Same Game, Different Laptop: The Whittakers

So my laptop went stupid, again. I think the battery needs replacing.

My mum kindly lent me her laptop (which she doesn't really use) and I downloaded Origin/Sims 4.

My first port of call was to create the Whittakers! The little family consists of Mark and Julia and their kitten, Lily, who's a calico.

Julia is a Nerd Brain, which involves becoming very good at Logic and Handiness. She also enjoys video games!

But where's Lily....?

She's so teeny! Unlike in Sims 2 and Sims 3 Pets, you can create a kitten in CAS. You could adopt a kitten in 2 and 3, but not create one yourself.

Just like with Vincent Powell, Mark is a wannabe chef.

They bought Lily a comfy bed... but she's a cat, so she's sleeping outdoors. At least it's on grass rather than hard concrete...

Off to work as an astronaut!

Finally, Lily's sleeping in her cat bed...

Ta da! She's a big girl now!

Uh oh, Lily started eating the vegetable dumplings...

The Whittakers live in Willow Creek. Their home's Lot Traits are Chef's Kitchen, Great Soil (helps with Gardening) and Science Lair (Logic and Rocket Science).

This bizarre-looking contraption is a cupcake machine, although it can also produce various other baked goods with the Baking skill (Cooking skill is for the cupcakes, and the Baking skill produces stuff like doughnuts, muffins and tarts).

Mmm, lemon gelato...

Cats and their choice of sleeping spots...

Lily started randomly meowing, with hearts round her. After a quick google, it turned out she was in heat. This is also new to Sims 4. You also have the option of getting your cats spayed/neutered... I haven't got round to that yet.

So, they adopted Olly! And it seems like the two cats got on well! No kittens appeared; I have no idea if this screenshot captured mating or not.

Aside from the usual festivals (Love Day, Harvest Fest, Winter Fest, New Years) you also get random holidays pop up. The first random holiday was Season Premiere Day, which I've not had before. The show was called Game of Llamas (a lot of the books Sims can read have got titles that reference pop culture, eg Lord of the Swings, Darley Porter and the Basement of Shadows by U.K. Englishlady :laughing-rollingyellow:and The Bladder Games, among others).

Both Mark and Julia were working on Love Day, so they had to wait until late to get their traditions in (each holiday has various traditions, and you can get various moodlets depending on how many you complete).

Which expansion packs do you have? I love building houses in the sims 4 (and not really having the mood to actually play rn...) and if you'd like I could make you something :chu:

Expansions: Seasons, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get to Work.

I also have various game/stuff packs: My First Pet Stuff, Parenthood, Dine Out, Toddler Stuff, Backyard Stuff, Kids Room Stuff, Spooky Stuff, Outdoor Retreat, Cool Kitchen Stuff, Holiday Celebration Stuff.

A house build would be awesome! I'm not much of an architect when it comes to The Sims.  :text-thankyouyellow:

I don't have many of those game/stuff packs, but I'll whip out something! I'll leave enough room for you to add your own things. I always use bb.moveobjects too, and playtest my builds to make sure no sim gets stuck... hahaha. How many bedrooms (and beds) do you want and is there a budget?

I think that all are going to believe the fundamentals of the faith; the differences are mostly external. Only one of the pastors I knew while in IFBX-dom were against birth control and I don't think he preached against it but people were aware that he personally was against it. Dress is another external difference all the way from pants on women/ shorts on women and men are fine, one piece bathing suits are fine, to dresses only for women/long pants only for men, all shirts must have collars/ no T-shirts, jeans for work only, if you choose to wear a straight rather than a full skirt, the slit has to be sewn up, regular clothes for swimming, for women, nothing lower than an inch below your collar bone, no keyhole blouse/dress closures, nothing sleeveless. Bible versions KJV only to some other versions are okay, especially for study at home. No TV/never set foot in a movie theater to TV in the home is fine as long as you are careful what you watch, same with movies. No alcohol at all ever to alcohol in moderation is fine. No dancing ever to line dancing is okay. Absolutely no touching, 6 inch rule to holding hands is okay after engagement to hugging/kissing is fine just no sex prior to marriage. Music could be only hymns with only piano and organ accompaniment to a drum in the orchestra was okay as long as it was used sparingly to a full-out worship band. If you were at church any less than Sunday School, Sunday morning service, Sunday evening service, Wednesday evening service, Thursday night soulwinning, Saturday bus calling and youth activities you were less than to Sunday AM service with small groups or studies throughout the week to home church.

I could go on but I won't, LOL.

Exactly! The core beliefs are essentially the same, but there are lifestyle differences.

If Jill were here to do a FJ AMA, what one question would you most want to ask her?

I would ask something like: 'Since you've been married and out on your own, doing things a little differently than your family did growing up, what are some of the biggest surprises you've learned about the world outside of that lifestyle?"

(or, in other words--"Since you have broken free from the total domination of your family cult, what are some of the things they told you about the evil outside world that you have since discovered to be untrue?")

Gothard has his IBLP/ATI variety. Vision Forum is another variety. Then you have IFBx "camps" (some of which may also be IBLP or VF) somewhat broken up by colleges Hyles-Anderson, Bob Jones U., Tennessee Temple U., Landmarkists, Ruckmanites, Bob Gray, Sr. of TX, Bob Gray, Jr. of TX (both influenced by IBLP), Golden State, North Valley, etc. ;and then IFBxxers like Steve Anderson; non- Baptist but fundie like Pensacola Christian College; and IFB who want nothing to do with the legalism of the aforementioned IFBx or xxer churches but are still independent churches who hold the fundamentals of the Baptist denominations. Then you've also got Reformed Baptists. And Church of God Holiness. Etc., etc.

Y'all should see the time I made a map, a la Charlie Day, for my now-fiance trying to explain the fundie branches.

Do you think she made a typo in today’s IG? She’s complaining about how her pregnancy is affecting her body and health, and comparing it to her last twin pregnancy when she was “barely in her 20s, and now she’s nearly 38, (next month).”  Yesterday, she mentioned that her first twins will be 8 this week. So doing the math, she had the first twins 1 month shy of being 30.

Grump, grump, grump. Stop having kids. You loathe everything about pregnancy, delivery and child rearing. Maybe if she reads it enough times, she’ll make different decisions.

Yeah it was a typo - should have read "barely still in her 20s".

And surprise! Being pregnant is different each time, and puts more strain on your body. Look forward to those varicose veins all over your legs Abbie!

Claritin is such a perfect shipper combo.  Who came up with it first? It makes me want to invent more fictional couples to fit medicines.  (Prometheus & Zachary = Prozac, Rita & Lincoln = Ritalin, etc...)

I believe it was me. I've never named a couple before!

there is something icky about this - her seemingly way older and more mature and justin being a child.

it's not like ben and jessa

this doesn't look adorable - it looks like wrong

I agree 100%, but I don't quite know why. Maybe if I looked back at comments from early Ben/Jessa, we all thought the same thing then?
