  1. As far as I know she's not actually courting anyone. Please correct me if I'm wrong. The discussion at the end of Part 1 is about age differences in relationships. Part 1: http://www.freejinger.org/topic/24254-jinger-and-lawson-courting/?page=1
  2. I'm doing some online work while half-paying attention to tonight's 20/20 episode with Barbara Walters interviewing Mary Kay Letourneau. All of a sudden I jerk my head up to look at the screen because it sounded exactly like Michelle Duggar's baby voice... but nope, apparently Mary Kay just has a similar voice/speech pattern. I'm sure Michelle would be horrified to know of the comparison between her speech and Mary Kay's, but it made me ponder a little more about their similarities... both seem completely incapable of understanding how the "outside world" reasonably criticizes their life choices, both lack self-awareness, and both seem to be fighting to maintain an aura of a wonderful happy life when clearly their lives are miserable and the people around them are miserable too.
  3. I guess Cancel is in FB jail. They haven't posted in two weeks.
  4. I don't get the mentality of some Duggar fans. I read posts where fans have sent the DUggars a gifts or asks a personal favor. One mentioned sending Spurge a crochet blanket and she was delighted to see them use it,.When Josie was born, a fan was irate because they turned down her gift. I saw a request a couple of days ago asking the Duggars for used wedding decorations. I saw a request asking the DUggar o meet their sick child and I have seen requests for them to help solve a problem. They act like the Duggars are friends or counselors. Well they aren't, And why the heck would you want to send them or any public figure anything?

    Duggars Vs. Bates

People love to speculate about a competition between the Duggars and the Bateses. I tend not to believe that they actually feel like they're in a competition with each other, but it got me thinking: what if it actually were a competition? Who would be winning? And then I made a spreadsheet. Because I'm home sick and I'm insane. This is how I calculate it: -Lose one point for each child 18+ who is single. -Lose 5 points for each child 25+ who is single. -Lose 15 points for each child 30+ who is single. -Lose 50 points if any immediate family member has a scandal (immediate family = the parents and children, grandchildren and sons/daughters-in-law and scandal = anything majorlike adultery, divorce, leaving fundamentalism completely and obviously, that would be a scandal to fundies not necessarily to us, and that isn't criminal - wearing pants or kissing before marriage doesn't cut it). -Lose 100 points if any immediate family member does something criminal (and gets caught, obviously). -Gain one point for each child. -Gain 5 points for each set of twins. -If Michelle or Kelly ever manage to produce #20 that's an automatic 100 points. -Gain 1 point for each child courting. -Gain 5 points for each child engaged. -Gain 10 points for each married daughter. -Gain 15 points for each married son (because they carry on the name). -Gain 1 point for each maternal grandchild (i.e. the child of a daughter) -Gain 2 points for each paternal grandchild (i.e. the child of a son, because they bear the family name) -Gain 5 points for each set of grandtwins. The results so far: the Duggars are winning by a small margin. The Duggars and the Bateses each have three single children over 18 (but under 25). The Duggars have 2 single children 25+. Each family has 19 kids apiece, but the Duggars have two sets of twins whereas the Bateses have none. The Duggars and the Bateses each have one married son and two married daughters, however the Bateses also have one daughter courting. The Bateses have one grandchild (paternal) to the Duggars' 3 (also paternal). Total points for the Duggars: 57 Total points for the Bateses: 54 Jill and Alyssa's upcoming babies won't make a difference because they will both be maternal grandchildren, thus taking each family to 58 points and 55 points respectively. It's Anna's baby that will make a difference, pushing the Duggars a little further ahead. But if Michael gets married this year and no other Duggar does, the Bateses will probably take the lead. It's based almost purely on childbirth and marriage, because those are the main things they're evaluated on by themselves and others. I decided not to give points for pregnancy because it's too iffy and the added points for children who have been born, or the lack of points for fewer children make up for it. This actually took me only a few minutes to put together and is going to consume very little time to keep updated, so I plan to continue the game indefinitely.
  6. I found this on Spotify, and it's amazing. Enjoy! https://www.thefump.com/fump.php?id=1946#
  7. Shocking, I know, but John Latour, a Fayetteville politician with connections to the Duggar's got himself into some hot water over the weekend. http://m.arktimes.com/ArkansasBlog/archives/2016/03/21/resignation-urged-over-fayettville-alderman-john-la-tours-gender-challenge Apparently, he deleted his angry post on his Facebook page. If only someone had taken a screenshot. Oh wait! I did.

    Who is Krista?

