Harry & Meghan 17: St Meghan's Hagiography
CultureVulture replied to Coconut Flan's topic in Quiverful of Royalty
Very true! But it costs nothing to look, and when the site is live, she'll get lots of traffic & attention. As I said, I'm always open to possibilities that I think are worth the cost. I tend to buy local, definitely honey, jams, sauces, etc. My town has a thriving weekend market with these items, plus veggies & baked goods, so it's rare I have to even buy commercial at the grocery store, unless I have a serious condiment emergency! *LOL* My weakness is actually nice linens. Fine sheets, towels and the like are my Kryptonite! -

I'm really caught up on the jam part of this, I think. I have no real take on Meghan, but I keep turning the company launch over and over in my head so...here's all those hot takes. All the articles that speculate on what ARO (I'm not typing all that y'all) sells suggest it's going to be somewhat like GOOP. Broad, expensive, items (supposedly) selected by the face of the brand, but there's a reason there's only one GOOP. GOOP was a email newsletter for so long before it was GOOP as we know it and spent so much time building a brand around itself that ARO just doesn't have, time wise. But, okay. But now we're hearing things like "luxury jam" which aside from being absurd just seems to break the rules of marketing. Expensive, luxury items should look a certain level of cheap. Even if you go to the grocery store and pick up more expensive jams and preserves, they are packaged in Mason jars or similar, the jar lid is decorated with a fake gingham, and if you're really fancy, they'll have actually knotted a gingham square around there. For a product like jam to cost more, it must look as if it comes from a simpler time, and it should suggest a humble beginning, even if you pay $14 a jar and it's made in a factory. GOOP does this too. Simple logo, really expensive products that look nearly entirely unbranded (especially in their clothes and home goods). It's like SkyMall up in there with a veneer of pleasantly wealthy disinterest. (I miss SkyMall so bad, y'all.) Even Williams-Sonoma does this from time to time. Yes, yes, yes, that Le Creuset costs $500 but look! In our ad somebody cooked the Humble Beans in it. This is not (just) a very expensive Dutch oven, this is an heirloom Dutch oven like the oldy times in which you, inspired by these decades of families around a humble hearth, will cook your ever so classic humble farmers dishes in. Because wealth whispers. It's the costuming rule of Succession. If it's expensive, it should look cheap, or homey, or at least unremarkable. If it's cheap, it should look expensive. Which brings me to ARO. The logo looks too luxurious. The launch is too pretentious. The name is too much. It's not whispering. And if it's cheap but looks expensive, the launch is weird. Launching without product is kind of weird choice anyway. Sure, build hype. But also, risk being forgotten because you burned all your media energy on the mystery of the launch. It's a strange illusion of luxury branding but without the accessibility (right now) for the average buyer. So which is it? A luxury brand trying to look relatable? Jams and jellies and a home orchard? Or an accessible brand trying to exude luxury? It doesn't seem to be doing either, which I guess is a niche you could try to fill, but I think it risks falling into the valley between instead. -

I don’t remember the phrase Tawny Owl being used, but I can remember the woman who would have used that title, as it were. -
Is America more liberal than the news sources would have us believe? Are they trying to keep it even so that can do their usual "bothsides do it"? Or are at least half of the voters in this country just too dumb to live? I keep hoping it's the former and that corporate greed is making conservatives look more popular. If it's the latter, I'm not sure I can keep living here. The lukewarm reaction to Trump's Bible has me worried.

Trump 66: Bond, Can't Post Bond
WatchingTheTireFireBurn replied to GreyhoundFan's topic in Quiver Full of Politics
To think that fucking trump is going to get royalties off the bible and the constitution. I'm an atheist....but...gag! I don't understand why people aren't just absolutely outraged. He shoulda priced it at 66.60 and seen how far he could go cuz obviously even doing that wouldn't bother his cult members. I thought it interesting that trump went after rfk the other day- shortly after those women were interviewed that the combo they'd like to see if trump/rfk...all while saying they're "undecided" and abortion rights were their top issue. Some article I read (possibly here?) said that trump was probably going after rfk now as he's most likely siphoning away some of the crazies from trump rather than democrats from biden. Why is america so freaking right winged even in the liberal "half"?? I'm trying to take heart from the alabama election where a democrat campaigned on abortion and ivf and won in a landslide. plllllleeeeeaaassseee let who ever runs biden's campaign be looking at that carefully - and everybody running for congress.- 66 replies

Not a fundie- but the other day a Michigan state rep tweeted a picture of a couple buses leaving the Detroit airport, wondering where the “illegal invaders” were being bussed to. The “illegal invaders” were the Gonzaga men’s basketball team, who had just arrived in Detroit for their regional semifinal matchup. Dude gets exposed and his response is basically, “STFU you communist.” He’s also an election denier who has predicted another civil war.

