Drama Free Zone

You know, this forum is presented as a place to snark on the Fundies and their practices and ideas.  It's not about snarking, or worse, on each other!  We just get over the emotional roller coaster of one drama and then another one starts!  Can't we all just be kind to each other, thoughtful of one another's feelings, and stop with the hurtful rhetoric?

Just sayin...

Is a Mary Sunshine the same as a Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm? I resolve to channel PollyAnna in this drama-free zone.

I'm so "glad" that I'm alive. And not in a box.

Quote

Rosencrantz: Did you ever think of yourself as actually dead, lying in a box with a lid on it?

Guildenstern: No.

Rosencrantz: Nor do I, really. It's silly to be depressed by it. I mean, one thinks of it like being alive in a box. One keeps forgetting to take into account the fact that one is dead, which should make all the difference, shouldn't it? I mean, you'd never *know* you were in a box, would you? It would be just like you were asleep in a box. Not that I'd like to sleep in a box, mind you. Not without any air. You'd wake up dead for a start, and then where would you be? In a box. That's the bit I don't like, frankly. That's why I don't think of it. Because you'd be helpless, wouldn't you? Stuffed in a box like that. I mean, you'd be in there forever, even taking into account the fact that you're dead. It isn't a pleasant thought. Especially if you're dead, really. Ask yourself, if I asked you straight off, "I'm going to stuff you in this box. Now, would you rather be alive or dead?" naturally, you'd prefer to be alive. Life in a box is better than no life at all, I expect. You'd have a chance, at least. You could lie there thinking, "Well, at least I'm not dead. In a minute somebody is going to bang on the lid, and tell me to come out."

[bangs on lid]

Rosencrantz: "Hey you! What's your name? Come out of there!"

Guildenstern: [long pause] I think I'm going to kill you."

@Palimpsest, I have been intending to look up that scene from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead for freaking ever. Thank you!

You are welcome.  I used to be able to do that whole speech from memory - but I had to look it up this time.

Not a fundie- but the other day a Michigan state rep tweeted a picture of a couple buses leaving the Detroit airport, wondering where the “illegal invaders” were being bussed to.

The “illegal invaders” were the Gonzaga men’s basketball team, who had just arrived in Detroit for their regional semifinal matchup.

Dude gets exposed and his response is basically, “STFU you communist.”

He’s also an election denier who has predicted another civil war.

Erica has two associations for me. One is Erika Shupe, and the other is that it was the name of the “Brown Owl” of my Brownie Guides group when I joined. Brown Owl is the traditional name given to the main leader of a Brownie unit here in the UK. I remember she always had her hair in a single long plait down her back.

We use Brown Owl for the main leader in Canada too and Tawny Owl for second in command.

I am a Brown Owl! In Ireland, but was also a Tawny Owl in the UK. I love being Brown Owl and the whole story that goes with it.

i think she announced it’d be Amaree,

My guess was Arrow Canaan on the Baby Names Thread. Her boy names follow an ACC pattern & don't have cutesy spellings. Since there's not much with the aforementioned pattern, that's what lead me to my guess.

I don’t think she announced it on her social media yet. I think she might’ve let it slip when ordering something with the baby’s name on it.

Gotcha.  I don’t follow her but see reddit posts about her and couldn’t remember where I saw the name.

If it is Amaree, it’s the first “non-noun as a name” name for awhile, right,  I can’t remember them all—anchor, armor, anthym, aynjel, are the four I remember that are other words.  Then andre, arissa (is is anissa?), anniston (i will never be convinced it’s not after jennifer anniston).  So I’m missing 3.

Anyway, lucky kid gets a normal name if it’s amaree
