    The Duggars seem desperate...

I was thinking today. Jim Bob is marrying off the kids quickly it seems now. Is he worried about TLC money not coming in? Surly he must know the families time in the spotlight might not be forever. I mean they seem desperate just with getting a Facebook account and such. Just a thought...

    The other children

Everyone has been talking about Jessa and Jill lately, and I wonder how the other children feel about it. Jana is the oldest daughter and she still hasn't been in a courtship. Joy-less Anna and Jinger are probably super happy because they know that in a year or two they will be just like Jill and Jessa. What I'm worried about is the howlers and the lost girls. Jill will be all that jim bob and Michelle talk about. In their eyes Jill is the fundie daughter that they dreamed of. Married and Pregnant in a month. If they younger kids weren't cared about before they most definitely aren't now. Plus, their sister moms are slowly leaving. They have to marry Jana off someday, and Jinger and Joy won't be far behind. The older boys will be gone too. Jeremiah and Jedidiah seem like good brothers but they sure as hell won't cook or clean. So who is going to do all of the work? Not Michelle, not Jim, not the boys, it will be left to the lost girls to do it. If we expect 1-2 marraiges a year they will be around ten when they are left to do the work. They will be so neglected, because jim and Michelle are going to try to keep up with their 101 grandkids.
  3. Watching the show last night I was really shocked to see them using pre-packaged salad when making lunch for the Mother's Day meal. It's not like it's hard to wash and tear lettuce! Using pre-packaged stuff like that would be very expensive for so many people and frankly, it's just lazy. I mean, if they were as frugal as they like to claim they are, they should not only be making more stuff from scrach (like salad at the very least), but have a kitchen garden where they can grow their own veggies. It's not like they have tons of stuff to do. I'm shocked that they do stuff like using paper plates and utensils ...is it that hard to load a dishwasher?

    Duggars and Teaching

In all of the (many) debunkings of the SOTDRT and other "homeschooling" Duggar-related stuff, I was just watching the episode where Michelle and Jill teach Joy to drive and thinking it was really sweet. Sure, they don't do a great job teaching her to parallel park, but it was nice to see Michelle actually engaged with one of the older girls.
  6. I think we should keep track of all the businesses willing to pony up to be included in the Duggar Saga. Tonight we had: the jewelry store, the donut shop and the race cars.
  7. There is just so much going on between the lines here. Especially watch Joy's face after Jana says "she's kind..." Would love to hear y'all's analysis. It's so blatant that I'm kind of inclined to think that TLC is turning on them a little, showing a bit more than the Duggars want them to. http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/vid ... y-25206512

    Jennifer Hartono?

I saw Jennifer just graduated from college with a B.S. in Education. Will she become the Duggar's full time homechool teacher? I'm sure it would make it look good for the show, nice recent college grad, loves the Duggars and will teach them at home and on the road? I know her parents are both heavily into promoting Gothard(like the Duggars of Asia) and she and her brother originally stayed with the doctor that told Michelle birth control was evil. then they started staying with the Duggars over the doctor. Now it seems like they have been living with Josh and Anna on and off(Does Anna spend anytime alone with her kids?, it seems like they always have guests). I curious to see now that she is done with school if she returns home to teach or help with the ministry, or live with Michelle and Jim Bob or Josh and Anna. It surprises me how the Hartono are into a lot of mainstream movies/tv/music but still are so welcome in the Duggars home. Do they all have J names? Jennifer and Jonathan have a brother Jason who is also in America and at the Duggars. The mom is also a J, Josie. Instagram accounts Jennifer jennisharon Josie the Hartono mom josieddy Jason jaso_hartono
  9. Wohoo The DUggar kids can visit 75 pre-approved websites once big sis Jana types in the passcode. I know this has been discussed here somewhat. I think it is an attempt to make them look more 'liberal''. This is 75 sites out of the whole dang internet. I know i visit way more doing research for articles.
  10. I can't remember if I actually asked this question or if I just thought I asked this question. So please forgive me if this has been asked. Am I crazy for thinking there was a time when the Duggars were against coffee because it was a drug? Am I making this up in my head? Confusing them with Mormons? I could've sworn in the early days coffee was a no-no.
  11. Okay I know this is silly of me, but for a year or so I have been trying not to be like the Duggars (I was once a huge fan) I recently watched the 16 Children and Moving in special and the voice over said, " If they don't get this house done they may soon be homeless." Oh come on! They had the house almost built. It had a roof and sides. May be not a lot of walls, but they were FAR from homeless. Has anyone ever heard the Duggars say something and then you just felt they were lying through their teeth to get sympathy.

