Why Jill First?

Forgive me if this answer is buried in one of the courting threads. The way TLC has shown it, Jessa and Ben started courting first, but Jill who started after them is already engaged. It just seems off to me given how much they emphasize courting, and taking time. That Jill would get married first when she started courting second.
2. At about 4:35, Jimmy Fallon pokes fun at Ben asking Jessa to court. Looking at the scene again, I'm convinced this courtship was not staged, in my personal opinion. After Ben asks Jessa, she freezes, as if she's thinking of what the "right" thing to do. She's probably trying to think about what she read in the prince charming book. She stares at Michelle for a second, before she awkwardly decides to hug her, then JB says that she can hug Ben for 30 seconds. They weren't even comfortable enough with each other to give a side hug; she had to get permission first. http://y
3. This showed up on the front page of yahoos site. I read it and wanted to throw up and my eyes rolled out of my head. Not breaking because its Yahoo ( seriously, how did this get front page on their site?) http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/jessa- ... 00802.html According to the author, being under a headship ( whether you like it or not), not being able to pursue higher education, not being allowed to LEAVE THE HOUSE ALONE at age 20 is more in line with feminism than a pop star choosing to wear little clothing and to have sexually themed performances.
4. The big news broke somewhere in here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19243 Please try to limit this thread to discussion of Jessa's courtship and related matters. Season 7 of 19 Kids and Counting is discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19302 And everything else about the Duggars is discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19312

Duggar Photo Op

Just ran across this on the UofA's freethinker's group Facebook. (Mama Carmen's is a coffee shop.):
7. Not even exaggerating. Also Jessa and Jinger. (Jill isn't going anywhere, since she's the Sarah Maxwell of the Duggar family). I just want the girls to get out of that house so bad.
8. Ok so I was going to give myself a weirdo disclaimer for doing this but ya know what, un huh. I am a PS junkie AND I have no shame for this kind of thing, give me hell. I always thought even though they have the obvious difference of 'race', that Jessa looks kind of like Rev Run's daughter Angela (here she is w/o makeup: http://www.stylebistro.com/lookbook/Ang ... 7RaL_/Hair) And then got to thinking [ this is where the disclaimer would go]...I was really curious what Jessa-blessa would look like in Angela's clothes...

Jana & Jessa

I was just thinking about the fact that many of the Duggars, especially Jana and Jessa (and even Anna sometimes) are nice-looking. If the picture below isn't airbrushed, I would even call Jana beautiful. She has great skin, a nice smile, and pretty hazel eyes. It seems like such a waste, though. Some of these people could work as models. Maybe that's why Jana hasn't found a husband yet...Jim Bob knows she's very attractive and doesn't think any potential suitors deserve her.
10. Did anyone post this link? This is just beyond words... duggarsblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/video-highlights-from-chick-fil.html The one positive I saw? Jessa playing a guitar. Everything else is just so absurd. edited to fix the link for ladypuglover

Jessa = Jana 2.0?

There is some speculation on TWOP and DWOP that Jessa has been banished, a la Jana, from being too visible on the show. Just last season she and Jinger were giggling in TH's about Josh's weight gain and about milking the cow on the trip to Europe. Now Jinger is smiling blandly and parroting whatever new TH partner Jill is saying, and Jessa is relegated to background shots. Some posters on the other boards are wondering if she will be sent off to re-conditioning camp soon. Notice Jana is now back on the show, keeping sweet and even accompanying JB and OfJB on a campaign trip to Michigan. Intere
12. Just wow on this whole post http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/michel ... 00102.html
13. They look so much younger here! Are they not wearing makeup? Is it because they arent really smiling? LOOK at them all pale and young looking... they look like they did round about when they were about twelve or thirteen.

https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid= ... 048&v=info Funny facebook group - did an FJer start it? Though I have to question 10 loads of laundry a day: I don't know any adult who daily produces half a load of washing, let alone a small child!

Fundie Snobs?

Do you think there is snobbery going on in casa la Duggar? Maybe Jessa or some of the others are perfectly happy being fundies becasue they feel that it makes them more superior to some? Which of the kids strikes you as the most Smuggar (besides the original smuggar)?
16. Is anyone else disturbed that the younger kids have to say "yes maam" to their older siblings? Thats just really squicking me out. I understand a big sister telling a child to take a nap, but a response like that just seems inappropriate given the sibling relationship.
17. I just watched last week's episode. It made me really sad (and surprised) to hear Jessa talk so roughly to Jordyn, and Jordyn's sad little response. Jessa, half-angrily, taking Jordyn's face in her hand: Say "No, thank you!" Jordyn: (softly and sadly) No, thank you. I don't think Jessa is much of a "mother." Neither was I, at 18, so I can't blame her, but I do feel bad that Jordyn doesn't have anyone nurturing around her. Plus, she's two--how many two-year olds remember to say "thank you"? And why was Jordyn even attending Jessa's "class" anyway, she's
18. During the last few new episodes has anyone else noticed how tan they are, particularly for episodes that were filmed a few months ago? Jessa and Jinger look especially tan. I just thought it was a little weird but still in sync with the changes in the appearance of the Duggar women during the last few years.
