Yes, I'm looking down my nose at you...

But don't take it personally...I just got my first pair of bifocals and I'm just trying to see the screen.

between my normal rbf and fairly aloof demeanor this haughty pose to try and see is not going to help my rep and a cuddle bunny.

i put it off way too long and I'm enjoying my new found clarity of vision except in the mirror.  My natural 20:100 and 20:200 blur takes years off my face and being able to see put them right back.

i long for the days where life was boring ...I miss boring.  The kidney stone which tried to kill me two weeks ago (one week before my sons appendix made a break for it) has been vascilating between lying dormant and waging war on my ureter.  It is so tiny so why it's taking so long is beyond me but im waging a counter attach with water, lemon juice, and Norco tonight and I will not be defeated.  Sure, I was in so much pain in the grocery store Mr. Buffy gave me my juice and told me to sit in the car ...

(actual juice)

But I'm home and I'm hydrating and I'm very medicated so victory will be mine!

Go, Buffy!

Pass that stone!

Kick its butt!

Make it leave you alone!

(Okay, I was never a cheerleader and my cheer just proves it. :my_biggrin: )

Love the juice bottle!

I lol'd about your vision blurring your wrinkles. I have worn glasses since my 20's I finally decided to get contacts last year and was so disappointed to see puffy eyes and crows feet. My son didn't like me without glasses either. (But he is 8 and doesn't like change)I'm sticking to glasses, they hide so much.

My main disappointment on getting multifocals for the first time a few years ago was realising how badly my shower needed cleaning.  I'd worn reading glasses for decades, but since I don't read in the shower I thought it looked OK.  Obviously my distance vision was deteriorating...  Opening the door for the first time when having glasses on was a nasty shock.

Pin other news, go buffy, I second WWJCD - pass that stone!

I'm sorry about all your recent medical drama but what I really want to know - what are going to do with that squash? Yum!

This!!!! I've worn progressive lenses for several years but I don't wear them in the house cuz I've lived here forever and can find my way around blindfolded so who cares if things are blurry, right? So I go on my merry way thinking my house is looking pretty good until I sometimes forget to take off my glasses when I get home after work. One would think the shock of seeing the reality of my house when wearing glasses vs my perception of things without them would lead to a mad cleaning frenzy, but nope. After gasping in horror, I generally remove my glasses to return to my seemingly clean house and then proceed to do anything but clean.

I have to say that I absolutely hate walking downstairs while wearing my multi-focals because judging distance while looking down is a bitch if you're not looking through the exact right spot of the lenses. Misjudged last year, missed a step and fell and broke my toe. Damn toe still hurts sometimes.

I turned into a bobble head when I first got progressives about 8 years ago.

As for not wearing them at home -not an option since I am nearsighted and have astigmatisms (which I did not have when I first got glasses at age 9 and appearing in my mid-30's)

Oh yeah, stairs and multifocals, @Playagirl... you definitely have to be careful.  I do a fair bit of bushwalking, and wear just distance sunglasses, but I haven't got plain distance glasses, so if the light's too dim for sunnies, I remove my glasses altogether if the track is really rough or steep as its better to be evenly blurry than to misjudge the distance because of the multifocals.  And I love your attitude towards housework, maybe I'll take off my glasses before entering my bathroom...

How are you going with yours, @HerNameIsBuffy? If I'm doing lots of work at a computer I sometimes revert to my reading glasses because that looking down your nose at the screen for a long time gives me a sore neck!  And have you passed that pesky stone yet?

@Karma I'm feeling it in my neck... @clueliss was spot on - bobblehead!

It's not as bad as I'd thought although I'm not sure my reading section is big enough.  Driving is awesome - perfect ratio of distance when looking ahead and reading dash when glancing down.

And no to the stupid stone which is trying to destroy me and refuses to go away.  I've named it Trump.  I don't get it - Saturday night after I last posted I was in agony and didn't get to sleep until 6:00 am - as bad as when I went to er a few weeks ago.  Then sometimes sore but bearable and other times (like now) zero pain.  I don't understand the mechanics of this.  Based in where the pain is it's definiately lower so hopefully soon.  I do my Lamaze breathing, relaxation excercises, walk through to get it to progress...it's just like super prolonged labor except at the end I'll have something decidedly less cute than a baby to show for my efforts.

oh PSA - downing shots of equal parts lemon juice and apple cider vinegar SUCKS!  And is also unpleasant on the way back up...in case anyone was wondering.

@Gossamer1 that's only my second time buying squash - first time end for soup and not successful.  But they looked fun and on a whim decided I was going to find a recipe.  I'm open to suggestions!  I'll have a lot more time to cook since I'm taking a page from @Playagirl and just taking off my glasses instead of cleansing my house!

@HerNameIsBuffy I make noodles out of zucchini and sauté basil, tomatoes and garlic to put on top. For my microwave I cook the noodles for 90 seconds to have them perfect. Squash I roast. It's fucking delightful with salt and pepper.

Tell me what to do with the tofu and we've got a meal.

Hmmm. On that, I probably would cube it up really small and sauté it in with the tomatoes et al. Possibly after marinading a while in some Italian dressing.

Just make sure to press it. You'll thank me later.

The man child eating it will thank you later.  I'll buy it and I'll cook it..but eating it?  That's a bridge too far, madame.

If you're driving already you've done well - it took me literally months to get used to them when I first got them.

Ugh that stone is being very trump like. Hopefully both will disappear soon without too much more trouble!

@HerNameIsBuffy, I haven't graduated to bifocals (or whatever may be in my future in the next few years) yet, but my dad got a pair of glasses that were single vision just for using while he was at his computer. He would sit down and switch from his trifocals to his computer glasses if he planned on using his computer for very long. (Now he's started wearing contacts, so I'm not sure what he does anymore.)

I miss having eyes that can switch from staring at my knitting to looking at the television screen quickly. It's always out of focus for a few minutes now. Bleah!

I did a butternut squash for the first time this weekend for thanksgiving. Cubed and roasted with salt, pepper and garlic. Definitely fucking delightful.

Courtney Rogers:  Candace or Cassidy or Campbell

I would say Candace is too close to Charis. However, she’s already got a Callie and a Callena, a Case and a Cash, a Cade and a Caydie. Oh, never mind.

Cassidy is a good possibility for her. I’m surprised she hasn’t already used Cassie.

I think you are right. Although John-David was Josh’s best man. But Josh wasn’t for John-David. John said in the special after the first scandal that he no longer respected Josh & I’m sure his respect for him has gone further down since.

I suspect John-David and many others had lost respect for Josh a long time before but were expected to treat him as their responsible older brother for the show.  Once the Ashley Madison news broke, and the original show was discontinued, I believe it became OK for them to say what they thought of him.

Whoa, and then there had been previous Scottish names. Or at least the one, Hamish, from other couples. Is this a new trend?

Mind you, my sister would've been Hamish, if she'd been a boy. UK though, not USA.

I think some of the Mortons are starting to like uncommon names. Probably because there are so many with the same name.
