Coloring Supplies ~ Gel Pens ~ Part 2
Originally the gel pens post was not supposed to have 2 parts, but when I was looking up the links to the pens I already had I had a little...uh...problem. I found a whole bunch of gel pens I hadn't seen before, so in the interest of keeping you all informed about the coloring supplies I *had* to order them so I could let you know how they work.
It's not an addiction. It's for science!
So here is part 2 of gel pens.
Sakura 37460 10-Piece Gelly Roll Blister Card Assorted Color Medium Point Gel Ink Pen Set
Like all Sakura products these pens are very nice. I do find they are slightly less covering than the other sets for some reason, though. They are great for small areas, but not as nice as the other sets for coloring larger areas. I'm unsure why they are different, but since they are essentially primary type colors, I'm fine using them for small areas and a different pen/marker for larger, background type areas. I would order them again.
Sakura 57370 10-Piece Gelly Roll Blister Card Assorted Colors Metallic Gel Ink Pen Set
This is a fun set. The colors are bright and the metallic effect shows up really nicely. They are super smooth like all Sakura products that I've tried so far. They do take a moment to dry so you need to be careful not to drag your hand over an area that you have just colored. The metallic effect does tend to "stick" to your hand even after they are dry, but I find this with most pens that I have. I pretty much have permanent "glitter hand." It does wipe off with just a plain tissue or cloth. I would definitely order these again.
Sargent Art 22-1500 10-count Metallic Gel Pens
I'm a sucker for metallic/glitter pens, so I had to give these a try. They are great. They are very smooth and work even for larger areas without leaving horrible streaks. They are slightly muted colors. More like a matte finish than a really bright color. The colors tend to be a little darker than the pen barrel would lead you to believe, but once you figure out the colors it's easy enough. I would buy these again.
Sargent Art 22-1502 10-count Fluorescent Gel Pens
I'm also a sucker for fluorescent colors because I love the bright, vibrant colors. These do not disappoint. The yellow is particularly nice in this set, IMO. I have a hard time finding yellows that show up like I would like them to and this yellow is definitely fluorescent yellow. They are nice and smooth and fill large areas easily. I would buy them again.
Sakura 37904 6-Piece Gelly Roll Assorted Colors Stardust Meteor Pen Set
These pens are nice pastels, but aren't so light that they don't work well with other pens. They are smooth as silk like all Sakura products that I have purchased. I would buy them again.
Sakura 38370 10-Piece Blister Card Glaze Assorted Color 3-Dimensional Glossy Ink Pen Set, Bright
I haven't had a chance to use these pens very much yet. They are interesting, though. The colors are beautiful. They come with a colorless blender type pen to help with the 3d effect, but I haven't tried that yet. I just used them as straight up colors for testing. These do take a LONG time to dry. It does warn you on the packaging about that so it wasn't a real shock to me, but I'd say it was probably 10 minutes to be fully dry. They are very smooth and I'm sure they will cover large areas well, even though I haven't really used them for anything like a background yet. There are several other sets with different colors, but I wanted to try them out before ordering a bunch of different sets in case I didn't like them. As some of my other pens run out and I have more room in my pen tub, I will absolutely be trying other sets of these.
