World Naked Gardening Day

crazydaffodil

No sure if @HerNameIsBuffy caught this one yet, but there is a very special holiday coming up on May 2nd

That’s because it’s World Naked Gardening Day, an annual event where people are supposed to drop their drawers and get down and dirty.

Now in its 10th year, World Naked Gardening Day is traditionally celebrated the first Saturday in May.

Pervert aviators are also working on making it World Fly Your Drone Day!

Just sayin...

Well I sure hope it's sunnier by then, because naked gardening in hail doesn't sound like fun.

Your dates might be a bit wrong seeing as 2 May is a Monday this year. Their website (not recommended for worktime viewing) suggests the 12th annual naked gardening day would in fact be on the 7th of May. :shakehead: Wiki should not be considered a reliable source by journalists.

Of course I'm correct. I mean I wouldn't want @SpoonfulOSugar to have to go outside naked in the cold twice next month. That would be a bit mean.

I don't believe our local ordinances allow this particular event.  But I appreciate you watching out for me @OnceUponATime!

We might get back into the 50s for highs this weekend . . . but right now they are calling for S-N-O-W showers overnight.  *genteel sniffling*

:TRUCDEOUF:

We had our second day of hail showers today. I don't know what is up with them but I have surface flooding in my garden so all the wetness may stop now!

hmm......I will have to check out their site when I get home from work.  my municipality probably has  restrictions on naked gardening (low fences, 2-story houses, everything visible), but I can assure you that Mr. CL and I would not look like the couple above.  and I can't help but giggle over the mental image of Mr. CL operating the roto-tiller wearing nothing but work boots.  personally, though, naked gardening doesn't appeal to me in practice; I frequently rely on long sleeves and pants to avoid bug-bites or minor injuries.  even naked weed-pulling doesn't seem like a good idea for me (I will pick tomatoes in a dress, however), but we all do what makes us happy.

especially if it's stinging nettles or something like that.

Naked gardening does seem a little risky in my neighborhood. A lot of the old guys like to come outside to watch me garden. I'm not sure their hearts are all strong enough for naked garden day. I am pretty sure we don't have any laws about that though. Backyard = my business not theirs, unless there are seeding weeds. In which case that can get you a fine if your neighbors complain.

Itchy. I have no garden. But that just makes me think itchy. Gardening is one of those things that I like to think about doing in some sort of idealized retro 50s way. (when I have the ability to have one). But no. The reality is that I will make a mess. Much like when I clean and cook. It will be fun but I will get sweaty and dirty and probably come out of it not smelling very good. I may still look defrauding though. (I generally like doing chores in a tshirt and underwear :)

Being naked outside is nice.

Being naked outside and doing yard work sounds terrible. Clothes have a purpose, and it isn't fashion. It's protection from the elements. They invented jeans, bras, and work gloves for a reason.

It is a wonder how Adam and Eve didn't die from skin cancer, being exposed and outside all of the time.

they might have. It's not like there were any oncologists around to diagnose it.

Clearly, the apple tree was planted during that first World Naked Gardening Day.  They just didn't recognize the event as anything special because every event was World Naked (Something) Day!

This was not dreamed up by anyone in the Midwest where pricker weeds are a part of any yard work...

And this was also not the idea of a woman.  Bet money on that.

i think she announced it’d be Amaree,

My guess was Arrow Canaan on the Baby Names Thread. Her boy names follow an ACC pattern & don't have cutesy spellings. Since there's not much with the aforementioned pattern, that's what lead me to my guess.

Gotcha.  I don’t follow her but see reddit posts about her and couldn’t remember where I saw the name.

If it is Amaree, it’s the first “non-noun as a name” name for awhile, right,  I can’t remember them all—anchor, armor, anthym, aynjel, are the four I remember that are other words.  Then andre, arissa (is is anissa?), anniston (i will never be convinced it’s not after jennifer anniston).  So I’m missing 3.

Anyway, lucky kid gets a normal name if it’s amaree

Something made me look up the Boyer Girls on FJ, and there was a post in the previous baby thread, so I couldn’t quote—sorry!

I saw that Brigid is now a doula, with Brijeedoula. And wouldn’t you know it, she has another insta called evespromise. That handle is…like, was Eve really into birthing babies, or is ‘promise ’ a try-hard sublimation of ‘curse’? For a fundie Christian, the handle actually sounds threatening!
