Spring is here. How do you think I know?
Yes! It is springtime, and it means garden time.
Over the last few weeks I've been slowly spreading out the compost on the part of the garden we are using this year, and cleaning up a bit. Unfortunately my start-of-winter cleaning of the garden path didn't seem to help because it is covered in weeds again The weeds are flourishing too the grass has flowered already, which really sucks. So I still have to get stuff tidied up outside. But I have started sowing inside. yay!
So far I have sown the following:
- melons - 3 sorts (one is a self harvested seed from an unnamed melon)
- peas - sugar snap and regular (sown in pots because the garden isn't ready yet apparently I have to wait until April Saturday the 7th - it's going to be a long time)
- broad beans
- paprika - mini orange, regular and pointy red ones
- chili peppers - jalapeno, habanero, serrano, hot banana, and Papecchia
- cucumber
- tomatoes - cherry, and 3 'regular' ones
- red cabbage
- lettuce
- okra (for the last time!)
- aubergines - normal, white ones and mini ones
- tomatillo (own seed, have no clue if it'll grow)
- celery
- pumpkin
- broccoli
And this year the crazy stuff I'm going to attempt to grow: quinoa, sesame, sugar cane and ramsons
Next month (aka tomorrow) I can start sowing/planting other stuff like:
- kohlrabi
- beans
- corn
- more melons
- squash/pumpkins
- mustard leaves
- silver-beet
- gherkins
- turnips
- beetroot
- onions
- garlic
- parsnip
- courgette
- carrots
And even though those lists are long I still always feel like I'm forgetting something.
And I really can't wait until my garden starts looking like this again:
Well excluding the weeds