    The Duggar brand

There are so many instances, lately, of where the Duggars seem to be compromising on what they used to forbid. Moving Benny onto the property is but one example of relaxing their stern, legalistic views, I believe. So, my question is.... Do you think the Duggars have softened their religious convictions based on A) sincere changes in thinking (likely due to being exposed to views and experiences, other than their isolated own) what is best for the brand, moving forward (meaning, JB knows that the show won't go on forever, so he's positioning the brand for continued fan interest and interaction in the future) C) some other reason D) I don't believe they've softened their convictions at ALL, not even deceptively so (see "B") Feel free to share examples that back up your choice. Personally, I'm thinking it's a combination of A and B.
  13. Forgive me if this is old news... http://www.people.com/article/ben-seewa ... fd8e5c0cf7 The Duggars have a new addition to their family home in Tontitown, Arkansas – and he's somebody you know: Ben Seewald, Jessa Duggar's new fiancé! So, how does that work? "He moved up here a few weeks ago," Jim Bob, 49, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "It has been really good. He has been able to spend a lot more time with Jessa and our family. We have a guesthouse in front of our house, with a shower and everything, separate from the main house." Side hugs have given way to hand-holding now that Jessa, 21, has accepted Seewald's marriage proposal and the two are now planning their wedding. But, as seen in this exclusive clip from the season premiere of TLC's hit reality show 19 Kids and Counting, things could get interesting now that Seewald, 19, is at the Duggar home. "I'm very excited that Ben is moving in today," Jessa says in the clip. "I think it will be awesome to get to spend more time with Ben and see him on a daily basis instead of once or twice a month." Jim Bob says he hired Seewald to do work for him while he continues his college courses online. "Ben was living four hours away in Hot Springs with his parents," Jim Bob says. "After Michelle and I were talking about it, we have so many projects to do that we need help for – everything from construction projects to keeping the grass mowed to putting roof on a building, paperwork and things like that – and we asked him if he would be interested in moving up here so that Jessa and his relationship could be really accelerated. He was all for it and his parents were happy about it." Still, does it make all the chaperones jobs a little bit harder? "They always have a chaperone," Jim Bob explains. "It has just worked out great. It is a little more labor intensive for Dad – we did set a curfew. By midnight, every night, we need to make sure everybody is back in their place. Jessa and Ben have set up their own courtship standards. They did not hold hands until they got engaged. After they got engaged, they started holding hands. Just like Jill and Derick, they will be saving their first kiss for their wedding day. 'You Want to Show Love and Affection' Jill and Derick Dillard, who recently spoke to PEOPLE exclusively about their pregnancy news, also weigh in on Seewald's new digs. "You're human, and the physical side is there for a reason," Derick says in the clip. "Naturally, it is going to be difficult if you try to refrain that." Jessa's mom, Michelle, 47, agrees. "Any time you are in love and are together, you realize you want to show your love and affection," she says in the clip. "But when you have purposed to keep those protections in your life, you have to remember and have that accountability." 19 Kids and Counting returns Sept. 2 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC.
  14. I was watching "Designing Duggars" (the first episode that shows the Reith family) and noticed that their music has been overdubbed (I was watching on Netflix). I wonder if the Reith family didn't want their music played on the show or if there was some kind of copyright issue or something!

    If you had to guess...

