  1. Anybody else think that the Bates women have picked better husbands than the duggar women?

    Dugger prayer

God sitting in his favorite chair hears the prayer phone ringing with a very familiar ring. Oh god not the Duggers again he picks it up and hears the usual begging for another baby, jesus he thinks let's try it again he whispers use a condom. Things that pop into my head when I can't sleep.
  3. But I bet they wish they did!! http://www.people.com/article/mom-daugh ... l-hospital
  4. These are dark times we are in, folks. I got a sponsored ad on my facebook feed today from "The Duggar Family Official" fb page offering "free Bible videos for kids from the makers of Veggietales." Only $1 for shipping and handling! (and, by the way, I don't actually follow any of the Duggar pages on fb - but I guess facebook being able to mind-read my search history was enough...) ...except, oh yeah, the small print, where it tells you that the Duggars aren't actually encouraging you to get FREE Bible stories, but ONE free Bible story video and then a monthly automatic debit of $20. So basically it's a pro-activ style subscription scheme, except under the guise of "spreading the good word." Jesus would be so proud!
  5. Is it just me or was Homer Simpson filling in for JB on the police ride along with JD? The way he was eating chips and donuts, mmmmm donuts..... And is it just me or did JD seem disgusted with JB in general...like he tolerates his dad because well he is his dad...
  6. I'm new to FJ, but I have been lurking for about a month. I hope there is not another topic that is already like this. Anyway, I was wondering who you all think will be the next Duggar(s) to start courting and why? I personally think that Jana and John David will start courting in 2015. The only real reason I think this is because they're the oldest two not married, and I think their parents will basically make them find someone.
  7. Has anyone ever thought about or attempted to do something to actually help the Duggar children, more specifically Jana or Jinger, to contact them in secret and help them get out if they wish? My heart breaks for Jana who looks like she's on the brink of a breakdown and I just want to help her escape.

  9. In Jill's wedding episode, JB commented that in 15-20 years he may be giving away "Little Baby Josie" at her wedding. I know she's the miracle pre-mee and the youngest, but isn't she almost 5 years old now? Plus they still use her as a prop in their anti-abortion campaigns. Of all the Duggar kids, I'll bet she may be the one that is the most resentful when she grows up. She already is a spitfire that seems to get away with murder. We did see J-Chelle training her by saying, "The world doesn't revolve around you, Josie", in her baby voice. Maybe they never blanket trained her because she was so frail?
  10. So I was reading about the Roloff family from 'Little People, Big World' yesterday to find out what the kids are up to these days etc (I used to really love that show). I found out that the youngest boy Jacob has had quite a lot of struggles... He was expelled from school and caught up in drugs, etc. Anyway, I was reading that TLC have to provide a separate contract for each child over the age of 18. Apparently when Jacob turned 18 he refused to sign TLC contract, and would only sign a waiver that basically meant that they don't have to blur out his face when he ends up in the background of footage... but he would not be actively filmed, or speak on camera etc. Jacob has openly said he found the show fake, and hated being on camera growing up. The rest of the family has refused to comment on Jacobs distain for the filming. It made me think that perhaps a couple of the Duggar kids (e.g., Josiah) have also quietly refused sign these same contracts?
  11. Since the Bateses were introduced everyone has been rooting for a Duggar Bates marriage. The chances are now nil for the older kids since the older ones from both sides got married. There's only Jana, John David, and Jinger left for the 20ish Duggars. All the older Bateses are married/courting if I am correct. The greatest chance would be the younger Duggars and Bates long after the show. But then I wouldnt count on it.
  12. We've snarked on the Duggars for the names they gave their kids - dumb spellings and similar names. So if you could rename them to make them more individual, what would you choose? Either new J names or something else. So my picks: Josh stays the same John David drops the hyphen Jana stays the same Jill stays the same Jessa is now Jessica Jinger is something pretty - Julia called Julie Joseph stays the same Josiah is now Jude, which I think would fit his personality, being vaguely hipsterish Joy Anna drops the hyphen and becomes Joy Elizabeth, which I think sounds better Jedediah becomes Jeffrey Jeremiah becomes Jeremy Jason stays the same James stays the same Justin becomes Joel (Justin is too similar to Jason) Jackson becomes Jacob because the already have a -son in the family Johannah becomes Jasmine Jennifer stays the same Jordyn becomes Jordan because that y is dumb Josie becomes Jocelyn

    Duggar Dream

So last night I dreamt that I was a Duggar (not 100% sure if I was one of the girls or an aunt/cousin; my name doesn't start w/a J, & I had my r/l name). I was in a parking lot with Jinger, & she was stressing out because of a driving test. JB was walking around towards a light pole for some reason. I said to Jinger, "Do you trust me?" She said yes, & I told her that she'd do just fine & not to worry. The last part (that I can remember) was the Duggars releasing balloons in front of someone's house w/the Stelzl family. Not sure for the reason, but I remember thinking how wasteful that was (to have all of the inevitable balloon debris to be laying around). I need more sleep (not necessarily for a Duggar dream, mind you).

