A Butterfly

There's not much to say, really.  I had a plan to use only shades of yellow, orange and brown, and I managed to stick to it.  It's nice enough, I think.  Not my best in terms of precision, though.  All W&N and Prisma markers, but too many shades to name. (And, now that I see it I don't like the photo quality at all!)

Very nice!  Lovely choice of colors you've got going on there.  :marker:

Oh, I forgot about that!  So many really beautiful pictures!

As for mine here, thanks everyone, but I wish I'd retaken the photo.  It looks substantially better in real life.  For example, those dark brown leaf and flower things at the bottom do not stand out as much. I tried to balance the darks and lights throughout, and, until I posted this, I thought I'd done a good job.

Moving on, I've started a large peacock.  It will take some time and I'm pretty stressed because I want to make it beautiful. We shall see...

I shy away from those colors, however, I like this and now want to play with that combo myself!

This is so beautiful. I'm sure I would've done this in shades of pink and purple because I'm boring like that, and I love seeing what different color choices my fellow minions make. Great job!

very pretty.  I see everyone has discovered this color combo before I did ;)   It's a butterfly so you can't really go wrong.  Don't those markers bleed through and ruin the back side of the page or do you just pick one side and give up the other one?  I know some people do that with the 2 sided pages.

Yep. I make sure I am not desperate to do the flip side first, but, yes, basically half the pages are ruined!

Thanks.  I saw that there are hardback, one sided versions of the joanna basford ones or maybe it was the millie marrota ones.  I don't feel like I can justify getting those though...at least right now.    I also don't know how I feel about hardback versions because I like to pull the pages out and put them on my clipboard vs trying to color in the books.  It just works better for me since I'm often coloring while laying on my side right now.

Yes, I think it's Millie Marrota.  I have the Animal Kingdom hardcover. The pages still bleed through so I stick some paper towel in between the pages. The best are Basford's Artist's Edition books. There aren't as many pages but they are beautifully thick stock and easily removed from the book, as they are designed to be framed. They're expensive but worth it, I think.

I have the secret garden one on my wishlist, but tbh it's not my favorite of her books.   I would consider magical jungle though.  I think that is my favorite one of her's.  I am missing one of the millie ones, tropic wonderland I think.  The hardcover ones looks gorgeous, but I think it would be too hard for me to color in a hardback book like that.

I know some of the artists suggest coloring it and giving it as a gift, which I think is a great idea...if you are an actual working for a living type artist.   I can't think of anyone that would be thrilled to get a book of my already colored pages ;)

People on Reddit think Joy wasn't there, which is understandable since she went through something similar. Going to something like that would probably just bring all that pain back up.

RE: number of c-sections - I've heard of women in Europe being told 2 only; my friend's parents argued that Americans do more and their doctor okayed four. Women in US 4 only. But have met women who have had 5 sections. Two women I know were told at their last c-section (3rd and 5th) that their uterus was at the point of rupture and advised them to not have any more pregnancies. My point is it's very individual and a doctors should consider individual circumstances.

One sister could be a crime of opportunity, but 4 sisters and a babysitter presumably multiple times each is a preference.

And considering the age of the youngest sister at the time? Yeah, that's not a crime of opportunity.

      That could be concerning.

Look I know kids do weird things as part of games, and maybe I've been reading JRod too much but my first thought was that they are hungry and hiding food for later.

This I just don't get. Surely at least part of the point of it is storage? At the very least wouldn't you clean just to make sure you hadn't brought spiders or other insects in with you?? Betting at least part of the price difference was cleaning, restoring, polishing and insect-free guarantee!

She talked about how the little children were taking bread from the pantry and putting it in there. So maybe it was clean when it came home but then the food got in it?

Unclear. I guess I don't get why if you recorded that you wouldn't pause, wipe it out, and rerecord? I would be embarrassed by that.