If you had to guess, other than Jessa, who is courting next? I've been reading through a lot of the posts and I've been trying to figure out who makes the most sense in terms of the show, since I fully believe they are holding back Jessa's engagement announcement for the show. Any thoughts?
  17. The Duggars are speaking at a booster banquet for a university in my hometown. It's a Baptist University and I know the honor code prohibits cohabitation, drinking alcohol, sex before marriage, homosexuality, and dancing. One of my friends even got fined for dancing on campus and another student was expelled for being gay. http://www.hlg.edu/newsinfo/news-story.php?id=1361 Here's the link incase anyone lives close enough and wants to see what the hell they'll be talking about. I'll be home from college but I won't be spending $50+ to get a ticket.
  18. Has this been discussed yet? She sums it up VERY well. http://www.patheos.com/blogs/lovejoyfem ... nders.html
  19. I was just wondering what family moved to be closer to the Duggars. I read about it somewhere and for the life of me I can't remember the name of the family. So why did they really move? is it a rumor they moved to be closer to the Duggars?
  20. Tlc is doing how well do you know the Duggars quiz for their fans. Most of us fjers would pass with flying colors. I know too much about the Duggars. The questions should ask what cult are they associated with. Or how much does Michelle and Jim Bob really know about their child. http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/19-kids-and ... s&Counting
  21. There is a video on the TLC facebook page that asks the Duggars (and others) to do the ice bucket challenge for ALS. What are the chances they will do it and donate money? Will Josh fly to Arkansas to help out? I have so many questions and thoughts on this lol

    The Duggars and money

I've been wondering about these things for quite a while. Maybe someone here has some answers or estimates. 1. how much do the Duggars get from TLC? 2. how much do they make from other stuff like books or speaking engagements? 3. do the adult children get their own share of TLC/books/etc money or goes it all to Boob? 4. especially interesting: what happens with the money that the four oldest girls make with their own book? 5. if an adult Duggar kid would decide to flee the compound could they force Boob to pay them their share of the TLC or books money? I think this topic about Duggars and money is very interesting since money always means power. And if the adult Duggar girls would have some dough in their own bank account, it would give them a lot of independence and would make leaving for them a lot easier if they decide to one day.
  23. One thing I noticed watching Erin Bates wedding was this whole thing about how romantic the courtship and engagement was, and then how much like a fairytale the wedding was, and with the whole not-kissing until they are married it all plays into this sort of fairytale story of waiting for The One. But it made me wonder if the sheltering and protecting (from the real world and dating) of these girls doesn't make it more of a shock when reality hits later after the wedding. They talk about how their courtship allows them to become best friends and really get to know each other, but I don't think they really do. They are so on their best behaviour, so to speak, and always chaperoned and being careful not to touch. I think the guys get swept up into all the attention and fairytale aspect of the whole experience as much as the girls, but then what happens after the novelty wears off, or a few babies come along and money is tight and they are so young and stunted emotionally and with regards to life in general. Even Michelle admitted to losing it when the kids were young. But I think there will be even more pressure to be blissful mothers who have it all *joyfully* under control due to the Duggars expectations and the show's image. Just trying to imagine the pressure they would feel to be the perfect wife and mother (and the perfect father, husband and provider for a quickly growing family). I think of Ben and Jessa and they are so young and seem so unrealistic and unprepared in so many ways. Sure they love the fairytale they are featured players in right now, but what will happen later? Who do you think will crack? Anna? Jessa? How many kids in?
  24. Obviously Smugs is, but who else will. I could see JD wanting to name one of his sons a junior. He'd also be likely to want to name a son after his father. So he may end up continuing with the J'names. Jana, I don't think would. I think if she ever marries, she'll want to give her kids a little more individuality. Jill I can totally see doing it. Not sure what letter she'd pick, though, but I could see her going with J or D names (or both, one for each gender or every other kid). Jessa and Jinger, I can't see doing it. I get the feeling they hate the J'names. Joseph, maybe, but it's hard to say. Josiah, no. He'd also want his kids to have a little more individuality. Joy, no, not after have a name so similar to two of her siblings. Jed and Jer, no, for the same reasons as Joy. Not sure about the rest, though.
  25. Who's the most neglected Duggar kid? think most of us agree that Jordyn is the most neglected Duggar kid. While Jennifer held the same spot, Jordyn lost a lot of bonding time with her parents during the Josie ordeal. She was only 6 months when Michell got pregnant with Josie. JOhanna seems to have fund her place among the howlers. It's not that any of them get that much attention from Boob and Jchelle, but each kid mean less and less time.
