The Whittakers Part 3: Cones of Shame

The Whittakers have a pretty big garden, and I've got a few catnip plants (you can't plant catnip in previous iterations of The Sims, only catnip toys). Here's Julia feeding Olly some homegrown catnip.

I decided it was time to get the cats spayed/neutered. Lily was first up! She went into a special machine to have it done.

She came out with a cone of shame. Poor kitty.

Thankfully the cone didn't last long! Little James decided he wanted to pet the cute kitty.

(You can see the rocket that Julia is building in the garden).

One thing I don't like about Sims 4 is how a female Sim doesn't age whilst pregnant. I have no idea why this is. Julia and Mark were originally the same age, but now Julia's three days younger. I wanted James to have a sibling, so I adopted a baby girl, Maddie. It was also 'Spooky Day' (a festival I created to be an equivalent to Halloween), hence Mark's costume. Luckily Maddie didn't seem to be too upset by it!

James wore his own little costume too!

I wanted to get the other cats neutered the day Lily got done, but the vets was running a bit slow and it got late. So, I took the others back a few days later. I noticed this bizarre-looking blue dog with what looks like smoke or steam above it... it later looked normal, so I can only assume that this is some weird Sims illness.

In fact, here's the dog looking normal! Plus Olly with his cone of shame.

Here's Maddie as a toddler. She looks so pretty!

Mm, late night chicken nuggets!

The kids are sharing a room for now. I might expand the house a bit when they're older to give them their own spaces.

One HarvestFest tradition is the appearance of gnomes in the house. Mark tried to appease this one with pie... no dice. You have to give them the right gift or they're not happy. It ended up that *all* the gnomes were displeased so I just sold them haha.

Olly ran away again. I don't know why he's run away twice, I make sure I look after them both properly! Maybe it just happens sometimes for no real reason.

Mmm, Grand Meal time! You get a choice of Grand Meals to make. I chose a turkey one. This also happened to be the first time that Julia and Mark sat down for a meal together!

I love that toddlers can grab their own portion of a group meal in Sims 4. It's so convenient!

If you don't mind add-ons in your game Mc Command Centre (https://deaderpool-mccc.com/#/) allows for pregnancy aging (you will need to turn on the setting).  You can also adjust maximum household size with it if you wanted to.

Ooh that’s something to look into! I’ve considered mods before but never been sure how to install them (I looked into installing some of the NRAAS mods for Sims 3 but never quite understood the instructions). My brother is quite a techy person and is knowledgeable about that kind of thing so when he comes home for the Christmas holidays I’ll get him to help.

Assuming your on Windows, go to your documents folder, then the following folders (divided by the '->') Electronic Arts -> The Sims 4.  If there is folder named 'Mods' then navigate to that, otherwise create a folder named 'Mods' (right-click -> create folder) and navigate to it.  If a file named 'Resoruce.cfg' (it may show up in your window as 'Resource' then the 'Type' is 'CFG File') doesn't exist open notepad and place the lines between the = in it.

==

Priority 500
PackedFile *.package
PackedFile */*.package
PackedFile */*/*.package
PackedFile */*/*/*.package
PackedFile */*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile */*/*/*/*/*.package

==

In Notepad select 'File' -> 'Save As'.  Select 'Save as type' of 'All Files (*.*)' in the Mods directory.  This should show up in the mods directory as a  file of type CFG File.  If it shows up as a TEXT file then you have forgotten to select the All Files.

Download the MC Command Centre Mod and navigate to wherever you downloaded it to.  Right Click on the zip file and select 'Extract All'.  Browse to the Mods directory (for me this is at C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods) and click 'Extract'.

Open The Sims 4, in the top right click the '...' and navigate to 'Game Options' -> 'Other'.  Check the two checkboxes for 'Enable Custom Content and Mods' and 'Script Mods Allowed'.  After restarting The Sims 4 and opening a game you should see a notification that has 'Welcome to MC Command Centre - Version X.X.X'.

If you left-click individual sims you can find some settings.  Otherwise if your house has a computer you can use that to find more settings.  The more settings can also be found by starting the cheats engine (Ctrl+C) and typing 'mc_settings'.

After new patches  are installed it generally disables mods again (it has a popup notification).  If this happens I would go check the MC Command Centre website and see if it has been updated.  If so then download the updated version and overwrite the files in your Mods directory.

A resource that has some pics for setting up mods may be:

https://www.hercampus.com/school/sfa/how-download-custom-content-sims-4

If that doesn't help, or you need clarification feel free to ask, or wait until you see your brother.

You don’t need cable to watch regular network television. Hell, I didn’t get cable until I was in my twenties and I was practically addicted to tv as a kid. I know a few people that refuse to get cable because of the cost.

If I remember correctly, the Duggar’s used to have a small TV they would pull out to watch shows the Duggars were on and once one of the girls had to cover part of the screen because of a Nike moment. I think the Duggars also had a VCR to watch Andy Griffith episodes which always seemed to me to be too racy for the Duggars with all that dating Andy and Barney were doing with different women and no accountability partners.