Hello guys! I'm officially "new" here although I've read the forums for some time. I have a question I am hoping you guys can help me with. This is the only forum I can post in, so if this belongs somewhere else, please forgive me and point me in the right direction. I follow this girl on instagram named Krista G. (kristaann_vt) who is a friend of the Duggars. I've always been interested in the "duggar friends," because I feel who your friends are says more about you than just about anything else. Until Krista, I see that they were only friends with fundies. I remember in earlier episodes (or maybe an interview?) where the Duggar parents said they are really selective about who can hang around with their kids (in one episode it said the only babysitter they could have was Grandma, because she supports their rules). Anyway, this Krista girl is just different than any of the other friends I've seen them be around. From what I gather, she goes to a real college (not a IBLP sanctioned thing), wears pants, has a nose ring and is a pretty average American college student, who just so happened to meet the Duggars at their crazy home church (why she was there I have no idea, or how she got there!) So this just kind of baffled me, and I couldn't find any other info about her online. So, does anyone know why the Duggar kids are allowed to hang out with her? Or why she would choose to hang out with them? Are they trying to convert her? Does anyone else know if they've ever had "friends" that they were just trying to pull into their cult? Krista still hung out with them several times after the sex scandals broke, so I'm just trying to figure out if maybe she knows stuff about them and they are keeping her close to keep her mouth shut? I'm currently working on my master's degree in psychology, and hope to eventually become a profiler. So, when I see people that I just can't fit into a box (like this Krista/Duggar situation), it fascinates/frustrates me, and I try to figure it out. Thanks in advance for the help!
  9. Next week, Ben Seewald is going to show the world his rapping abilities (or lack thereof). The girls try to contact Jill. More courtship teasing that says a whole lot of nothing. So much drama! How will it be contained?

Jill and Jessa Counting On - Part 4

Recap from Part 3: Jana and Jinger are supposedly breaking jender roles by doing house repairs and selling cars. Jinger's role in flipping the car is questionable. Ben is snarky about the word babysitting when it applies to parenting his kid (gee, wonder why?) Joy's "episode" is coming up on April 5. The Duggars are as awkward as ever. Take it away, y'all!

  12. So apparently the second show was more boring than the first, as evidenced by talk of whether the girls can use certain feminine products....take it away guys!
  13. Starting with the assumption that people on this board are critical of the Duggars and would like them to fade into infinity... I was just wondering what kind of justifications people come up with for hate-watching, snark watching, whatever is the preferred term. In my opinion, it generates income for the Duggars the same way leghumpers do by drooling over Jim Bob's mane or Michelle's 'superior' parenting skills. But perhaps there are ways to watch a channel without becoming a statistic in the ratings, which I am unaware of. I live in the UK and do not even have a TV - I do not watch Duggars on YouTube etc as well, but I am aware of what kind of train wreck they are. Reading some news headlines about them every now and then seems more than enough. So... genuinely interested in the answers. Are guilty pleasures more important than the fact that these people are awful examples for the society?
  14. First episode At Home and Away 9:00 PM tonight 64 minutes Jessa and Ben navigate life as a family of three with new baby, Spurgeon. Jill and Derick settle into their home in Central America as Israel starts to hit new milestones. Later, Jessa enlists her sisters to help prepare a fall feast for the whole family.
  15. Did any one see the DUggars promoting "Learn Our History" DVDs by Huckabee on FB?. Of course it's full of revisionist history. One of the DVDs is "Christmas in America" telling about a town protesting to take down the Nativity scene. This older article explains. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-rodda/history-according-to-mike_b_4525541.html

    Counting On Season One

    Beware the ides of March.
  17. Just got a copy of 20Kids for fifty cents at a library sale. OK, I can dig that until the big townhouse got built, the DuggarMob didn't have a lot of soil for gardening. Do they even have a garden now, with easy-to-grow stuff like lettuces, green beans, zucchini, carrots? (Just think: family togetherness, healthy exercise, saving money, eating healthily, AND some basic science stuff.) What is WITH all those canned goods in the recipes? (Grew up in the US Midwest in the 60s and 70s, so casseroles--even with canned soup bases--don't typically scare me too much.) But with that big a crew to feed, shouldn't they be buying 50-lb. sacks of potatoes and onions, big bags (like restaurant size) of fresh carrots, and salad greens by the case? Not to mention Sam's Club sized sacks of rice, pasta, beans, industrial (#10) cans of tomatoes and pasta sauce and canned fruit, instead of 1-lb. household goods? Especially if they've got an industrial-type kitchen (complete with high-speed dishwasher), plus a pretty "show" kitchen? I winced when reading the section about how the younger kids help with meals: you know, the assembly line where one kid wipes the can tops, another wields the opener, an older kid pulls off the sharp lid, a young kid drains the contents, etc. Inquiring minds like mine want to know....
  18. Has anyone seen this anti-Duggar blog? The recap is hilarious. https://defamingduggars.wordpress.com/
  19. I hope Im not duplicating anything, I did have a little look and couldn't see a similar post unless it's hidden in one of the megathreads. I've been pondering for days now, what on earth is going to happen to the Duggars? Before the first scandal, they seemed to be moving into a new season of life (courtships/marriages/babies) but since 'Si and Marjorie was called off, as far as we know, the lives of the older Duggarlings seem to have stalled. I don't know if it was just me but it seemed like one by one the older children were beginning to change their lives (I know they're all still entrenched in the cult but they definitely seemed to be allowed to grow up finally). In the last year, absolutely nothing. Are all of the children still at home destined to stay there forever like the Arndt family? I just can't see Boob and Mullet allowing any sorts of freedom now and do any of the other fundie families want to be associated with a family that's had so much shame brought on them?
