Another August Thunderstorm

Seems like the worst warm weather stuff always hits right in August.  We just had some bad storms roll through the area.  Here's a screenshot of the NWS radar from about 45 minutes ago.

We had wind and 1/4" hail here.  No major damage that I can see to anything.  Thought we were going to be without power and internet for a while but it came back before too long.  Lots of electrical lines and trees down in the area.

The worst of it was up north of where I am, such as up in Fayette county where there were collapsed buildings and roofs getting peeled off.  Lots of people without power here.

A thunderstorm with winds topping at least 70 miles per hour swept across eastern Iowa Tuesday causing buildings to collapse.

The Fayette County Emergency Management reported a gust of 100 mph and confirmed buildings had partially collapsed in both Oelwein and Sumner areas. One person was trapped in the Baron Motor Supply building in Oelwein was able to get out.

An auto mechanic TV9 spoke to in Tripoli described heavy damage in town, saying “You can’t hardly drive down any streets in Tripoli right now.”

Storm spotters also reported widespread downed trees and powerlines along Highway 150 from Hazelton to Independence and homes damaged in Fairbanks.

Temperature dropped 20 degrees over the past hour.

100 mph gust without a tornado? That is severe.

I think we may have had a storm here after I went to bed. I have vague memories of thinking "That was loud" and then going back to sleep.

…But I have to wonder what he thought he was doing when he decided to talk to the agents. Did he really think that his Arkansas good-old-boy charm was going to impress professional law enforcement officials?

I suspect that Josh can’t think.

He may be able to use his brain to understand and follow directions, but real thinking is more than that. You have to be able to analyze and you have to be able to think of cause and effect.  The Duggar education doesn’t encourage thinking.

Josh probably talks when nervous and just started talking without considering that this was one time he needed to shut up.

What did he say when he found out you were legit?

He was honestly so rude the whole time and was making threats that if it was in fact a fake id I would be expelled from school. When he scanned it and all came back good, he just gave it back to me and told me I was free to go. He did not apologize.

I'm puzzled by the yellow brick road and the paved road.  I thought were were supposed to go through a tunnel and into the light.  I had no idea there were highways to heaven (well, apart from that television show).  Maybe it's like that scene in Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life".  Maybe we'll have to get into our cars and follow the Grim Reaper.

I thought it was a stairway to heaven and a highway to hell 🤷‍♀️

When they took his phone as part of the search warrant, he said he wanted to talk to a lawyer.

But then when the agents told him that he was free to leave, curiosity got the better of him and he stayed and ended up chatting with them. Then tried to use a defense strategy that he was denied a lawyer because they took his phone.

Surely there was a land line in the office he could have used? Maybe not these days I suppose.
not that I’m defending him the guy is stupid and dense and dangerous.

I have a pack of silicon rings I use when volunteering around food or at the beach. It’s only been a bit over a year but I’m already so used to wearing a ring nonstop. My engagement ring was picked by us together and purchased together. I love it so much but wish I had an option for a plain band I could wear sometimes on its own!

Here are my rings! Pls ignore my messy nails.
