A couple quesitons from members

Hey fellow colorists,

There are a couple questions being asked in the coloring for grownups thread.   I don't think many of you follow that thread, so I am posting their questions here so they might get the best variety of answers.

@ofDany asks:

I'm attending my first adult coloring event in two weeks (Cocktails and coloring).  I've made arrangements to share colored pencils with the friend I'm going with. I looked at the free pages that were mentioned earlier in the thread, but I'm not loving them.  Any other free printables that you know of? I'm trying not to spend money on hobbies this month, especially since I don't know if this will be a one-time thing or not...

I bought my first adult colouring book this morning, I have no clue what pens or pencils to get so I can get started, I'm in the UK and would really appreciate any rec's for good but cheapish stuff to begin with.

I know you guys will be a blessing for them in their coloring journey :)

Thanks @Curious, really looking forward to colouring with my new book, the pictures are amazing in it and I also hope to be able to share them here when I'm finished.

My first colouring pencils where stadiblers(spelling). If in whsmiths open them suckers up to get a feel for them in your hand.

First set was £3.99 but worth it as I graduated to others and have a fair few sets now. Dearest was £29.99 that are derwents but I love them nice soft grip.

free pages - check pinterest.  That's where I got my feet wet in adult coloring.  (I would like to my own board but it has my name in the url).

supplies - i started with what I had - which was the Crayola Twistables (judge me, I don't care, I had them for Bible Marking - yes I was/am a dork like that).  They're okay but they don't blend well and there is a certain lack of blue.    I use CraZ art colored pencils - the 72 count.  Not fancy.  Easy to find.  Cheap.  Good for getting feet wet without a large $$ investment.

From there I branched out into gel pens.  And I had sharpies already (I just expanded them) and added cheap leaves something to be desire but gets the job done at work so I get a destress coloring fix in crayola pip squeeks (64 count, nice color variety - they bleed like crazy).  Others are probably better versed on markers than I am.

I <3 the twistables.  I usually grab them when I take colored pencils out with me.

My coloring books all came from Amazon, none of them were very expensive and they are high quality designs with good paper. I tried using Pentel markers to start with since they were inexpensive, but the quality of them was not good in my opinion, so I went ahead and started buying Prismacolor Premiers, Copic Sketch, and Winsor & Newton ProMarkers, all of which are great and worth every cent.  Staedtler triplus fineliners are good markers when you need a fine line for narrow/small spaces.  I haven't used gel pens or colored pencils so I can't weigh in on those.

@Tikobaby it's the prisma ones that I'm looking at now, totally your fault by the way and I mean that in a nice way too as I'm always looking for new pens/pencils.

My colouring books are from Amazon and Tescos, Asda and The Range the last three are UK based. Oh and Waterstones have a nice selection of colouring books too @caszandra

Not a fundie- but the other day a Michigan state rep tweeted a picture of a couple buses leaving the Detroit airport, wondering where the “illegal invaders” were being bussed to.

The “illegal invaders” were the Gonzaga men’s basketball team, who had just arrived in Detroit for their regional semifinal matchup.

Dude gets exposed and his response is basically, “STFU you communist.”

He’s also an election denier who has predicted another civil war.

Erica has two associations for me. One is Erika Shupe, and the other is that it was the name of the “Brown Owl” of my Brownie Guides group when I joined. Brown Owl is the traditional name given to the main leader of a Brownie unit here in the UK. I remember she always had her hair in a single long plait down her back.

We use Brown Owl for the main leader in Canada too and Tawny Owl for second in command.

I am a Brown Owl! In Ireland, but was also a Tawny Owl in the UK. I love being Brown Owl and the whole story that goes with it.

i think she announced it’d be Amaree,

My guess was Arrow Canaan on the Baby Names Thread. Her boy names follow an ACC pattern & don't have cutesy spellings. Since there's not much with the aforementioned pattern, that's what lead me to my guess.

I don’t think she announced it on her social media yet. I think she might’ve let it slip when ordering something with the baby’s name on it.

Gotcha.  I don’t follow her but see reddit posts about her and couldn’t remember where I saw the name.

If it is Amaree, it’s the first “non-noun as a name” name for awhile, right,  I can’t remember them all—anchor, armor, anthym, aynjel, are the four I remember that are other words.  Then andre, arissa (is is anissa?), anniston (i will never be convinced it’s not after jennifer anniston).  So I’m missing 3.

Anyway, lucky kid gets a normal name if it’s amaree
