberts. Rosie O'Donnel's show airs at 7pm on OWN for those who didn't know. There is a repeat at 2am.
  14. My town--Harrisburg, Illinois--was hit by a tornado early yesterday morning, and 6 people were killed. WBC is planning on being here to protest the funerals, mainly on Saturday morning. This has angered a lot of people here, and I for sure plan on being there to block their signs or whatever I can do to protect these families. Most of the victims were older people who lived in a brand new apartment complex, with the exception of one young woman who had just become a nurse. If anyone else is interested in joining me, PM me. These people are beyond disgusting.
  15. I was just wondering if there was anywhere I could watch this documentary in full online for free? Is it too good to be true?
  16. It can't be cheap to transport all the people and their signs. Gas, food and lodging are expensive. They do not look like affluent people. How do they pay for these trips to 'protest'?
  17. I have seen the two documentaries with Louis Theroux about the Westboro Baptist church and was wondering if you know of any others?
  18. this is just too funny when you have to fake your own protest you are on the decline http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/19/w ... w+Story%29 The Westboro Baptist Church did not picket singer Whitney Houston’s funeral on Saturday, but they did upload a fake photo to Twitter in hopes of convincing others that they did. The Westboro Baptist Church believes that God is punishing the United States because of America’s acceptance of homosexuality and has gained infamy for picketing the funerals of public figures and military members. The church announced last week that it would picket Houston’s funeral in Newark on Saturday. “Time for Westboro picket of Whitney Houston funeral. So many piling up to blather about her today. Not ONE of them warned her of hell,†Margie J. Phelps, daughter of the church’s pastor, tweeted on Saturday. Phelps later tweeted an image of what she purported to be Westboro Baptist Church members protesting outside Houston’s funeral. But the New Jersey Star-Ledger confirmed that no protesters had access to the area depicted in the image, which was apparently photoshopped. Recently, the church has failed to show up to funeral services numerous times after announcing they planned to do so. The Westboro Baptist Church, which only has a few dozen members, is typically drowned out by counter protesters. Despite the Westboro Baptists failing to show up for their protest, three “Occupy Newark†counter-protesters showed up with a sign that read, “Occupy prays for another soul our community could not save.â€
  19. How should the religious communities of Topeka, Kansas, respond to Westboro Baptist Church? For newbies, WBC is the all-law, NO-gospel organization that has gained publicity for itself protesting at the funerals of people tragically killed in the line of military duty, car accidents and now, murder-suicides (the Josh Powell travesty). A basic Bing search for "Topeka churches comment on Westboro" turned up nothing, so I searched for unitarian universalist topeka and found that their local UU church has a creative response to WBC as part of its social justice efforts: http://millionfagmarch.com/ As I get time I'm going to keep researching this, would love if others did the same. Here's a question, for the religious and secular among us: What responsibility has a religious or secular society for commenting on WBC or organizations like it? If they should comment / condemn, what form should those comments / condemnations take? I'm srsly curious about what people think, and about how organizations have responded and are responding.
  20. I actually don't even have words to describe how infuriated I am to read this. The lost of lives was tragic enough, but for Westboro to show up and protest gay marriage in Washington state at the funeral of two boys murdered by their own father, I just can't fathom. http://www.katu.com/news/local/Anti-gay-church-to-protest-Powell-boys-memorial-service-139022314.html
  21. I wish I were closer to Clayton, Mo., a tony suburb of Saint Louis that is also the seat of the county government. WBC will be picketing an outlying high school over some neglect or transgression this morning, and then will move on to Clayton H.S. I can't help heh-heh'ing like I haven't heh-heh'ed in ages: The school district of Clayton is probably the best in the state of Missouri; its residents actually look forward to sending their children to public school in at least as heavy a percentage as they do, private schools -- and Clayton residents are among the most able to afford tuition on top of property taxes that I couldn't afford. So what? Well, call this racist if you wanna, I'll stand by what I'm about to say - there's a high percentage of Jewish kids in Clayton schools. And it's been my experience lo these many years that Jewish folks have a creative talent for satire, comedy and vitzing that is legendary. I would seriously pay money to be able to witness what the CHS kids come up with in their counter-protests, I would I would!
  22. So these have been all over FB and thought we could have some fun here. The link to make the signs is here: http://says-it.com/wbc/
