The Sinclairs, Part Seven: A New Season of Life
Samuel, as well as his siblings Thomas and Jessica, had also recently become young adults. For Samuel, there was only one thing on his mind as he arrived at the Sinclairs' home one afternoon...
"Mr Sinclair, I would like permission to marry your daughter, Anna. I feel the Lord has really brought us together."
"Of course you may, young Samuel. You two are very happy together, and I also feel it's the Lord's will."
"Thank you. Gosh, I was so nervous."
"That's alright, Samuel. I remember feeling exactly the same way when I asked Sarah's dad. It's completely normal."
Samuel headed over to the Island Bluffs in Windenburg, purchasing two bouquets of flowers on the way to decorate the area. He then proceeded to invite Anna to join him.
"Anna, you are such a beautiful young woman," he began. "I've loved getting to know you these past few years."
"Aww, I've loved getting to know you, too," Anna replied. "We always have such a great time together."
"Well..."
"I know a way of ensuring that we will always be together to have a great time. Anna Rebecca Sinclair, will you marry me?"
"Oh, yes! Absolutely!" Anna beamed, tears springing to her eyes.
Of course, when Anna got home, the first people she told were her parents, who were both absolutely delighted.
She found Diana in the laundry room.
"Hey Diana, will you be my maid of honour?"
"Oh, I'd love that! But what about Bethany and Chloe?"
"It'd be too difficult to choose between them," Anna said simply.
"Yeah, that's true," Diana grinned. "They'll end up choosing each other, I guess."
Paul was honoured to be asked to officiate the wedding, and Faith was chosen as flower girl. Faith looked up admiringly at her big sister. How fun to have a grown-up sister getting married! She couldn't wait for her turn.
Paul went to practise his preaching skills in the music room.
"Darn it, it'd be so much easier if I was actually facing the microphone..." he muttered with a wry grin.
Sarah took Anna to a small bridal boutique to search for a dress. After some consideration, Anna choose a gown with a lacy bodice and short sleeves.
They also visited the town of Tartosa, which had a number of wedding-dedicated boutiques. They decided on a wedding bouquet and cake flavours.
"Oh Mum, I'm so excited," Anna grinned. "I can't wait to get married."
"Ah, I remember what it was like when I was in your position," Sarah replied. "So many people said wedding planning was stressful, but I just found it really fun."
Then, that Saturday... the day had arrived! The two families had decorated the church the evening before.
First down the aisle was Diana, dressed in a long baby-pink gown with elbow-length sleeves.
Next was Faith, who was excited to scatter her confetti.
And finally...
"Are you ready, Anna?" Paul asked.
"Yep," Anna smiled. "Let's go!"
As Paul accompanied his eldest daughter down the aisle, he couldn't help but think of the day she'd been born. How had time flown so fast? Doubtless she would become a parent soon, too.
After exchanging their vows, Anna and Samuel shared their first kiss! They couldn't believe that they were finally married.
That evening, they moved into a small house in Willow Creek, and were keen to start their own family...
