Our 1st visit - Day 1

Gobbles

On Sunday morning, October 6th, we drove a couple of hours north to visit Kiki and our breeder. Twenty minutes before we reached the breeder it started raining and it did not stop for the rest of the day. It was horrible, like really heavy rain. We spend some time at the breeders house and got a collar for her and the breeder gave us also a cat littler box. Everything else we brought with us. Kiki was shaking when we put her in the box in my car because she was so nervous. It was her first time being alone without her "siblings" and of course her "Mum". We saw her earlier this year, but obviously we were like strangers to her.

While driving to the apartment we rented for two nights we thought that she farted because it smelled, well, funny. But once the smell did not go away we checked and she had pooped inside the box. (Good thing we did a last minute change of plans at home and I left her really good box at home.) She was inside a plastic box with washables towels. When we arrived at the flat we took her in the rain to a grass area so that she could pee, but she did not. (She is not used to the concept of going for a walk to pee, at her breeder they can go in and out of the house whenever they want.)

I had her on my arm when we greeted the family who owned the apartment and she did great with that. Looked at them with interest but no barking, nothing negative at all. We let her run around in the flat (it was huge, two bedrooms, living room, huge kitchen, bathroom and a spare room). She perked up the moment we let her run around and she inspected everything. She even noticed right away that a clock in the kitchen had a funny tick noise. She was standing in front of it and looked up. Her big sister at home is also really curious, but Kiki is another level.

We spend the rest of the day mostly inside playing with her due to the weather. She played with all her toys and loved the treats her big sister gave her. (Little dried fish.)

We took her back to the breeder for the night and got her on the next day.

***

Obviously the peeing situation will have to change once she is here, but that is no big deal for us. No cat littler box here, we are not in favor of letting dogs pee in that and not taking them outside. She will have daily walks (at least two) once she is here and she will also have access to our garden. We noticed when she had to pee, but due to the situation we could not simply put her outside fast enough. No fenced in yard for example.

She shows no signs of fear when driving with other dogs so, the car situation she will have to get used to. Also no big deal. Her big sister also had some problems in the beginning but started to love it after a few times.

All the key things she needs to be perfect in are there. We adore how curious she is. Extremely alert and shows interest in everything. She does everything you ask her for food, which is great to work with. She loves to snuggle and is extremely calm when you carry her. (The breeder said that is one of her priorities for safety reasons.)

Here are some pictures, Day 2 and more pictures in the next post!

Kiki is adorable. Very bright and curious looking.   And that cuddly dog toy is bigger than she is!  I'm so glad it all went well, except for the rain.  A couple of accidents on the first big visit in the car and in a new place aren't surprising.

I agree it is much better to have even tiny dogs pee and poop outdoors.  But some of the really little ones have tiny bladders and need to go surprisingly often.   If Kiki is used to going in and out a doggy door at will to potty she may not be used to doing it on leash.   Perhaps the breeder could work on that.

Some dogs are funny.  I adopted a shy dog, used to running free in a paddock for  potty needs, who would not pee or poop on leash, or when anyone was watching, for ages.  And then she still had to turn her back, stick her head into a shrub, and pretend no-one was watching to go!

The dog toy was not for her, I had it packed for me because I always bring one with me when I go on vacation. I showed it to her and she loved it and so I gave it to her. She even pulled it around. I had to remind her not to damage it once and she immediately stopped chewing on it and continued to play nicely. Being nice to stuffed animals is very important due to my love for them. I'm glad that she listened so well. (Still, she won't have unsupervised play time with them, only her doggy toys.)

I'm sure she will adapt fast to her new life once she is here. Big sister wasn't potty trained when we got her and it took only a week or so. My Mum only said that our plans on renovating our floors are on hold until after that is done when she is here.

Her big sister loves to pee with a audience. Haha! She likes it when we watch and even checks if we do.

Kiki will have the time of her life during "potty training". A famous German dog trainer once said that you are praising them right if the neighbours think you are crazy. ?

It's also possible Joy was there and requested not to be photographed.

That was a dreadfully extreme reaction and yes therapy needing or she's among the 1 percent of most selfish people on earth.  Joy has PPD and is getting therapy.  I can see where she mighht not go to the funeral, but support Jill in other ways.

"Very thoughtful and intentional updates".  That's a load of bullshit.  She wanted her kitchen redone and they were willing to spend six months in a rental to have it just like Braggie wanted it.  If she'd really put thought into it, she would have arranged the kitchen so that it was more child-friendly.  She could have actually had the kitchen designed so it would be easier to prep for meals and clean up afterwards.  I see nothing like that.  It's just new knobs, distressed painting, and old furniture.   (That distressed green door is making me nuts.)  Where are the pull-outs for pan storage?  What about, you know, rounding the damn corners so your little boys aren't always cracking their skulls on the corners as they skid around the kitchen?  What about comfortable seating?  What about a pantry that's closer to the kitchen counter?  What about making the daily dinnerware easier to put away and not using shelves in the kitchen to display your mismatched bowls and cups?  And why is there a bandanna hanging right near a stove burner?

Didn't she call them "twinbies" as a portmanteau for twin babies? Those are not babies anymore and haven't been for a while. I'm probably just being BEC about this but I do wonder if they'll be babied for as long as Janessa Rodrigues is.

Yes, they will.  The girls are twinsies and the boys are twinbies.  Abbie thinks that's cute.  She mentioned in a story yesterday that she had to clean some poopy diapers so the boys are nearly four and she still isn't toilet training them.  They will stay babies for a couple more years.

More proof she has a shopping problem. She sells stuff all the time. Therefore you don’t notice how much she constantly buys.

More lies d from Braggie. She constantly complained about her concrete counter top because it was always chipping. She also complained about the paint on the cabinets chipping as well. She has been wanting to redo The Whole kitchen for awhile and a total gut job was not necessary at all. She lies as much as she breathes.

I have to add she got two new dishwashers, a new giant fridge and a new $12,000 stove/oven. I’m sure they weren’t broken by the “flood.”