Oh the prices won’t be Temu level. It’s her name/brand that makes the pricing, not the quality. As if Jens Honey is worth $200. But if anyone has the money to overspend because of her logo on it it’s fine. But that’s not the same as paying a decent price to support a brand with excellent ecological and ethical background. There will be much fanfare about it but down the line people will find out that it’s not as shiny as promised. And it will come out because M has a massive target on her back so everything will be under the looking glass. @klein_roeschen people love to believe that they have something „special“. That the shipping/flying around of the honey has a bad impact on environment which will affect the trees and the bees badly eventually (climate change, pesticides…. you know the gist…) is just not as important as to feel special. -

Allie work reminds me my mother's school calligraphy worksheets. She still keeps some of them. It was all about religion, obedience, keeping sweet, etc. Guess what? It doesn't work. Feelings, specially hard feelings like envy, loneliness, anger, can be hiden for a while, but always come back. But probably the purpose of that exercices is just learning to hide feelings in order to be *a good girl*. -

My guess was Arrow Canaan on the Baby Names Thread. Her boy names follow an ACC pattern & don't have cutesy spellings. Since there's not much with the aforementioned pattern, that's what lead me to my guess. -

Gotcha. I don’t follow her but see reddit posts about her and couldn’t remember where I saw the name. If it is Amaree, it’s the first “non-noun as a name” name for awhile, right, I can’t remember them all—anchor, armor, anthym, aynjel, are the four I remember that are other words. Then andre, arissa (is is anissa?), anniston (i will never be convinced it’s not after jennifer anniston). So I’m missing 3. Anyway, lucky kid gets a normal name if it’s amaree -
I've been trying to chase down who prints those bibles but I can't find out. It was apparently started a couple of years ago by Greenwood but ran into trouble when other people in religious publishing pointed out that it was sacrilegious to put nationalistic things into a bible. Now, Trump has popped up and sees it as another selling opportunity. The website says that it has nothing to do with Trump's campaign but the licensing of his name and image is under CIC Ventures which is controlled by Donald and the mailing address is his golf course and he will received royalties. The manager of CIC is Nick Luna who is Donald's assistant and body man. It's a safe bet that the money will either go directly to Donald or to pay his legal bills. If I had to guess, I'd say it's being printed in China but I can't pin that down. They did have it in the NIV version of the Bible but they discovered that you can print the King James without problems with copyrights, etc. Thus, they switched it to KJV.

Something made me look up the Boyer Girls on FJ, and there was a post in the previous baby thread, so I couldn’t quote—sorry! I saw that Brigid is now a doula, with Brijeedoula. And wouldn’t you know it, she has another insta called evespromise. That handle is…like, was Eve really into birthing babies, or is ‘promise ’ a try-hard sublimation of ‘curse’? For a fundie Christian, the handle actually sounds threatening! -

Katie and Travis 6: Maturing Faster than Carlin
gobucks replied to Coconut Flan's topic in Quiver Full of Bateseseseses
Today's video was boring. They drove. Dev and Mike and Warden helped drive the U Haul and switch off drivers. The apartment came with a garage so they are excited. Zach and Whitney showed up to help unload the truck along with the previously mentioned peeps. Carlin and Evan came over to help unpack boxes. Hailey seems to be over the stomach bug she had last video. They mentioned Katie's family was out of town (this was last weekend Saturday March 23).

Went here tonight for dinner· 0 replies
They have a kind of Juicy Lucy called the Blucy - which is a type of Juicy Lucy with blu cheese. When my mom, sister, brother in law, and niece were up last weekend we went to the 42nd street location in Minneapolis. Tonight I went to the Como Ave location instead. Yeah, it hit the spot.
