Are they out of their minds?

There are articles out there that give you ideas for things to do on your staycation.  The vast majority of them require effort...and leaving my couch.

Spoiler

I-Love-You-Couch.jpg

Not the first time I've felt like an outlier in life - but ffs if I wanted to do stuff I'd go to work.

But I do like to plan and am a list making kind of girl so here is my to do list for day one of my staycation:

  1. Strawberry pancakes for breakfast
Spoiler

  1. Coffee out of my favorite Hello Kitty cup - not gulped out of a travel mug
  2. Catch up on FJ - I have no idea what's going on here anymore?  Did you defeat fundamentalism?  Did we convert to fundamentalism?  Did the Arndts switch from softball to yoga?  Did Steve Maxwell give the okay on contrasting buttons?  I feel like I've been in an information deprivation chamber
  3. Hot bath, favorite bath salts, and Netflix
Spoiler

  1. Pajamas - all day.  No underwires, no shoes.

  1. Rap along, LOUDLY, to my favorite Epic Rap Battles once I have the house to myself.  Complete with battle rap gestures.

    1. Squee over @Destiny's new kitty
    2. Paint my toenails hot pink

    1. Eat cupcakes

    1. Drink pop - grape or strawberry or orange...sickly sweet nectar of the Gods.

I do have some stuff I want to do over the course of the week - but for the most part if I don't look like this by the time I go back to work next week I'll have failed at staycation.

That goes without saying...as long as you're cool with knowing on the other end of my typing is a braless, scrunchy haired, lazy bitch whose main goal in life is apparently to eat crap while doing nothing.

That's why I love doing stuff for FJ (and hate real life from keeping me from it) since no task requires me to wear proper underwear or leave my couch.

I totally miss you btw.  When you think about it when I neglect the people in my life who I love to hang with in order to spend ridiculous amounts of time with people I don't like at all because the latter gives me money...

Kind of makes me some kind of IT whore.  Funny, I remember being slutty being so much more fun when I was younger.

LOL since all the above is almost always accurate for me as well, who am I to judge? Fuck society and their pants and their bras. I can't wait for days off. I MISS YOU! (And I want to have you help me start writing the testing protocol for SSO, cos I rebuilt both tests in a fit of efficiency last week. It's all @OnceUponATime's fault.) Not talking to you every day makes me sad.

Just because I'm not here to be a bad influence doesn't mean you can go getting all efficient while I'm off being being a miserable grownup.

And I love testing protocol!  Testing last fall was how I went from being a shallow and flighty poster to being a...

Shallow and flighty poster with who can also approve stuff. :)  Seriously I love testing - I wouldn't mind trying to break software for a living.  I'd look into breaking out of my niche...but I just got a new chair and it's really nice.

Uh oh...i do need to catch up.  Widgets?  Few words strike more trepidation into my heart than widgets...but FJ has taught me to be more open minded about life. :) I'll check out the place where this would have been posted when I get home tonight so I can get up to speed.

LOL OUAT, I still haven't figured out how to make your widget. SOMEDAY! (Now get to writing that letter!)

I know you love testing B, and you are way better at it than me, so I wanna write up a whole protocol b/c you know as well as I do how badly SSO could go if not tested to kingdom come.

Idk - I post a pic of a naked Julia Child in the bathtub and no one cares about that... you and @Destiny would rather talk shop.

Looks like I'm not the only one who needs a vacation!

I find anyone who only thinks their political and religious beliefs are right and thinks anyone who doesn't agree with them are brainwashed insufferable. I will likely never vote for the UK Conservative party because I don't share their values but I have had respect to some extent respect for the party leaders and Prime Ministers who do a difficult job regardless of what I think of them. Boris may be the exception to this because he is so terrible and makes me miss Theresa May and Gordon Brown and those two were bad at being PM.

Ah you're right Ezra turned 14 in May. I thought his birthday was in the late fall / winter like the other kids. It looks like Simon and Della are almost 3 years. Then she really hits her stride: Della and Evy and Nola are a couple months shy of 2 years, Evy and Nola and Theo are a few months over 2 years, Theo and Honor are two years and a month, and Honor and Shiloh are also 2 years and a month. The new babies will be about a 1 and a half years younger than Shiloh.

Is Simon 13, or soon to be such?

      • Newest "Life with Gwen and Joe".  It's about "The Importance of Christ-like Words and Speech."  It's the week of camp and I don't see anything approaching social-distancing at all.  Gwen is in shorts and a little top with spaghetti straps.  Of course, she's got on platform heel with it.  Silly, vain woman...  She starts out by talking about the tongue and about how much trouble you can cause with it.  She goes over the "not taking the Lord's name in vain" in the Ten Commandments" (which she refers to as "the top ten commands") and then she says that you shouldn't even use replacement words for the bad words because Jesus probably wouldn't do that either. And if you're out there in the world using cuss words or sounds-like cuss words, you're responsible for messing up God's kingdom.

Gwen says that people who talk pleasantly and without anger or cuss words have a better life.  She specifically reminds the boys that they're "not cool" if they use bad worlds or words that sound like cuss words.  She says that others will roll their eyes at them and they will be in a minority.  They'll stand out for the wrong things.  People won't like them.

Joe, once again, got very little speaking time.  Gwen let him read a few verses and, at the end, he got to talk about how proud he was of all the campers.

        Spoiler

At the ends, Joe tries to start dancing with Gwen but she just stands there.  Is the bloom off this particular boy-toy, Gwen??

On his web page Spanky begs for "ongoing, monthly support" and makes a weak case for why being forgiven of his sins and scandals entitles him to be a minister again:

        Quote

It is a deep pain to me that for the rest of my life, any time I cross paths with anyone who knew me, the first thing that will come to their mind is Ashley Madison or DUI. They may say, “Love your podcast” or more likely, “Love your dad” but my scandals, I know, come immediately to mind. It doesn’t make me angry. I get it. I’m sure if I ran across James MacDonald or Mark Driscoll my own mind wouldn’t immediately turn to ways they have been used in the kingdom. My hope, however, is that if such a meeting should ever take place, following hot on the trail of their public failures would be this thought- “Jesus saves sinners like us.”

Ron Blankenship responds that, after all his numerous scandals, how is anyone to trust Sproul again?

        Quote

So how is anyone to know if you can ever be trusted in ministry again? What you write here doesn’t help your case. Any minister with a platform runs the risk of discrediting the gospel message of being “saved from sin” if he repeatedly falls prey to scandalous sins himself. Getting a ministry platform in the first place shouldn’t come easily, although for the sons of ministry celebrities it often has, and often with disastrous consequences.... It sounds a lot more like playing the victim. It doesn’t help your case for being restored to ministry. Go back to the basics. What does the bible say about the qualifications for ministry? Surely you know. There are objective standards, all specified in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Everyone who’s professed faith in Christ is forgiven of their sins, no matter how bad. But not every forgiven person meets the biblical criteria for being a minister, let alone being restored to ministry after having lost it.

Rather than responding Sproul (as Ron Blankenship puts it) "hides behind his wife's skirts" and has Lisa respond. She does so in typical Lisa attack-mode, spewing out threats of impending hell fire on "slanderers." Sproul then praises his wife for her sagacity and encourages Ron to learn from her fine example. Sproul is a founding father of the Patriarchy movement. I can't help but find this all quite laughable.
