WhatWouldJohnCrichtonDo?

"Television is an invention that permits you to be entertained in your living room by people you wouldn't have in your own home."
David Frost

I have a love/hate relationship with television, like a lot of people do (I imagine). It's such a great window on the world, but it also presents such a skewed view of the world. Plus, it can be a giant time-sucking vortex, some days.

"I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set I go into the other room and read a book."
Groucho Marx

Of course, Groucho is the same one who said:

"Outside of a dog a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read."
Groucho Marx

Spoiler

Or in my own words when I was still in my 20's:

...and now back to our program

Mush, predigested words
Spew forth from the great glowing box
Straight into my now empty brains
Filling every nook and cranny
With regurgitated ideas.
Acids float to the top.

That was a great poem!   I really love the first Marx quote, too.

Thanks.  I like writing poetry, but it's been awhile since I wrote any. My brain is so full of busy, busy trivia lately.

I still can't imagine being a mom of 6, or a working mom of little kids, or both. Just my 2 kids take everything I have most days. :my_biggrin:

If you've seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding, when Toula is explaining to Ian on the bridge about her family...that's pretty much what having a lot of daughters is like ;)     Little kids do take up a huge amount of time and energy, and staying home with them is extra busy since you are the one doing all that Mommy work.  Totally worth it, but yeah, I hear you.

I just figured out how to access blogs, I'm new to the board experience, slowly but surely I'm figuring it out, lol.  Big shout-out to fellow astronomy and book lovers!

FJ is my first and only board, @ALM7. It has been a real learning experience!

My dad kept some of his 80s shorty shorts well into the 1990s. Teenage me was mortified if he wore them out of the house.

I really hope they don't think that them using birth control had any influence on this loss.

I doubt they will think that. They've shown to use critical thinking in the past, and some of her siblings that haven't said whether or not they use birth control have had losses.

I do like shorter shorts for men. Like mid-thigh. When men wear huge long cargo shorts, they completely obscure their legs. Now that’s modesty. You can’t see anything. So nicely fitting shorts that go to mid-thigh are visually more pleasing.

I HATE those ugly cargo shorts and the long board shorts on everyone. People should wear what they like, but men's wear in rural areas is so sloppy and gross.  They are so afraid of being fashionable that they look uncomfortable and usually kind of dirty.

I like men who work out and don't care that their shorts are short, because it's easier to run fast in short shorts. Not men who drive around mocking men who work out for being (insert derogatory term for women of choice here). Also let me see some calf muscle kthanksbye

I'm the opposite. I'm all about men's clothing getting sluttier. Tight pants, hoochie daddy short shorts, the works. Gimme that 5 inch inseam 😍

Tight pants for men have been popular for a few years now. It confounds me. If I want to see your dick, I'll let you know. Otherwise, put it away, kthxbye.
