    The McKims

As I've been reading about ATI and IBLP, I've come across a family called the McKims, Kenneth and Julie McKim, who have 13 children and used to be the poster family for IBLP before the duggars. After 1992 they dropped off the radar and were no longer held up as such, apparently quite a few of their children ran away. Does anybody know anything about this family?
  4. Thanks to @EyesOpen for recommending @tialevingswriter on Instagram. Here's the text from her post today. I'm certain no one has mentioned a resurgence of a "back to the land" movement among the IBLP remnants, apparently its a very concerning thing. Tia narrowly escaped this fate and discusses the difficulties of her life then. She mentions that RC Jr. romancing "back to the land" during his Highland "ministries" time: Tia discusses that this RV/back to the land movement may be happening again: "I tremble when I hear families make the RV switch, and it’s resurgent. They liquidate their real estate investment, sell their belongings, make big donations to their IBLP congregation and headquarters (which is allegedly hemorrhaging money), and live off rural, barely-gridded land. It would be novel if it wasn’t so frequent. It would be quaint and idealistic if it wasn’t so centered on the organization. Whatever the parents’ motive, the kids land in insecurity, overcrowded quarters, and all the neglect I talk about in my “skipped” video series. The “adventures” look like labor and the “simple” life is break-you hard. Want to know more about what it’s really like in Christian Fundamentalism? 5. I have been listening to the "Last Pod on the Left" for awhile. The three hosts cover topics such as the occult, supernatural events, serial killers, and more. The ones I've listened to most are about cults and religious movements. They do good research, plus two of them are comedians, so they riff on their topics in an informative and hilarious way. I've listened to their series on the history of Mormonism twice now. Anyway, in March their Last Pod Network introduced a new podcast; their trailer states, "Welcome to Some Place Under Neith, a new true-crime podcast focusing on Missing Persons cases, hosted by Natalie Jean (Stunt Woman, Producer) & Amber Nelson (The Brighter Side)." Their angle is societal forces that can lead to women losing rights and going missing, such as controlling and patriarchal religion. They are wrapping up a multi-series run on the origins of the IBPL and the Josh Duggar scandal, and it's fascinating. It's so crazy how this group advocated things like grooming women, gaslighting them about abuse, not teaching them about their own bodies and sexuality, scaring them about the outside world, and avoiding "ebil gubmint" involvement to the point of not always getting birth certificates or SS cards for kids even. I've read (mostly lurked) FJ for years now, and thought I knew a ton about the IFB and IBLP, yet I still learned tons of new facts about the organization, its founder Bill Gothard, and the Duggar scandal timeline. I searched FJ and didn't see it mentioned yet, so I figured I'd share it as a resource. I think other FJs will be intrigued by this series.
  6. Does anyone know much about Allie Beth Stuckey's husband? I found this link and wondered if it profiles her husband's family; if so seems like her husband is probably the youngest child in the photograph:
  7. Big sandy starts tomorrow! Fj faves lead the way with sessions such as David Waller's "who are you?" and Gil and Kelly bates' "beware of pitching your tent towards sodom". Interesting to see that the duggars are excluded from the schedule entirely but the bates are presenting multiple sessions each day. (And I wonder - are the bates on the schedule that much bc they are popular or bc ati is scraping the bottom of the barrel for speakers?) http://familyconferences.org/events/family-conference/big-sandy-2016/

    My Fundie Youtube Channel

Hey all! I've been working hard on making Youtube videos lately. I talk about different subjects and people that relate to fundamentalism while doing my makeup (GRWM = Get ready with me). Like the Pearls, Bill Gothard, the Duggars, etc. My goal is to be educational plus funny. I inject a lot of memes and jokes in the videos and I like to manipulate clips I find of my subjects online. I am shooting all of these on my iphone and I'm learning to use the editing software, so sometimes the videos can be rough at times. I wanted to share my videos with FJ because this was the forum that really got me invested in fundies. I also feel like this community might get some of the more obscure references to different people in the videos. This has become a labor of love for me. I am going to link to my 3 best videos (in my opinion, at least.) Feel free to check them out and let me know what you think. Vision Forum The Pearls The Duggars Part 1
  9. So after ten years, I finally gathered the courage to make a video about my experiences in a Fundamental Baptist Church (which closely followed Bill Gothard's principles). If you have any questions feel free to ask, I'm just trying to get my story out there. After ten years I finally feel like I can talk about this. It's harder than I thought it would be... but worth it.
  10. I grew up in IT. All of it. A lot of it. I’m almost 35. And I am finding FJ healing as I work through a lot of crap. Here to share. I do have to be careful....

    The IBLP Lawsuit

If you have spent any time on Free Jinger, you will likely recognize the acronyms ATI and IBLP. This is the fundamentalist ministry created by Bill Gothard, an unmarried man who believes such things as: There has long been talk about both Bill Gothard and his brother committing acts of sexual misconduct with female employees and interns. As long ago as 1980, Gothard admitted to "moral failures" with some of the staff. We at FJ have long awaited some kind of action to be taken against this unmarried man who had unlimited access to vulnerable women who are taught from birth that if a man "stumbles" it is the woman's fault. On around October 21, 2015, we became aware that a civil lawsuit had finally been filed against IBLP and all the members of the Board. Bill Gothard is no longer part of the organization, having been forced to resign after another round of accusations in 2014. The board members named in the lawsuit are: John Stancil, Anthony Burrus, Gil Bates, Timothy Levendusky, Charles Stephen Paine, Jr., and David York. From Recovering Grace: The Complain in it's entirety can be found at the Chicago Tribune Each of the 5 Plaintiffs are asking for $50,000. Once a leader in the homeschooling movement, Gothard's ministry has managed to largely fly under the radar of the general public, despite having some rather high profile adherents. Recently, Rep. Daniel Webster (R -FL) was considering a run for Speaker of the House, following John Boehner's resignation. Arguably the most famous followers are The Duggar family of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting, which was cancelled after several scandals related to the oldest Duggar child, Josh. In May, 2015, In Touch magazine dropped the bombshell that when Josh Duggar was a teenager he sexually abused at least 5 girls, including several of his siblings. In August, it was revealed that Josh had not one, but two accounts at Ashley Madison, a website which has the tagline "Life is short. Have an affair." For some 10 seasons, the Duggars have been promoted by TLC as a (very) large, happy Christian family. They have shown the Duggars on the campaign trail for politicians such a Mike Huckabee and RIck Santorum. While claiming to be a shiny, happy Christian family, the Duggars have spoken out against the gay community and abortion. Josh was hired by the Family Research Council and moved to Washington, DC, which was also documented on 19 Kids and Counting. Recently, Gothard and his ministry have gotten more mainstream attention thanks to Josh Duggars misconduct and hypocrisy coming to light. While the Duggar family show, 19 Kids and Counting was cancelled by TLC, they have recently announced that they plan to do several "special episodes" of a show starring the newly married Duggar children, Jill Dillard and Jessa Sewald. What some people may not know is that another high profile Gothard adherent also has a TV show. Gil Bates and his family have a show titled Bringing Up Bates on the UP network. The Bateses are often seen as a less strict, more fun version of the Duggars. They also have 19 kids and in the last several years have married off 4 children, some of which were shown on either 19 Kids and Counting or Bringing up Bates. In fact, one of the Bates children married the son of Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL) You might recognize the name Gil Bates from earlier in this post. That's right, he is a member of the Board of IBLP and was named in the lawsuit. The general public may have the Duggar's number thanks to Josh, but there is still a high profile IBLP member that has a platform to show off these dangerous beliefs on TV and he seems to be slipping under the radar, just like the Duggars did for many years.
