    Idaho Murders

Has anyone been following this one? The four college students that were killed in Idaho.
  2. One of the most chilling murders, basically assassination. Baby daddy, Matthew Guerra, was involved in selling vapes with THC, so illegal but not hard drugs. To my mind, this is absolutely a cartel/drug gang hit. Reports say both were killed by a single shot to the back of the head. Savanah was in the front passenger seat, holding a baby seat, Matthew Guerra was in the back seat. Unborn, full-term baby was declared dead at the scene. All the details here, or just google "Savanah Soto murder": What we know about the case of Savanah Soto, the missing pregnant woman found dead in car with boyfriend Tragically, "Soto’s younger brother, Ethan, was killed in a shooting on May 16, 2022...Victor Nathaneal Rivas, now 19 years old, was charged with murder in the case. An arrest warrant affidavit stated the shooting happened over what appeared to be an act of revenge for a drug robbery." Ethan was 15.
  3. Note: there is a lot of confusion among various news outlets reporting this. The Guardian reports that it happened along a dirt road, but the photo they include with a burned out truck is obviously on a paved road, so I don't know if that is a stock photo or a photo of the actual vehicle involved. This is simply horrifying news. Members of the LeBarón family, mostly women and children including infants, were massacred on a dirt road or highway in northern Mexico yesterday as they were going to another community to go shopping. I don't have a sense of exactly where this occurred; news reports just note that it was near the US-Mexico border along the Chihuahua - Sonora border, This appeared to be a cartel hit, with some speculation that it was mistaken identity. However, this happened as two instances along the same road; the vehicles were about 8 miles apart. CNN quotes Alex LeBarón Geography: Head to googlemaps.com Enter Douglas, AZ. Agua Prieta is on the Mexican side. The border between Sonora and Chihuahua roughly corresponds to the Arizona - New Mexico border. On the Mexican side, Highway 14 takes off to the southeast from Agua Prieta. Bavispe is 150 miles southeast on Mexico Highway 14. As the crow flies, Bavispe and Janos are not too far apart. The Guradian reports that the massacre happened on a dirt road in two separate spots; if so, it's likely a backroad that connected these two towns. From the New York Times: At Least 9 Members of Mormon Family in Mexico Are Killed in Ambush Six children were among the victims in a massacre attributed to organized crime, family members said. Other children were rescued, some of whom hid along a roadside. <snip> More detailed reporting from The Guardian, which includes a photo of one of the burned out trucks, but as noted above, I don't know if this is a stock photo or an actual photo of the truck. Mexico: up to nine members of US Mormon family killed in ambush LeBaron family relatives say nine victims, mainly children, dead in attack on dirt road between Chihuahua and Sonora states
  4. A woman who wrote a children's book about grief allegedly poisoned her husband. Kouri Richins, 33, is the author of Are You With Me?, a book about loss and grief for kids. She allegedly poisoned him with fentanyl. Link to article. Her husband Eric was 40 years old.
  5. A Colorado dentist has been arrested for killing his wife in "complex and calculated murder" (link). According to reddit's ex-Mormon file and some Mormons on Twitter, he was an LDS "Elder's Quorum President" (link).
  6. 2 Idaho children went missing weeks before their stepfather's former wife was found dead I had to read this article several times before I sorted out who was dead, who was missing and how they were related. Chad Daybell married Lori Vallow a few weeks after the death of his first wife, Tammy Daybell, so that's a little odd. Lori Vallow's children (an adopted special-needs boy age 7 and a teenaged girl) have not been seen or heard from since September and have now been reported missing. When police went to Chad and Lori's home for a welfare check on the 7-year-old boy on Nov. 26, the couple claimed he was in Arizona "with a family friend," which was not true. The police later returned to Chad and Lori's home, but discovered that Chad and Lori had decamped and are on the run. Tammy Daybell was originally thought to have died of natural causes, but has now been exhumed for further testing because it doesn't get much hinkier than this.
  7. Content warning–baby was also killed. https://abc30.com/merced-county-family-kidnapped-found-dead-taken-from-business-vern-warnke-confirms/12298756/ https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/sikh-family-kidnapped-killed-california-immigrated-india-looking-safet-rcna51468 This story happened in my local area just last week and it has stayed with me. I didn't see anything on here about it so I hope it's OK that I'm sharing. It was a major local news story and it has bothered me more than I can explain. California's Central Valley has a large population of Sikhs, many of them farmers and business owners. Every single one of them that I have ever dealt with is a hardworking and kind person. I honestly can't figure out why this family was targeted by this former employee (and it turns out that his brother was involved as well). I especially don't understand why the baby had to die. I think the fact that he literally LEFT her out in an orchard to die of exposure is a special kind of cruelty that I guess I hope I can never understand. Also this coward tried to kill himself the day after the kidnapping, and I am thankful that he wasn't successful. He also had prior convictions and was released from prison in 2015. https://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/crime/article266915741.html
  8. Former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated.
  9. A man has been arrested over the 1988 murder of Scott Johnson. Johnson was one of a a series of young gay men who fell to their deaths over cliffs around Sydney near gay beats. Initially his death was ruled a suicide, but after pressure from his family (especially his brother Steve Johnson) that was overturned and it was ruled a probable homicide. NSW police reopened inquiries into 88 deaths occurring between 1976 and 2000 to see if they were likely to have been hate killings. What shocked me so much the first time I heard about these deaths, particularly the 1987-90 murders, was that the alleged perpetrators were so young - not that much different in age to me in fact. I hope there is a trial, that it gives the family and society some justice - and that it cracks the lid on more prosecutions.
  10. I just finished reading the book "if You Tell", by Gregg Olsen about Michelle "Shelly" Knotek and her husband David's abuse of their three daughters and murders of three people, one being her nephew from the late 80's through 2003 when they were arrested. The book is amazing and so detailed, but as a huge true crime fan I was surprised I had never heard of this family before. Thought I would start a thread for anyone who would like to talk about this case.
  11. In my city of Austin, TX, Heidi Broussard and her two-week-old infant vanished from their apartment a few weeks ago. She had dropped her elementary-school aged son off at school early in the morning; her fiance came home at 2:30 that afternoon to find them gone, which seemed very odd; when the school called to report that she had not picked up her son from school that afternoon, he reported them missing. A week or so later, her body was found in the trunk of a car of a Houston, TX suburb, about 130 miles away. It turns out that a "close friend" was pretending to be pregnant, had listed her due date in social media as the same date that Heidi Broussard gave birth, and apparently strangled Heidi and stole baby Margo, who was found in good health. Missing Austin Mom Found Dead Was Strangled, Baby Is Safe, 1 Arrested <snip>
  12. This makes me fucking sick Of course the kid had done nothing to provoke Adams. I'm to the fucking point where I've rethought my stance on the death penalty when it comes to racists like this. These racists need to be fried in goddamn electric chairs until they fucking glow in the dark. I don't care how much hate mail I get for that stance either.
