This is a true story...

Exposition:  this dongle runs software that makes task X slightly faster.  Task X is approximately 5-8% of affected user's job.  Task X can be done with other software they use for other tasks all the time, but it's admittedly more cumbersome to do that way.  On an inconvenience scale of 1-100 with 1 being, moving aside to let someone pass you in the hall and 100 being HOLY SHIT, I HAVE TO DIG A DITCH WITH A DEMITASSE SPOON?!  it's a 7.

TLDR - affected user spent 30-40 minutes today doing something that would typically have been 15-20.  Also...I didn't do it on purpose.  In case you were wondering, no, I don't break things to cause more work for me because I have nothing better to do.

On to the story...

I accidentally broke a work dongle and was genuinely very sorry.

I immediately called to order a replacement and lined up an interim solution to mitigate the inconvenience as much as possible to the affected person.  Because I do genuinely feel bad if I put someone out, however inadvertent it was.

So let me walk you through my emotional journey:

Immediately

After being told it's okay...but sad face about how awful this is...

more assurance that it's fine...but when is the replacement getting here because it's been an hour...

Upon being asked for the 3rd time in 40 minutes when the person arranged to drop off interim replacement dongle will get here when the answer was unchanged from "he's on the way here and will be here in about an hour."

If that person reads FJ I'm going to have a lot more time to hang out here...to blog about being unemployed.

This person needs my hierarchy of important people in my work universe.  On that list - very high on that list is the person who could, if they chose, remove my access from everything system wise.  (they phone guy on the other hand is fair game, you can take my phone and I'd be happy).

The comments to her post about a balloon release for Isla has been absolutely overrun with people pointing out that balloons are really bad for the environment.

I actually agree 100% with this, and spreading the word is key, but it seems in very poor taste to pile onto someone grieving a much-wanted baby. Social media is a brutal place and Jill didn't need this right now. Apparently she said the balloons were biodegradable - I don't know whether that's the case but either way it's an awful time for her and this makes it worse.

From the photos she shared it looks like lots of Duggar family was there - I spotted Jim Bob among them. Joe and family was there but I didn't look too closely to notice who else had showed, and the howlers can be hard to tell apart. I'm glad Isla got a good family showing.

The anti-balloon people who rage on people’s funeral posts are the absolute worst category of people.

The funeral looked very sweet. You could tell she was very much wanted and that Jill was getting a lot of support.

My apologies to all who love MCM furniture. But I think this piece is super ugly. It reminds me of my parents' 50's furniture. I even disliked our furniture then.

I don't know enough about the furniture and period to really have an opinion but I'm not a fan of that particular piece.

AH had to admitted that she hadn't cleaned the inside of it- she opened the door and there was dust and crap inside.

This I just don't get. Surely at least part of the point of it is storage? At the very least wouldn't you clean just to make sure you hadn't brought spiders or other insects in with you?? Betting at least part of the price difference was cleaning, restoring, polishing and insect-free guarantee!

Wait…shorter shorts make you run faster? That’s my problem. Also, I do not run, I jog which is good enough for a woman screaming towards 70.

I mean, running makes people really hot. less fabric = easier heat dissipation. Good running clothes are essential to training hard - I want nothing rubbing me, nothing itchy, nothing ill fitting when concentrating all of my energy on making it to a finish line.

I saw on Reddit that Joe and Kendra are not invited though.

Also, kudo's to them for doing a childfree wedding (except for their direct nieces/nephews)

Weddings are so weird (and expensive). My husband’s 2 cousins had daughters who got married and some of  my hub’s sibs were invited, but we were not. I think it’s because my hub’s sibs’ kids have had huge weddings where the cousins were invited, but neither of our kids has had a wedding (1 did the courthouse overseas and the other is single). Everything is so transactional now.

Also, I have zero fomo and greatly dislike weddings. Please don’t invite me. I am more than happy to stay home.

No. They used to. But like everything else, when Karissa got overwhelmed by having too many children, she cut it out and used her cherry picked religion as an excuse.

That’s really sad. Especially for the older kids, who remember it. I bet you once Karissa stops having kids and the older one starts get married and move out she’ll start celebrating with the few that remain at home.
