  1. http://www.recoveringgrace.org/2011/08/ ... ve-part-1/ http://www.recoveringgrace.org/2011/08/ ... ve-part-2/ Perhaps someone who knows more about it can clear it up. But from what I understand, Gothard would get ATI familes to come and care for the Russian orphans and they also had a school at this training center that the children went to. So the "mother" in this article who beats the Russian child is actually an American ATI mother who doesn't even speak the language and is supposed to be caring for this child.
  2. I don't know if this has been posted before, but I thought it was interesting http://www.fornits.com/anonanon/article ... 0116-0.htm
  3. If you wanna play spot the Duggars they and Pris Keller are in the back ground. Not sure what they actually succeeded in doing. iblp.org/iblp/news/2011/02/001/
  4. This is what i found out from the Journy to the heart website I may be wrong in a few points but I got the basic info. If anyone is interested in going to the same retreat as Jana Duggar then here is some info. about it. If you are not a IBLP/ATI member you must pay 800 dollars total (covers materials and travel). On the first day (Saturday) every attendee has to have a meeting personally with Bill Gothard at some point. Thursday is a fasting day (no food and tons of praying). Now, they are requiring new applicants to view the basic Gothard seminar. After the Journey, if you wish to continue in the program you must have credit card handy.
  5. From http://midwestoutreach.org/blogs/bill-g ... king-maker "Of course if Bill and his organizations have been put in charge of educating 20 million Chinese by the Chinese government and prison, juvenile correctional and welfare systems for Arkansas at Gov. Mike Huckabee’s request, why wouldn’t he be involved with Huckabee’s election campaign? Huckabee is an alumnus of the Institute. He is quoted on Gothard’s Prison Ministry website:" If this is true, we already lost - we being people who value freedom. If he's that well connected, EVERYBODY is in on the sellout of the US, from either side of the aisle. This is freaking scary.
  6. ooba-dooba! Just when I think I've covered all the Gothard craziness, I stumble on new parts of the web site that escaped me before!! Take the Total Health Seminar--especially the testimony. http://iblp.org/news/total-health-testimony Example from testimony: The "seminar" description: You just can't make this stuff up!
  7. Check it out here: embassyinstitute.org And the Staddons' breathless reporting of it here: staddonfamily.com/2011/06/17/education-for-life. I love the way they frame it--as if this was the plan all along. Actually, it's more likely a stop-gap measure in response to dwindling seminar attendance and ATI membership. There doesn't appear to be much "new" material, just repackaging of the same old programs. Cute.
  8. I love 'Religious Dispatches' in any case, but thought this article was particularly relevant to FJ: religiondispatches.org/archive/politics/4094/%E2%80%9Ctaliban_dan%E2%80%99s%E2%80%9D_teacher%3A_inside_bill_gothard%E2%80%99s_authoritarian_subculture The reporter basically discusses how Bill Gothard's ATI is becoming increasingly intertwined with certain Republican candidates and discusses the impact of fundamentalist Christianity on politics as a whole, demonstrating that fundie views are becoming increasingly mainstream.
