Wedding planning

I am helping my daughter plan her wedding and with every discussion about the dress, flowers, reception, etc. FJ lives in my head!

Karma for my having enjoyed snarking on the Nurptials so much!  I don't really know what I'm doing so just hoping to be a better Mother of the Bride than JRod.  I'm already behind since I don't have any pictures of them teetering back into a fountain nor did I buy an engagement bench.  In my own defense I don't chaperone my daughter and her finance since they have jobs and their own house.

She found THE dress...  should I have a modesty panel sewn in, or just have her wear a white t-shirt underneath?

She's chosen which of my tiaras she wants to wear and she picked my first choice too!  We have very similar taste so this is extra fun.   The cat being kind enough to model this is Griffin.

And we have the church....

And we have the restaurant for the reception.  I jokingly asked if she wanted root beer floats in the parking lot and she asked if I was okay, because it's only really a joke if the other person knows what you're talking about.  She does however want a dessert bar with ice cream but her finance really wants a wedding cake.  They compromised and will be doing both.

They still need to set a date, but the church and restaurant have a lot of open availability this summer into it shouldn't be a problem.

Fun things to come;  Bridesmaids dresses, bridesmaids gifts, flowers, the cake, tasting, jewelry, invitations, hair, makeup.

Things to come that are very much not fun:  Finalizing his side of the guest list, groomsmen suits, hiring photographer, learning how to do those tulle bows on the pews, mother of the bride dress.

Photographer?  I wonder if Christopher Maxwell is available?

Seriously, I'm loving her dress!  And she might want to get a back-up tiara.  I'm not sure that cat will give that one back, you know how queenly/kingly felines are. :face_cat:👑

Thanks!  I'm surprised she's going so traditional but I love it.

A Maxwell in a Catholic church would result in an intervention.  How many days do you have to fast for photographing a brides collarbones?

Funny I do have another that's very similar, but a little longer around the sides.  This one is tiara-lite.  :)

To me, young marriage is usually about two young people who want to have sex but their religion tells them they can’t. So they get married. It’s too bad. There’s nothing wrong with premarital sex between two consenting adults.

It’s too bad the Duggars didn’t go with an E name. They would have had many more choices of names that didn’t sound so much alike. Example Joy Anna, Johannah, and Jana.

Edith, Evangeline, Elaine, Ethel, Evonne, Enola, Esme, Elmira, Eileen, and Eudora. Ethan, Emanuel, Edward, Everett, Easton, Errol, Earnest, Erasmus, Ezekiel, and Ellis.

I’d add Ebony to the list, but the Kellers really can’t go with that one unless they actually adopt.

Well, we know what Mike said when James & Shoshanna married in 2004 & he seemed to think James was great then. Typically, neither Mike nor Debi has ever acknowledged Shoshanna's or Gabe's divorces, although they have been backpedaling on some of their hardline stuff in recent NGJ articles.

Shoshanna's IG reel is so garbled it's hard to understand but she seems to be saying that, essentially, her divorce was good because she wanted it. This comports with the primary rule of the Pearls' teachings: Do as we say and not as we do.

Re: Jeremiah's engagement. Not surprising and also not surprising that Shoshanna seems to have memory-holed all of her advice about not getting married too young.

Jeremiah's cousin, Shalom Brand's oldest, Janelle, got married at 17 in 2022. It's what these people do.

Whoa. Since spouses now have rights, I give it 6 months to a year for a public change in the Pearl's divorce theology.

Curious foreigner here: is normal in the US to spell out 2024, 5:30, and May but use numerals for the 23rd day OF May? My Dutch teacher would have had a red pen ball.

Yes it is actually .  Though there are some difference in the order in which dates are written , depending upon whether it's American or British English .
