Starbucks Declared War on Christmas Too?

So, apparently Starbuck's redcups this year are a part of the "War on Christmas". This year, the cups are just red with the Starbuck's logo. In the past, they have had Christmas ornaments, or stars, or some sort of decoration on them. This led to calls for a boycott of Starbuck's, and a particularly hilarious blog post from Breitbart.com that went on about how Starbuck's is "whitewashing" Christmas.

And here I just thought it was a semi-uninspired design for the cup that will hold my beloved caramel brulee latte this year. Little did I know that I would be participating in the war against my favourite holiday.

Edit: this bit of hilarity was just pointed out in one of our threads by @PartriarchydefyinValkariehttp://www.freejinger.org/topic/24670-the-war-on-christmas-has-begun/. Apparently Starbuck's is no longer allowed to say "Merry Christmas" (though I have been wished Merry Christmas by the people at my local store), so the trick is to tell them your name is Merry Christmas to force them to have their cups say that.

God, I love War on Christmas season.

It's really funny how when these people are offended by something, all hell breaks loose, but when their beliefs aren't embraced in mainstream culture, they go apeshit about how everyone is offended by everything and "political correctness" and Liberals and blah blah.

Of all the things for people to complain about, they're complaining that a store they don't have to patronize (it's not like it's the only grocery store in town or something) doesn't directly celebrate a holiday of a religion it was never based on in the first place? Wow.

Also, it's not even Thanksgiving yet. These people have no chill.

Green and red are prime Christmas colours. Green symbolizes hope and life, while red symbolizes love and the colour of the King, Jesus Christus. Snowflakes, sledges, a stylized ornament, .... yeah, not so much.

So, in a way, this plain red cup is the most christian thing Starbucks has ever put up for the jolly season.

However, I am afraid if I would tell that to the fine people on breitbart or the guy in the YouTube Video, they would call me out for that pagan catholic heathen I am....:my_angel:

That's the other thing I was thinking: How is a snowflake directly related to Christmas? And more importantly, how does the lack of a snowflake or ornament or literally anything on your coffee cup keep you from worshiping the birth of Jesus? I mean, that's what they're really concerned about, correct? So unless they're bringing coffee into church (which, if I know conservative Christians, I seriously doubt they'd bring that into the sanctuary), it doesn't affect "the reason for the season". And it shouldn't affect them anyway, if they are that strong in the faith.

But why think things out logically when you can just stomp around like Rumplestiltskin and yell about minuscule stuff?

I didn't even realize they changed their cups around Christmas time. I am not observant, I guess. Probably helps that I rarely buy coffee at Starbucks now. I am excited to have the praline one from last year though. Yum!

At this point, these people are just looking for any lame excuse to squawk about the "war on Christmas." I don't get how plain red and green is any less seasonal. Do they need little snowflake designs to remind them how speshul the season is, or something? It's not like Starbucks was adorning the cups with crosses and the nativity scene in previous years...

For what it's worth, I thought the new cups were nicely minimalist while still looking cheerful and Christmas-y.  :occasion-xmas:

Wars, coffee, and Christmas?  I'm so in!  And I don't have a caramel brulee in front of me right now so clearly I'm being persecuted by someone.  Where is my protest movement?

It's also possible Joy was there and requested not to be photographed.

That was a dreadfully extreme reaction and yes therapy needing or she's among the 1 percent of most selfish people on earth.  Joy has PPD and is getting therapy.  I can see where she mighht not go to the funeral, but support Jill in other ways.

"Very thoughtful and intentional updates".  That's a load of bullshit.  She wanted her kitchen redone and they were willing to spend six months in a rental to have it just like Braggie wanted it.  If she'd really put thought into it, she would have arranged the kitchen so that it was more child-friendly.  She could have actually had the kitchen designed so it would be easier to prep for meals and clean up afterwards.  I see nothing like that.  It's just new knobs, distressed painting, and old furniture.   (That distressed green door is making me nuts.)  Where are the pull-outs for pan storage?  What about, you know, rounding the damn corners so your little boys aren't always cracking their skulls on the corners as they skid around the kitchen?  What about comfortable seating?  What about a pantry that's closer to the kitchen counter?  What about making the daily dinnerware easier to put away and not using shelves in the kitchen to display your mismatched bowls and cups?  And why is there a bandanna hanging right near a stove burner?

Didn't she call them "twinbies" as a portmanteau for twin babies? Those are not babies anymore and haven't been for a while. I'm probably just being BEC about this but I do wonder if they'll be babied for as long as Janessa Rodrigues is.

Yes, they will.  The girls are twinsies and the boys are twinbies.  Abbie thinks that's cute.  She mentioned in a story yesterday that she had to clean some poopy diapers so the boys are nearly four and she still isn't toilet training them.  They will stay babies for a couple more years.

More proof she has a shopping problem. She sells stuff all the time. Therefore you don’t notice how much she constantly buys.

More lies d from Braggie. She constantly complained about her concrete counter top because it was always chipping. She also complained about the paint on the cabinets chipping as well. She has been wanting to redo The Whole kitchen for awhile and a total gut job was not necessary at all. She lies as much as she breathes.

I have to add she got two new dishwashers, a new giant fridge and a new $12,000 stove/oven. I’m sure they weren’t broken by the “flood.”