I always find that funny. The Andy Griffith show is G rated. They even have an episode where Thelma Lou kisses Gomer on the cheek and he thinks they have to get married. Sure there is some lip kissing but that’s it. Guess that’s too much because they aren’t married.

I still haven’t finished watching the latest Bible Study but did watch the first live(with Thomas and him) and the latest gift wrapping live. In my opinion I feel like the person above feels, Tom one minute is subtly crying poor, pitiful me, help me take care of my family, then saying we don’t need anything, I’m the best father ever. I really wish Go Fund Me had a time limit for how long they could stay open. Tom mentioned many times last night how he might start a patreon. Andrea actually did start one at one point, but shut it down soon after she received her first donation according to Tom. Our family donates to those in need throughout the year,(anonymously) but I can’t imagine supporting a YouTube family. It’s like paying another cable/satellite bill to watch reality tv. Tom kept saying over and over how greedy some people think he is. (Yep-hit the nail on the head there). And why would he save the money from the Go fund Me to redo the house or save for his future? I’m sure those people donated to help his family now- to pay bills and put food on the table, and help the children. He comes across as so entitled. I feel sorry for his kids they lost their mother, but again, if people just watch the videos he puts up now, they don’t know what a hateful Person Andrea was. They think she’s this sainted woman who was just the most wonderful person ever. They haven’t seen the ugly side of her( and I mean her conspiracy theories not her looks). And for all the people who watch his videos and say they are Christians, last night they sure as heck didn’t show it by the responses to this one woman. This woman commented on why Tom didn’t take the kids to a dentist (and maybe she was baiting him, who knows) and people went off on her left and right and were not very Christian acting in their responses to her. Tom didn’t get ruffled by it as much as they did, but they just didn’t let the hate go. They dragged it on even after Tom asked them To stop. To me you saying you are a Bible believing Christian doesn’t make you a good person, your actions do. There are some pretty hateful people who follow his channel( and I mean the ones who say they believe as he does, not those who believe as we seem to here). I did hear Tom say that he would be taking the children to the dentist but he had to get through his(his, not theirs) grief first. He also did say if it came down to it and he didn’t have the help he does right now with homeschooling, that he would consider sending his children to school. It would be hard on them he said, but as long as he was raising them then school might be an option. I was surprised to hear him say that, and maybe it was just lip service, but it would be a small start in the right direction for those kids. He brought up many times in both lives how he and Andrea just knew he would get married again, and how the woman might even be someone watching their channel. (Yeah, I think there’s definitely a fan interested and so is he-probably the one he’s making googly eyes at). And Tom, if are reading here, please have a talk with your number one super fan Rachel. I’m sure it’s very off putting to your other fans for her to answer every single question that gets asked. Yes, she’s been a fan for a long time and knows a lot about your family, but she’s veering into stalker territory. People who comment on your lives don’t want to talk to her, they are asking you the questions and want to hear from you. She seems very possessive and in the gift wrapping live she was very snippy and possessive in her responses. If I were Tom I would be blocking her, or at the very least having a private chat with her. Someone commented how she and Andrea must have been very close and she must be close to the family now for her to know all she does, and to comment the way she does, and another person answered she had never met the family before. A couple people were shocked about that fact. She was a little quieter after that but didn’t take long for her to start right in answering people’s questions again. I’m glad Thomas is talking about moving out. And I hope he moves off he property and not into a tiny house on site. I hope all those kids move out when the time comes and doesn’t let the guilt of having to be there for the younger ones make them stay. I can see Asher feeling like he has to stay to help, but I hope i’m wrong. I have so much more I’d like to comment on, but I’m sure everyone thinks I’ve talked long enough-LOL. There’s just something about this man that gets me riled up. And not in a good way.

I just found out I'm pregnant with our first child on Monday. I think I need to stop reading this thread or I'll freak out about your horror stories of back labor and post-partum hemorrhage and what not. This shit just became way too real. 😱:pb_lol:

Congratulations! I hope you have a calm, happy pregnancy and an easy labor.

One of the hazards of reading stories is that people dont tell "good" ones because they're boring and not 'stories'

(For example, mine: I had miserable morning sickness pregnancy. We tried everything to get the labor started and finally went in to induce.  It worked, there was labor. I had all the meds; the epidural was *just *wearing off as she showed up, but the pain  never got worse than kidney stones.

There was some tearing that got angry a week later-docs (successful)  solution was frequent baths, sitz baths, and not wearing pants as much as possible.

And then there was nursing...the nursing guru vised us in the hospital and suggested a different hold, but said use what I was if it was working (it was) and said baby was the best nursing kid on the floor.  We were concerned because of hormonal migraines, esp since I went back to FT work 6 weeks in, but pumping was doable and the nursing hormones made it almost as better as meds. Then as she nursed less, at first I donated (a LOT) then we made her (angrily) give it up at 18 months.

All that is....kinda boring. Nothing notable. AND sometimes it makes people with lousy experiences hostile. Or just feels hurtful to them.

      Horrifying stories are more riveting