    Being one of 19

What if some of the kids hate having a large family? I wonder if they can express this or talked about it before. My father came from a large family and hated it. There wasn't enough time for everything. He couldn't get the things he asked for and often was looked over. So I wonder how the Duggar kids feel that they have 18 other siblings. They can't ask for something like an ice cream cone or soda when they go out. They can't often do certain things because their family is too big. Going out to eat is a hassle, vacation, etc. We all know they don't get attention from their parents. So I wonder if some kids are upset that they're one of nineteen. JimChelle brags about it but some kids might be upset about it.
  15. Although the Duggars are criticised in the media, they seem to be so good at deflating and deflecting and ignoring criticism. This has meant that the truth about the Duggars being Gothardites etc, has never really hit mainstream media and then exploded into a 'Jon+Kate plus 8' sized scandal. I put this down to their political background. They just answer challenging questions in all the same ways, which is a skill I am sure they learnt from working in politics.
  16. I apologize if this has been posted before but it was too good not to share: http://tlsleaze.tumblr.com/page/2
  17. Question for fundie followers - yes, the Duggar family campaigns for conservative candidates, but are fundie women who are ATI/Gothard/formerly VF followers allowed to vote? I'm sure they must discuss their votes with their husbands, fathers, whatever.. but ultimately, are they allowed to enter the voting booth and cast ballots alone, or must they bring a headship or male relative with them into the booth for guidance and oversight? Just wanted to know and can't find anything on the 'net about this. I hope they are allowed to vote alone!
  18. Just in case people do not venture out of this sub forum there is a discussion thread for the new season located in quiver full of snark. Please keep discussions about the current season in there. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=25044&p=876349#p876347 Happy snarking!
  19. Does anyone else have this 2 hour special on their PVR on Tuesday ? Apparently its a recap of the wedding and the new season so it won't be Jill's wedding and it has behind the scenes stuff
  20. Since they announced that Joseph will go to college, which was a complete surprise for a lot of people, I came to think that maybe some other family members have some surprises and unexpected decisions up their sleeves, as well. My guess: Josh will end up getting a law degree and be sucessful in politics. DC has tought him the real life! Jill realizes after having baby 1 that because she raised her siblings and now one of her own, that she done with it and stops. One of the siblings will come out as gay; JB und Michelle accept it and will not shun them. What do you think?
  21. The Duggars claim they got the personal convictions of modest dress and no birth control by reading the Bible.I think they confuse the two. When you make personal preferences or conviction it isnt necessarily Biblical based on you interpretations and you dont sin when you break them. For eg "Wear modest apparel" can be interpreted many different ways. To most people it would mean to dress in a respectful way, not wear skirts only.If you want to do that fine, but dont use ti as a measuring stick for another person's righteousness. This is what causes legalism.
  22. It seems in every article about courtship/purity/modesty only Duggar daughter views are given. I know the males would likely say the same thing, but we still never hear what they want in a wife/partner or just general thoughts on purity/modesty from male prospectives -except Josh.
  23. With all the controversy about the measles outbreak in California, I wondered what the Duggars views are regarding vaccination. Does anyone know what Gothard preaches about vaccines and medicine in general?
  24. I am assuming if there was any other really big announcement coming (like a courtship) it would have been hinted here, so my expectations are now at an all-time low that it's going to be as miserable and predictable as we all feared... From the Duggar Family Blog: "Last season, Jim Bob and Michelle proudly gave Jill away to Derick Dillard. Now, Jill starts her life as a wife and quickly finds out that she is expecting. From ultrasounds to birthing classes, follow Jill and Derick on their journey to parenthood, and join the entire Duggar clan for the gender reveal of Baby Dilly. When the newlyweds decides to host the youngest Duggar daughters for a sleepover, they get a taste of what parenthood will really be like. The family also prepares for a second Duggar daughter to say “I Do.†In November 2014, viewers followed along with Jessa as she embarked on a scavenger hunt engagement planned by Ben Seewald. In the upcoming season, keep up with Jessa and Ben as they head to the altar. When the future Mr. and Mrs. Seewald decide to save money for a romantic honeymoon, it’s all about pinching pennies on the wedding. With a guest list of over 1000 people, Jessa and Ben must plan their dream wedding on a shoestring budget. From budgeting to bridesmaid attire, Jessa knows what she wants but has less than three months to pull it off. And when the future Seewalds tour their soon-to-be home, a little mold may turn into a big problem. The DC-based Duggars are also loving life on the East Coast. With Marcus almost 2-years-old, Josh and Anna are hoping to grow their family. And there is plenty of big family fun back in Arkansas as Jim Bob and Michelle cherish each moment with the kids still at home."
