Coloring Supplies ~ Markers ~ Part 1

Curious

Today I thought I would talk about the various markers I have.   Markers come in a lot of different tip styles.  The most common are ultra fine, fine, brush, bullet and chisel.   I am not a fan of the chisel tip, but according to everything I read they are supposed to be great because they are like 3, 3, 3 tips in one.   I still dislike them and even though I keep giving them a try I have gained no love of them.

You do have to be careful with markers because many of them will bleed through.  I generally do single sided pages so it's not an issue, but I err on the side of caution and never use markers on double sided pages because it's hard to remember which ones will bleed through.

Ok on to the actual markers I have! (in no particular order)

Pentel Color Pen Set, Set of 36 Assorted Colors (S360-36)ir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B001E6F108

These are very much like felt tip pens.  They are one of my favorite sets of markers.  They have a good variety of colors and have some nice neutralish colors, which are often missing in other marker sets.  I've had them since around July, 2015 and as of this writing they are all still working great and none of have out of ink  They can bleed through a bit, so I only use them on single sided pages, just to be on the safe side.  They are not ones that absolutely will bleed though, so with some practice, you could probably learn to use them on 2 sided pages.  I prefer to err on the side of caution, myself.

Pro Art Bullet Point Marker Set, 100-Packir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B0025TZ4VE

As noted these have the "bullet point" nib.  I read about this and it is supposedly great because like chisel tips you can make a fine line or a thick one.   I was not thrilled with this set when I first got it due to the bullet tip.  The markers were fine, but I had trouble using them in anything but huge spaces that did not require going around a lot of detailed bits.

However, the more I have colored with various other markers, the more I have warmed to this set.  I've learned the trick to getting a small line is to hold the pen straight up and have started using them a bit more on what I would call "mid size details."

They have a wide variety of colors and color pretty smoothly.  They are ones that can bleed through, so again I only use them on one sided pages.

Crayola Glitter Markers, 6 Count

This is a fun little supplementary set of markers.  The tip is very rounded, so it is hard to get a thin line with them.  I like to use them on mid/large size areas.  They are very smooth and I don't think I've ever had a streaking problem with them.

The colors are a bit "matte" for my tastes, but that is a personal thing.   They can bleed through, so again I only use them on one sided pages, but you could probably practice and be able to use them on two sided, if you really wanted to.

Crayola Metallic Markers, 8 Countir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00FY2OCSK

This is another favorite of mine, but like the set above is a bit more "matte" in color.  They have a tip that allows for relatively small areas, but not intricate details.   They are extremely smooth and again I've had no streaking when using them.   To be honest, I can't recall if these bleed through or not because I tend to use all markers on one sided pages.

q?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B000OZMSYC&Format=ir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000OZMSYC

BIC Mark-It Permanent Marker, Fine Point, Assorted Colors, 36-Countir?t=frejin0b-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B000OZMSYC

I love these!  I can't say enough good things about them.  They come in fine and ultra fine point and if I had room in my marker tub I'd have both sets (I have the fine point).  They are very much like sharpies in terms of tip and how they color and like sharpies, they absolutely will bleed through so should never be used on a 2 sided page.

They come in a great selection of colors and I use them whenever I have the opportunity.  I will definitely reorder these when my eventually die.

I'm going to stop here with just 5 items, as usual.   I will have part 2 coming up soon now that I have finally worked out the glitch with links.

My opinion is the same...don't like the chisel tips at all.  They just don't  feel right and I find them clumsy to use. My favorite are the  brush and fine tips on the Prismacolor double ended markers and the brush tip on the Copic Sketch markers.

Thanks for these marker ideas, Curious. I've been using Sharpie markers (in addition to my Crayola colored pencils), & while Sharpie is an amazing marker in itself it just doesn't come in all of the colors I'd like to use.

I have the 24 (or 36) pack of sharpies and there are a pretty good selection of colors, but I find that you really do need several different sets.  Even all the reds are not exactly the same.   I had plans to pick up a pack of highlighters and one specific coloring book today from Walmart.   I ended up getting like 5 different cheap sets that I hadn't seen before just to try them out.   They were all $5 or so, so it was an easy way to expand my collection (that needs no expansion at this point, but that's not stopping me) ;)

The mystery of what Josiah and Lauren named their Baby E has been solved. It's Ezra. Lauren also has another sibling that was born in the last few years. Per Fundie Wiki, they were probably born sometime after 2019 and their name is Dallas.

But how would that work? Anna gets the reports and it’s her job to stop Josh from using porn/child porn but also she is to dutifully serve him and he has the final say? Either she has authority or she doesn’t.

I think that Anna got the covenant eyes reports, and they were likely all pretty benign, as Josh knew enough to partition the drive and get around the monitoring.

Also, this is Anna here. The one who ran around wondering where the "vibrator" was, right? When they couldn't find the baby bouncer? And seemed to have not one clue. So even if there was something questionable in Josh's reports, with it blurred out for her would she have recognized it? Josh probably knew exactly how far he could push on the regular web that would manage to either skate by the monitoring or be easy to mislead a naive Anna about. And once he had the dark web partition set up, that was no longer an issue anyway. Anything questionable pops up on the report, Josh just says "Oh, it was a strange ad that popped up one day" or "one of the employees must have looked at that" or "oh, how funny! That was a photo of a supercar and the software must have thought it was a person!"

He says he hates pain, that he has to watch his wife experience pain daily, and that, while he never heard her say it himself, his sister told him that their mother, with her health issues, sometimes said, "if this is all life is about, ah'd as soon just dah."

He never heard it because he was gallivanting around the country living in hotel rooms and church basements telling other people how to live, likely while his sister did much of the helping and caring.

I was thinking that as I heard him say it, and hoped someone would notice and post that thought.

Between their culture of women being expected to serve cheerfully and what little we've seen of her personality, Sheila may not have complained to Gary even when he was visiting. She may have been the type to  only express any concerns or discomfort to other women.

I doubt JB would have expected Josh to be looking at CSAM.  Like many of us, he probably believed the violation of his sisters was a crime of opportunity, not true preference.  I didn't fall out of my chair in shock or anything when it came out, but I hadn't assumed he was a pedophile based on his actions when he was a teenager.

And Anna could only get the reports if there was something to report - he may have set up a partition immediately since he was always into computers and she never got any notifications anything was amiss.

My favorite thing about her latest treasure and IG is that she made a big deal about her find, and fashion-scraped the visible parts of the piece… and then someone asked about seeing the inside, and AH had to admitted that she hadn't cleaned the inside of it- she opened the door and there was dust and crap inside. THIS sums up Abbie, perfectly. She’s a superficial show with nothing of substance underneath, and is lazy AF. Clean the damn thing out before you take to the gram for attention.
