Mr. F. did a colour! And I'm pissed!

He's a better cook.  He's a better golfer.  And now he's a better colourist, too!  And this is his first effort! He has a more relaxed attitude than I do with regards to staying inside the lines.  (Case in point, I am currently employing a fucking magnifying glass in a futile attempt to achieve perfection. I mean, mine just looks so anal!) His style suits this picture, though, as this artist is annoyingly negligent about actually defining outlines!  I find this book (Fantastic Cities) a bit of a nightmare but, you see, my husband bought it for me so it all makes sense now.  Anyway, we had fun colouring together while imbibing a wee bit and with some great music in the background. Nice evening!

I like it!  Looks like a watercolor.  Think this type of picture would drive me a bit batty, though.  Welcome to Mr. F!  I think he belongs with the Colorists!

I will tell him you said so, @Tikobaby, but I don't think I want him here. He makes me look bad.

Plus, he's gloating all over the place. About 'taking liberties' and 'artistic license' and 'what have you'.

Oh!  I meant to ask if anyone can find his HUGE mistake. (Not so clever after all, Mr. F.)

Is it where he missed colouring the night sky where the fire escape goes up onto the roof?

The traffic light is upside down.... right?

You are both right!  But, really, it was the traffic light fiasco to which I was referring.  He asked, after I pointed it out, 'isn't red on the bottom?'  Anyway, he cares not a whit. I'm going to have to get a construction outfit in next week to raise our ceiling height.

I really like it. I can't stay into the lines either (and honestly,  I don't care much either), so it's nice to see I'm not alone there :)

I love this! I have this book, too. It stresses me out, so I haven't finished a page yet. It's been in the back seat of my car for months. Anyway, great job, Mr. Fascinated!

That is absolutely incredible!  It would drive me tricking insane, but I can admire it from here.

Really nice. And I'm jealous that he can create something so nice on his first try. I still can't stay in the lines but my slips just end up looking messy.

What coloring methods did you use, to make it look so much like a water color?

Sorry, @SoSoNosy, I didn't see this until now.  He used my Prismacolour markers.  I think it looks like watercolour due to the way he basically ignored many of the lines.  Also, he frequently used broad strokes rather than the more precise method I use.  It's likely that the artist's style contributes, too.  I really love how it turned out. I could not have achieved such a nice result.  I love the taxi and the windows, particularly in the corner building.  Pretty great first effort.

I agree that this looks great (and that this book would make me crazy!)  Did he have a good time?  Has he done any other pages since this one?  I keep trying to get my husband to color with limited success.  He did a page when I was in the SNF just to humor me, but he hasn't gotten the coloring bug at all.

I worked at FCA headquarters in kansas city for a brief period of time. Our team was all encouraged to go on an after-work trip to the IHOP prayer room. I chose not to go and I was the only one. But the (now insane) church I grew up in had been tied to Bickle early on and I'd always had a negative impression of him based on some weird prophecy stuff that people called him out on in the 90s. That said, my childhood church ended up back with IHOP and hired tons of their "graduates." Thankfully my parents are out now.

Maybe I've just spent too much of my life listening to driscoll non-ironically in my youth and then finding my way through deconstruction through ex-mormon youtube.... but it occurs to me that Driscoll's persistence that he's had visions about affairs and the like is strikingly similar to the Visions of Glory "Spencer." And once you make that connection, all of Driscoll's spiritual warfare nonsense and demon trials have the potential to be even more sinister.

An excellent commentary on the rotting corpse of the SBC and those who are protecting it:

They are doing a series on Pressler over at The Wartburg Watch.  Nothing really new there, but a pretty good summary if you're not caught up.

What a lot of people including Wartburg seem to be missing is that Paul Pressler caring what the SBC believed is just a smokescreen.  The reality is this, the SBC is the single largest evangelical voting block in the country.  The lay people involved in the SBC from the Council of National Policy (like Paul Pressler, or Rod Martin) will do whatever it takes to keep this block voting Republican.  They need to cover up abuse in church, not for the sake of the church, but because it could breakup a huge block that can be controlled right now.

I would think having already experienced a uterine rupture, and IIRC this was with Freddy and about 3 weeks before his due date, Jill is in a higher than average risk for untoward events and likely is on a very individualized OBGYN plan. Navigating a pregnancy and safe birth after having had a previous uterine rupture and never having had a vaginal delivery has to make Jill’s care quite unique. I hope she utilizes high risk maternal/fetal practitioners.

You weren’t ready for college….. that’s why you dropped out.

You weren’t ready for that new job…. So you were fired.

You weren’t ready to potty train… so you gave up after a week.

You weren’t ready to homeschool….. so your kids fell behind.

You weren’t ready to buy that house…. So you were denied a loan.

Does she not realize that when you aren’t ready, things can fail spectacularly? I try very hard not to place expectations on my kids that they can’t handle. They aren’t ready for algebra. So I’m not going to force them to learn it. Her thinking is completely flawed.

Exactly! There are way more instances where "no, you're not actually ready" is the appropriate response.
